I prefer a faster, more skilled player that can actually beat his man and serve as an outlet for our team. The current Zaniolo is so so bad. The only way this deal goes well for us is if he magically went back to his first season form before all the injuries

too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
Deserved yes
but still probably not a good idea...

we need to strengthen the striker dept... mfs blowing the money on an RW :fp:

i wonder if we can get any money for Origi
Trade him as part of a signing for an actual striker, therein lies the only option with Origi.

Genuine question: why do you call Maldini, "Paul" instead of Paolo? Autocorrect on the phone? Did you not like him growing up?
Fair question.

I want Parisi here really badly. I've only watched him a few times, but each time he's done very well.

I stayed away for three days and it made me realise I needed to be here to welcome Nicólo.

This is clearly a ‘deal’ sort of move. We have a file on Zaniolo that says he’s worth around 25m for us, and that he has pros and cons that make that number viable in our system. He’s suddenly available for that number so we’re moving for it. Fits our previous patterns when going for good deal players. Worst case we have an ok winger that we can probably sell for the same value in a few years.

Some people wanted him for around 40m in the summer. 25 loan obligation seems like a good deal for a player like Zaniolo, and fitting in a defined system with specific instructions, maybe he finds himself like Kessie did. That was Kessie’s problem before Pioli, too free doing too many things and needed focus and to limit what he does to the things he does best.

Who knows, maybe Zaniolo ends up being a better RW than Saelemaekers and Messias, in which case we can eventually sell both and get a RW to rotate with Zaniolo.

The point I’m trying to make is that the fact that he’s not expensive makes it’s a low risk move. High(ish) upside and very low downside for a position that we need to upgrade.

I doubt they would have moved for him if he wasn’t a good deal.
Bro I trust your analyses.
I don't like Zaniolo but I will support him if he comes and hope he does well
This is basically my position for most of the new signings at this point.

We took THE SAME gamble on Pellegri and it didn't pay off.
Zaniolo has been injured WORSE and has played WORSE after getting fit again.
I'm not sure where the hope the pro-Zaniolo ppl have is coming from.

Only R9 was properly world class with his serious injuries and that's because he was insanely good before.
ADP never regained his pre-injury stature although he was still a damn good player.

For me ACL is very serious.
This is another gamble like CDK, only that we're gambling with different parameters.

Then there's the "it can't be worse than...."
Well it absolutely can. We've been through basically a decade of shit LB's after Maldini and Serginho.
And each time it was..."well it couldn't be worse than...Antonini/Antonelli/Urby/Mesbah" etc.
We also kinda had this issue at #9

I wonder if we will decide to pay 20 million euro for Diaz and skip free aouar. Our directors are like lovers who can’t break up with anyone so I wait an emotional hug to diaz which cost 20 m plus aouar. If you don’t think look at lovely messias we didn’t let him go and bought him with our limited budget we are such a perfect family. I wish we have not sporting objectives. Shame on winning, keep the family happy , buy Diaz , sign 5 years contact with messias, extend ibra, pay 3,5 m for backup 37 years old giroud , we are such a perfect family😍 I am joking of course but we need a butcher I think

We took THE SAME gamble on Pellegri and it didn't pay off.
Is this accurate though? Pellegri showed his only promise as a 16 year old and was a laughable bet, Zaniolo has shown plenty promise as a senior with Roma.

I'm not advocating this deal, seems very risky because of injury history. Great talent when in form tho, like the bet.

Great analogy about lovers lol. Maldini s crazy if he buys diaz and skip aouar for free. I kinda like diaz snd his grinta great from bench. But in our situation 20 s too much with other positions much more critical.

Unbelievable that Baka is finally leaving, what a complete and utter failure that bet was

Probably the exit and removal of wages that makes this Zaniolo operation possible.

Not sure what this means but I was elated when Suso finally left.
That will be the feeling Roma fans have when his obligation is triggered not because he played well, but bc we made the CL next season.

Not sure what to make of this analogy but if Zaniolo comes here and shows some promise during the next 6 months, I'm happy to keep him for 23m and send Messias packing in the summer. Zaniolo is only 23.

If it is 1/2m loan and no obligation ok, but any form of obligation would make Zaniolo a horrible deal.

All our staff should be fired. And I'm looking forward to that day. Not
But this dude is not actually better than them. And I'm not one to look at stats as the gospel and 'be all/end all". But in this case, none of these 3 (Jr/Saele/Zaniolo) are great and none of them satisfy their club's needs. This dude is literally JUST a name. A hyped name that's never lived up to expectations, except that 1st Roma season....in which by the way, he was considered young, still growing, so whatever short coming there was, was just excused due to youth. No longer that case. It's a dead end man. It's a circle we are going in. Neither forward nor back.

2G and 5A in 28 games last year.
1G and 0A in 13 games this year.
You can be the biggest stat hater in the world.....still, this is bad and doesn't warrant us going after him. What exactly is a guy like this supposed to fix?
Good point bro.

1) He's not a high volume goal scorer *cough*cough* Origi *cough*
2) His fitness is up for doubt
3) His mentality and football IQ is up for debate

Again, he's 23. So it's all up in the air.
Honestly, if he can get down the right flank and whip in crosses for Giroud or CDK, it guess it's worth a shot 🤷‍♂️
But we have two similarly incomplete RW's. Let's hope that he proves to be a few levels above them.
I'm not sure how a guy with 3 goals in 41 league apps would get so much hype on this forum.
If it were someone from Lique 1 with 20 goals in 41 apps ppl would still be skeptical.

Zaniolo, broken player, injury prone, shitty attitude, out of form... Better than nothing I guess.
