Imo it is more a 2-3 year project, a very tall, barely 18 striker with only a little bit of pro football in his legs - he likely won't make any impact this or next season.

Agreed. With Giroud and Zlatan, or even Rebic, for one position, only Serie A and Coppa, this should do anyway.

Are we even sure he's not bought to play with Primavera? He's even younger than Roback. Or we're sending him to the Primavera and promoting Roback?

It's the same thing with wages really. Otherwise, Mbappe for free this summer like I said before.

You have no way to talk your way out of this, if you're on the premise that we are clowns for not getting a player that the big boys (economically) are after.

Sure, we could win these battles sometimes for different reasons (regular playing time for example) but those are exceptions. But not succeeding with that doesn't make us clowns.
I don't need to talk myself out of anything. Again, there is no bidding war because a release clause cancels that. If 4 clubs want Alvarez they all offer the 25m release clause. His club will just have to accept the bid of the club the player decided to join.

Regarding "clowns". We are in many ways great as we are clowns. The club reducing the debt - great! The club making an upward sportive achievement trend - fantastic! But when it comes down to other aspects, we are being clowns. Giving Mugabe a deadline on the final day of the window - clowns. Letting Dolla and Hakan hussle you - clowns. Negotiating a price down and then reduce your offer even further - clowns. Letting everything come down to the final days of a transfer window - clowns.

I dont mind the kid.
But during the last week of mercato its really stupid to think about replacing a worthless Pellegri while we dont have a starting AM.
The last week of mercato is next week. So we will be done thinking about that then, it looks like.

I don't think you will see an AM or RW signing, btw.

Not sure we ended up as clowns with Donnarumma. Pretty sure most people are pretty satisfied with how things turned out. Hakan, we’ll see next year if Adli steps up. Kessie doesn’t agree on our valuation and we’ll keep him and then replace him with another CM in the summer. Negotiating prices down is how we make sure we don’t overextend ourselves. Not sexy but at least we don’t end up with Kabak and then maybe missing the opportunity to get Tomori. They know exactly how much they want to spend on a player and don’t bother paying more.

Looking at the squad and how much we spent to get it, and the potential of the squad in the short and long term… your first thought is clowns are in charge?

Yes, release clause cancels a bidding war in regards to the fee. But then there are the wages, facilities, competitiveness, team mates, level of league... other than facilities, Man City blows us away on everything and are included in a bidding war for the players OK. I don't know why you don't seem to understand that. It's pretty easy, and this Alvarez kid did choose City it seems, so that speaks for itself.

Things you mentioned that makes us "clowns" happens to every club, so I'm just regarding that as fan frustration.

Who’s expecting an AM or RW signing?

Imo we are not really haggling down that much, we just don't haggle in the first place and just don't move from the offer. As long as you can deal with missing out on many targets it is pretty good negotiation strategy when it hits.

Exactly. I think a lot of the media makes up the numbers. Maybe get fed false information by agents or the selling club, because for sure Milan aren’t talking. I think we just put a number out there that our analysis thinks is right, and if they say yes, great, if not we move on to the other dozen shortlisted players.

We’ve seen this tape before a million times already we should be used to it.

Once we get rid of Castillejo I think the squad will have basically no dead wood. No unwanted players. I don’t remember the last time that happened. I also don’t think any major club in Europe is that efficient and lean of a squad. There’s always a few unhappy or unwanted or unused players.

Lets just enjoy games before Russia invades Ukraine and the rest of Europe is in a war due to energy shortages

Tonali Tomori Pellegri - think there maybe one or two others but those three seemed confirmed by reporting.

Previously there were speculative reports on targets and then Maldini started expressing the 'no auctions' comments

Having Adli on our book (but not on the pitch) is complicate things
