Getting a bit worried about news that Man Utd are trying to hijack the deal.
To strengthen defensively, I think they're signing a current Ajax player, not a former. Ten Hag sold Botman at Ajax because he didn't suit their style.

Seems like one of those lazy links 'Dutch manager at big European club MUST be interested in highly rated Dutch CB'. Not worried at all.

Every single one of the lads has done something or other to contribute, no matter how big or small.
Things that have earned us points to allow us to get where we are today:

Mike Maignan16 Clean sheets and counting. Assist to Leao for Sampdoria win.
Ciprian Tatarusanu6 games played, 4 wins, 1 draw and one crucial Derby Penalty save against Merda at 1-0. Game ended 1-1.
Antonio MiranteSigned on when Mike was injured as backup to Tata, motivated Tata to perform.
Fikayo Tomori30 games, 15 Clean sheets and counting. Crucial interventions. Forced De Vrij OG for 1-1 in first Derby.
Alessio Romagnoli (C)22 games, 1 goal in Sassuolo loss, 7 Clean sheet performances. Got injured by Dzeko in Coppa Semis return match to pave the way for the Fikayo-Pierre partnership.
Simon Kjaer11 games, 3 clean sheets. Forced to babysit Romagnoli and Gabbia in defence when Tomori was out injured. Then got injured himself.
Matteo Gabbia8 games, 4 clean sheets. Played CB with Kalulu when all our CBs were out with injury in Jan. Memorably kept Roma quiet in 3-1 win, followed by Clean sheet performance (3-0) against Venezia 3 days later.
Davide Calabria32 games, 2 goals, 3 assists. Goals against Atalanta (won 2-3) and Bologna (won 2-4), assists to Giroud in Merda (1-2) and Napoli (0-1) wins.
Pierre Kalulu27 games, game winning goal against Empoli (1-0), assists against Spezia (won 1-2), and Genoa (won 0-2). 9 Clean sheets and counting, alongside Fikayo.
Alessandro Florenzi23 games, 2 goals (win v. Empoli (2-4), win v Hellas (1-3)) and generally great option off the bench to sub Calabria for.
Theo Hernández31 games, 5 goals, 6 assists. Goals against Venezia (both games), Empoli and Atalanta. Single-handedly won the first Venezia match (2-0) with a goal and an assist from off the bench (played 31 minutes).
Fodé Ballo-Touré10 games, 443 minutes played. Crucially played 90 minutes in first Hellas Verona match due to Theo being suspended/injured (we won 3-2) and Bologna match the week after (we won 4-2).
Franck Kessié30 games, 5 goals. Goals in wins against Hellas (3-2), Roma (2-1), Salernitana (2-0), and brace against Empoli (4-2).
Sandro Tonali35 games, 5 goals & 3 assists. Crucially, goal against Atalanta (3-2 win), last minute goal v Lazio (2-1), and brace in comeback win against Verona (3-1). Also assisted against Udinese (1-1), Merda (1-1), and Ladri (1-1).
Ismaël Bennacer30 games, 2 goals, 1 assist. Crucially, goal & assist vs Bologna (4-2 win), game winning goal vs Cagliari (1-0)
Tiemoué Bakayoko14 games, logged minutes during our injury crisis/ AFCON stretch and played the full 90 against Venezia (3-0 W) and Spezia (2-1 L)
Rade Krunic27 games, 1 assist against Torino win (1-0), and crucial tackle against Atalanta for Theo's Weah-Goal.
Brahim Díaz30 games, 3 goals & 3 assists. Scored our season opener vs Sampdoria (1-0 w), Venezia (2-0w), and popped up with a game winner against Spezia (2-1) after coming off the bench with 8 minutes to go. Disappeared after his bout with Covid, but still contributed with a couple of assists against Genoa (2-0) and Salernitana (3-0) after that.
Daniel Maldini8 games, 1 goal in Spezia win (2-1). Stats are deceptive as he only started 2 matches and played a total of 143 minutes in those 8 matches.
Alexis Saelemaekers35 games, 1 goal & 3 assists. Goal vs Salernitana (2-0). Assists againsst Spezia (2-1w), Venezia (2-0w) and Empoli (4-2w)

I don’t want this to become a debate on race, but I think that has a factor to play as well.

France and England have far more black players, who are in general just way more athletically gifted. The NBA is a good example of this.
Athleticism is more associated to the specific sport you're referring to. For the NBA athleticism is in regards to combinations of physical size + jumping ability, agility, and strength. In the NFL its more combinations of physical size + speed, strength, and explosive power. So its not that black players are more "athletic" its that for the sports we excel in we have the requisite qualities.

Soccer/Calcio/futebol is different in that athleticism in this sport wasn't traditionally defined by physical size, nor speed. Athleticism in this sport is a combination of endurance, agility, quickness (speed in short bursts), etc... As times have changed the kinds of athletes competing and the sport has changed so that speed in straight lines, jumping ability, physical size, explosive power, etc... are more important than they were in the 70's. Italy in this regard as well as many others, hasn't changed the way other nations have. The Germans, French, Belgians, English etc... started scouting for the more physically dominant players and the Italians, Argentians, Spaniards still were promoting the more skilled and "intelligent" players through the youth ranks. Spain and Argentina had geniuses, and were able to offset the physicality they lacked. Italy didn't have the same level of intelligence and technique that they previously did with Baggio, Chiesa, Zola, Mancini, Totti, Del Piero, Pirlo. Nor did they have the physical attributes that the others could count on, namely straight line speed. Mancini as a coach did well to copy the Spanish in developing a "small game" (tiki taka-Italia).

Long story short, athleticism isn't really a "black (W.African)" thing it just so happens we dominate in certain sports where size + speed + strength are highly-valued. Soccer only in the last 10-15 years started to move in that direction as well which explains France becoming a dominant footballing nation. It also explains Brasil's success, as they are not only one of the most technical footballing nations, but also traditionally produced great footballing "intelligence" and are the most African nation outside of African itself.

So who do we expect to be at the World Cup?

Leao, Theo, Maignan, Botman, Kjaer, Origi, Saelemaekers and Renato for sure.

Maybe Kalulu, Giroud, Brahim, Tomori (wtf), and Rebic (doubftul).

That's not bad. We'll have the majority of the squad resting and training. I think Inter, Juve, Napoli and the rest have more?

Also to note that because the minimum appearance requirement for a League medal (special circumstances for GKs) is 5, that means all of the players here will be immortalized.
Yes, even Daniele, Gabbia, Mirante, Samu, Yoko and FBT.

Origi is an interesting one. He's the definition of an 'enigma' to me. 6'1 and technical - his skill set is ideal for dominating in Serie A. Klopp labelled him as the best finisher at Liverpool. Yet I'm questioning whether he'd get more than 10 league goals.

By the way, I'm on board with the signing. Free transfer, 3+1 yr contract, €3.5m/yr coupled with growth decree. Not much to complain about in that aspect.

When my country needed just one win to qualify Euro 2020, some people sold tickets to that game like over 1000 euros
Milan fans did the same in 2005 with liverpool fans. Stadium was 70% pool fans 30% us

remember the days where 90% of our team stayed home and well rested during international breaks...then those same tired players would come back from international team and still whoop our ass.

point still stands, even if the numbers are off or not reliable. expecting much bigger sponsor deals is just delusional. we're not there yet. you can't erase a 10 year irrelevance within two years
No. Your point does not stand. It's not about the numbers not being reliable, nor are they just "off" they are wildly inaccurate. Bayern went from selling 1.3 million shirts and in a few years started selling over 3 million? Fucking stop. The report you cling to is wrong.

How does 10 years of banter era square away with the fact that Milan was still selling in the top 10, in 2016, after they had finished 10th?

Expecting more than 20m is not delusional, even from the stand-point of inflation, Milan should be getting more than 20-22m.

I'm in two minds about this (no homo)
On the one hand it's JUST a shirt design bro you should be focused on earning a name for yourself at PSG

On the other hand it's kind of high handed and forced compliance. I wouldn't care if it was me...but I know some devout ppl of the Christian and Muslim faiths who aren't homophobic is any (meaningful) way who would object strongly to this....i.e. promotion of homosexuality.

I mean if you wanna suck a dick that's fine (no homo)
If you want to think sucking a dick is stunning and brave that's also fine
BUT
WHY DO I HAVE TO THINK IT'S AEWSOME TOO?
It feels like coersion

You are citing the boxers that have been groomed from birth. Most young black Americans aren't opting for boxing first the way much more would've in previous generations.

Also your height statistic only taking in heavyweights is not accurate as NFL has players of all statures that would fill out the lower weight divisions if they were not excelling in that sport.

This is not to say that blacks would dominate or are generally better etc - just adding why the level in boxing may have dropped. The Europeans (and others) who now box are technically much better and much more fluid than they ever were before too.

All these things contribute
Actually NFL players are generally well built (average 6'2/98kg) so I don't buy that argument either as they would also only make an impact at heavyweight. Also, there's actually been a decline in the popularity of NFL over the years in terms of both viewing figures and high school participation due to increased awareness of concussions/CTE risks.

However, I agree with the last paragraph which is what I've been saying all along and pretty obvious when you look at the make up of top athletes across the major sports.
