The only way to turn our season around is to buy a midfielder who can have same impact as theo and Leao to hit gold.

We have at most 4 players we could confidently call "good enough" for us to be a competitive squad: Theo, Donna, Roma, Bennacer. 5 if you include Ibra. 6 if you think one of Leao/Rebic/Castillejo becomes true starting material. MAX 7 if two of those work out.

We still need at least 4 competitive players: two CMs, a fast CB to pair with Roma, and a RB. That's in the best case scenario where TWO of Leao/Rebic/Castillejo come good. Otherwise we also need a winger.

The way around is to inflate transfer prices.

That was what I thought but actually it wouldn't be possible for agents to get the same amount of money that way. For Raiola to get the amount he got from the Haaland transfer under FIFA's proposed ideas the transfer would have had to be 150m, or 250m to also get Haaland's dad his money. The Ronaldo transfer would have had to be 250m for Mendes to get the same amount, Olmo would need to be moving for 70-110m and so on.

It might be possible if all transfer fees increased across the board, with almost no players moving for under 30m and the average price going up to 50 or something, so that clubs could still get close to the same net spends, just with hugely more coming in and out, but that way a couple of bad transfers or bad injuries could make many clubs bankrupt so seems unlikely.

If it's even legal for FIFA to do this (possibly not since I remember legal issues with salary caps because in Europe it's not legal to limit someone's earning potential) then I think there would have to be a host of loopholes found, like clubs paying agents a salary or retainer or consultation fee that would be technically not attached to a particular transfer, or paying players a considerably higher salary and the player would then pay the agent a large portion of their salary to manage the contract for its duration.

Or just possibly it ends up working as FIFA thinks it will and there will be a true meritocracy among agents, probably agencies will merge and get much bigger, but clubs will actually end up saving money (and then almost certainly paying players more).

NFL and NBA agents still manage to make a ton of money with a cap (on salary since there aren't transfer fees).

Why not look for a player like Ndidi from Leceister City? Proven in a top league and one of their highest tacklers in the EPL if not the #1.

Him in place of Kessie and the team would look quite different

I was hopeful because they said its done, because thats the only way we can sign a player just try to complete the deal before everyone else.

As soon as another club enters the race we are out.

No money, no appeal to these young players, no project.

The road is long...

Looks like Politano to Napoli on 18 month loan and obligation for 25m.

Certainly looking to buy their way out of trouble, they're already at a 120m net transfer spend this season.

iknow but people are saying we get overrun by other teams using 3 midfielders formations there so...

The numbers are deceptive. A better way to compare is to see how many and how often players occupy the central areas of the pitch. In a 442 that's two players usually (Bennacer and Kessie for us). If a team is playing 433 then there are three players in the central areas and it also depends a lot on the movements and characteristics of the players.

Tutto Sport: Milan are hoping to sign Olmo but they have to sell one of Suso / Paqueta. The alternative is Januzaj who already accepted the Milan destination.

Gazzetta - Milan, to buy you must first sell

There's still time left but I have sympathy for Maldini and Boban. Our players are difficult to get rid off.

Tutto Sport: Florentino - Milan; Agent is working to move the player to Milano. The basis of the deal will be a 2 year loan with an option to buy. In the coming days we will know more whether Benfica accepts the proposal or if the deal is meant for the summer.

La Republica: On Sunday Paqueta was taken to the clinic as he was suffering from anxiety. The player does not have friends in Milano and does not feel valuable at his club.

GDS: Milan have 90m sitting on the bench, this is why their hands are tied in the market. Paqueta, Suso and Paitek are all for sale, the Brazilian has no offers while the other two have shy offers for loan deals.

Dont laugh at mental health problems bro. It's sad for paqueta to feel like this.

But is it true? He looks happy in those stupid rap videos with Piatek.
