Some people in this forum says: "no team is spending, don't bash berlu"
real merda and man shitty are cunts, but what about the other teams? Look at merda and barca.

If we want to be a "big team" in the near future, the club must invest. I think this summer will be very fun for Ac Milan fans. I hope to see us on lists like this :D

Edit: frikkin genoa spent more than us last year :S

These are strictly the amount of money that they put into new players. The money recieved hasn't been taken into consideration - making the situation even more speculative than it is with the overturn.

Official: Porto Sign Colombian Wonderkid James Rodriguez From Banfield

Portuguese giants Porto have confirmed the capture of promising youngster James Rodriguez from Argentinian side Banfield. The Liga Sagres titans have secured 70 per cent of the player's transfer rights for a fee of €5.1 million.
Porto finished only third in the Portuguese league last term and opted to part company with head coach Jesualdo Ferreira at the end of the season. New head coach Andre Villas Boas is determined to add some fresh blood to his ranks ahead of the 2010-11 season and has now gotten his desired reinforcements.

The 18-year-old Rodriguez started his career at Envigado, but joined Banfield in the summer of 2008. The versatile attacker had since developed into an important first team player at Banfield and was continually being linked with a move to Europe.

Napoli, Espanyol and Benfica were also keen on the Colombian starlet, but Rodriguez has now opted to join Porto instead. He has signed a four-year deal with his new club. Rodriguez has a €30m release clause in his contract.

The Dragoes earlier this week signed influential midfielder Joao Moutinho from rivals Sporting CP for a fee of €11m

Is our club incapable of doing deals like this

Transfer Watch – Juventus (Part 1) »

Somnath Sengupta 10:54 pm | Juventus has a stable financial state & money to spend. Italy's most successful club will want to bounce back from a dissapointinG SEASON AS THEHARDTACKLE'S somnath sengupta eplains how.

Transfer Watch – Juventus (Part 1)

What is the best thing to do after a disastrous season? Simple, go shopping. Unlike some of the illustrious clubs on the other side of the English Channel, Bianconeri have a stable financial structure and money is available. Some of the unreliable media sources like ********** have suggested a transfer kitty of 80 million Euros. But the loss of Champions’ League gate money and subsequent loss of prize money will dent the budget. It should still be around 40 million Euros nonetheless.

ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES:

1) Andrea Agnelli

He is not a player, so what? This is one area where reinforcements were desperately needed. Andrea may just be the perfect candidate. Finally Juve have a president with the right name. Someone whose name doesn’t sound like a Jennifer Lopez film or is actually a tennis expert who knows zilch about football. The Agnelli family has done a lot for the club. Right from Edoardo in 20s to Gianni in 50s. Another Agnelli can steer the club to its former glory.

May 20, 2010 - Turin, Torino, Italy - Football - Juventus Press Conference - Turin - Italy - 20/5/10..Juventus President Andrea Agnelli during the Press Conference.

Does Andrea look a bit like Mr Bean?

THT Verdict: Hard to say whether he will really succeed or not. This is not the best time for a young president to take over. He has a famous nickname that will get him support from club staff initially. Moggi and Nedved both have given thumbs up to him; Juve fans will hope he lives up to the hype.

2) Giuseppe Marotta

This guy is not a player either. He is a transfer guru. Possibly the most important man in an Italian club hierarchy. He replaces Alessio Secco, who was originally a guy related with media affairs at Juventus. He is a terrible, terrible, terrible transfer director. No football acumen at all. And he replaced one of the best transfer gurus in history – Luciano Moggi.

Marotta has an impressive CV. He is good at his job, one of the best in Italy with Pantaleo Corvino & Marco Branca. He has made some very shrewd transfers in Sampdoria in last few seasons; - Cassano, Pazzini and Palombo to name a few. Atleast this guy knows what to do.

May 20, 2010 - Turin, Torino, Italy - Football - Juventus Press Conference - Turin - Italy - 20/5/10..Juventus General Manager Giuseppe Marotta during the Press Conference.

Can he rebuild the Juventus Empire?

THT Verdict: His record is good. His first and most important job will be to get rid of the deadwood in the squad. Once that is done, the real rebuilding begins. Overall he is a good catch and a step in right direction.

3) Luigi del Neri

The Old Lady in her 85 year history of hiring coaches had never fired one. The incompetent management broke that record by firing 2 coaches in 2 seasons. It was clear Zaccheroni wouldn’t last. So in came Gigi del Neri. Del Neri’s selection is questionable.

He has no experience in managing a big club and his biggest achievements till date is 4th place with Sampdoria, a good run with Chievo Verona. He has rarely done well in big games; in his long coaching career he has just beaten Juventus once. He favours a 4-4-2, not particularly well suited to current squad. He might work well with Marotta, as he did in Sampdoria.

Del Neri has a tough task at hand..

THT Verdict: While Internazionale went for a coach who has won a UEFA Cup & Champions League trophy with different clubs, Juve went for a strictly middle tier coach. Shows the gulf of ambition between the two clubs. It might be argued that even Lippi didn’t coach any big clubs before joining Juventus but Del Neri does not give a lot of assurance. Judgement on him can only be passed after the team has played a few games.

4) Fabio Paratici

Paratici had been Marotta’s eyes and ears in Sampdoria. He was also their chief scout and has a pretty good record in that department. A host of changes in backroom staff was made, as Marotta brought his people. The declaration in Juventus’ Official site can be found here.

Juventus formalized the new assignments concerning Sport Department that will be under the guidance of Sport Department General Manager Giuseppe Marotta.

Fabio Paratici will be the Technical Area Coordinator and Doctor Fabrizio Tencone the Medical Staff Chief. Sport Assistant has been confirmed Francesco Gianello. Mauro Sandreani will continue his commitment as Observers’ Coordinator and Gianluca Pessotto will still be Youth Department Organization Chief. Matteo Fabris will be the new Team Manager.

Trainer Luigi Del Neri will be helped by trainer assistant Francesco Conti. In his staff also the pitch assistant Maurizio D’Angelo, the goalkeepers trainer Claudio Filippi and athletic trainers Roberto De Bellis and Luca Alimonta.

THT Verdict: Bringing his own team will ensure that Marotta can work without hitches. The same team propelled Sampdoria’s recent success & can do the same for Juventus.

RUMOURS:

It’s the crazy season again. Everyone from George Bush to Pamela Anderson will be linked with Juve. Since strikers are needed, all the strikers out there are linked. From somewhat realistic rumours like Pazzini, Dzeko or Aguero, to downright laughable like Berbatov. Since del Neri will play a 4-4-2, the search for wingers has been stepped up. AZ’s Mousa Dembele, Angel di Maria, Juan Vargas are few names that have been thrown up. Banfield’s young sensation James Rodriguez was strongly linked at some point too. Sampdoria’s Reto Ziegler was rumoured to join in. Some of the more outrageous rumours have Del Piero going to UAE and Fabregas coming to Turin in exchange of Buffon. In defense Mattias Cassani and Simon Kjaer have been linked. Buffon being linked with EPL clubs was most annoying. Thankfully both Gigi & his agent squashed the rumours.

Top-5 rumours Juventus fans would like to materialize:

1) Jonathan Zebina to Fenerbahce:

Fans hate him, he can’t play, he is always injured. No thanks and bye bye. The Turkish club reportedly can pay 4 million Euros.

Possibility: Low

2) Milos Krasic coming in:

Pacy, skillful, can run for 90 minutes. Krasic is everything the current team lacks. CSKA are asking for 15 million Euros. Some sources have said it might be a done deal, but nothing confirmed yet.

Possibility: High

3) Grygera to Ajax:

If Gregory van der Wiel leaves for Bayern, then Ajax might recall their former right-back. Grygera has been very ordinary in Serie A. His poor form reached it’s climax when he made three mistakes to gift Siena 3 goals in a 3-3 draw.

Possibility: Low, everything depends on van der Wiel.

4) Iaquinta to Tottenham:

While Vinny is a good squad player, Juve needs better strikers. His physical style might suit EPL and he wouldn’t mind sitting on bench.

Possibility: Low

5) Aguero/Dzeko/Benzema/Pazzini coming in:

All four strikers have been linked. Tiago (who did well in Atletico on loan) and cash is the offer for Aguero. Dzeko may want to move to a bigger club. Benzema has been below par in Real, Higuain just got an extension so he will get a higher priority. Pazzini has been linked in the past too.

Possibility: Moderate.

Will this man sport the black & white jersey ?

Top-5 rumours Juventus fans would not like to materialize:

1) William Gallas coming in:

No thanks. Over the hill, slow in his tackles, a hindrance in dressing room. Not another has been defender like Cannavaro.

Possibility: Low

2) Chiellini to Real Madrid

Chiellini is the single most important player in Juventus right now. Forget transfer, the guy should be given a salary hike and a new contract for next five years.

Possibility: Will never happen.

3) Berbatov coming in

Lazy, can’t score, looks disinterested in the game. Despite the fact that Berba is blessed with sublime skills, he is not needed in the current system.

Possibility: Low

4) Diego to Bayern Munich/Bundesliga

Attacking players have often suffered in first season in Italy. Platini, Nedved, Zidane the list is long. Diego did decently in his first season. Definitely deserves a chance.

Possibility: Moderate, he wouldn’t fit in del Neri’s 4-4-2.

Bildnummer: 04088249 Datum: 25.10.2008 Copyright: imago/Pius Koller..Sebastian Giovinco Photo via Newscom

Will the Atomic Ant stick around ?

5) Giovinco to Bari

Can’t blame Giovinco, can you? He has talent but for last 2 seasons, none of the tacticians have managed to find him a spot in the starting eleven. He has been impressive most of the times he got a chance. The co-ownership deal to Bari will be a loss to the club. He is a youth product and has been part of Juve since he was a child. He deserves better.

Possibility: High

To be continued…

Transfer Watch – Inter Milan
Guest Author 09:01 pm | After the highly successful trebble winning season, will Inter Milan be able to survive the burden of achievements this time around? THT's guest author Arvind S Balasubramanian takes a look…
The burden of victory

So how do you make a Treble winning squad better? Not many team owners have faced this dilemma in the recent past, and not many are likely to do so in the near future. In fact no one has ever faced it in Italy before. Philosophically speaking, the only way forward from the summit of Mount Everest is down. So coming off a historic season, Inter will definitely find it tough to match the achievements of Jose Mourinho’s band of merry men.

Is this possible again, without JoMo?

The last man to achieve greatness both as a player and as a manager, the legendary Johan Cruyff, is credited with saying that once a team had won everything that was to be won, it was better to disband the team and start all over again. This retains the hunger in the team and ensures that complacency doesn’t set in. In recent past many successful teams failed to refresh their squads after a winning spree only to taste failure soon. Case in point Barcelona between 2006-08, Milan between 1996-99, Juventus between 1998-2001.

Change in owner’s Attitude

Last season was a culmination of Massimo Moratti’s dream ever since he bought the club in mid 90s. Like many other mega rich Owners of Italian clubs, Moratti has simply reduced the amount of money he is willing to spend. However the belief is that if a marquee name becomes available, he will do anything to sign him.

Coaching Changes

At the end of last season, having won everything possible, Jose Mourinho decided to end his association with Italian football and look for a new challenge as the ringmaster of the Madrid Circus. Branca and Moratti eventually settled on Rafael Benitez as the replacement.

Rafael Benitez:

He ended his association with Liverpool after 6 years of mixed results. While he gave the Liverpool fans a 5th Champions league to savour, ultimately he failed to deliver what they craved the most, the premier league title. As per the results, his transfer record has been mixed to say the best. For a Torres/Mascherano, he has more than a dozen turkeys to his name. However his record at Valencia suggests that, he can deliver results with the right set of players. Thankfully at Inter, he will work in situation similar to that of Valencia, rather than that of Liverpool where he had too much freedom.

Verdict:

A compromising choice, given no better option was available at the time. Moratti’s initial preferences Capello, Hiddink and Blanc opted to continue with their national team jobs, which they had signed up for prior to Mourinho’s resignation. Inter fans will be hoping that it is the Valencia version of Rafael Benitez who takes over, rather than the Liverpool version.

Which Rafa will turn up at the San Siro?
The Valencia verson or Liverpool’s one ?

Amadeo Carboni:

A Former Italy international who had played under Benitez at Valencia and also served his backroom staff, will join as the liaison between players and the manager. As a native Italian, his task will be very important as in the past year or so, at least 4 players have come out in the open questioning Benitez’s man management skills.

Mauricio Pellegrino, Francisco Miguel, Vicente Valero:

Assistant Coach, Goal keeping coach and Fitness coach respectively under Benitez at Liverpool. They have followed their boss to Inter. Hopefully they can continue where Jose’s staff left off.

Player Movements

Budget Available:

Historically Moratti has never balked from spending any amount for the club. However, prudence has been the name of the game in these last few seasons. This season too after a historic treble, the rumoured budget is about 40m Euros plus any money generated from player sales. With Maicon and/or Balotelli being linked heavily to a big money transfer, this kitty could easily cross 100m Euros. With Inter already having the strongest squad in the peninsula, it might be the second season in a row where the squad is strengthened without incurring any expense.

Loan Returns:

1. Nicolas Burdisso: Returns after a fairly successful loan spell at Roma. He is expected to be sold off to Roma, who at the moment cannot afford the fee Inter are demanding (10m Euros)

2. Nelson Rivas: Returns after an uneventful season at Livorno. No future at Inter, should be shipped off to one of the newly promoted clubs either on loan or on outright sale.

3. Kerlon: The seal dribbler. Spent last season at Ajax having convinced nobody. Again no future at Inter, should be off to a Serie-b Club.

4. David Suazo: Returns from Genoa, where he failed to shine. His former club Cagliari are interested, and he should again go off

5. Victor Obinna: Returns from Malaga, should be sold

6. Amantino Mancini: A Curious case. Nobody wants him and he refuses to go, probably knowing that he cannot get the salary elsewhere. For everyone’s sake it’s better that he leaves.

Confirmed Transfers

In: Philippe Coutinho (Vasco da Gama), Jonathan Biabiany, Luca Castelazzi (Sampdoria)
Out: Ricardo Quaresma (Besiktas), Luis Jimenez (Terana), Francesco Toldo (Retired)

18 year old Philippe Coutinho arrives with a reputation of being the most talented attacking midfielder to come out of Brazil since Kaka. He wanted to stay on for a year more on loan, but Inter insisted on his being available next season. Expect him to be a substitute for Sneijder for most parts.

Luca Castelazzi will be an understudy for Julio Cesar, now that Toldo has retired.

Jonathan Biabiany is an support striker and Inter youth product, who has been brought back with an eye to complete the 4 home grown spots mandated by UEFA for champions league.

Ricardo Quaresma ends his unsuccessful spell at Inter during which he won the dreaded Bidone d’Oro (Golden bin). He moves to Besiktas for a rumoured fee of 7.5m Euros. Hopefully he can fulfill his potential there

Rumours

It is basically a free for all. Ever since Rafael Benitez has been announced as the new Inter Manager, almost half of Liverpool team is linked with a transfer to Inter; similarly half of Inter team has been linked to a transfer to Madrid. The biggest saga however is reserved for Maicon and Balotelli. The club is divided over letting the latter go. He is the best talent to have come out of the academy in over a decade, yet his attitude leave a lot to be desired. After his multiple altercations with the fans, maybe he will quit for the right amount.

Top wishful rumours Inter fans would like to see materialize:

Early resolution to Maicon / Balotelli Circus

Too many news items have been floating in the air for past month or so. A lot of it is completely rubbish and being stirred around by the agents; however, the news can be distracting to the club. The fans would want conclusion of the circus at the earliest.

While Balotelli is undoubtedly the best talent to have come out of Inter academy since a guy named Andrea Pirlo, his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Last season he had one too many tiffs with the fans, and might find it hard to regain their affection. A move to either team of Manchester might suit all three parties. While Mancini was the one instrumental in giving the boy a break into the first team and remains a father figure to him, Sir Alex Fergusson’s reputation in taming wild talented youngsters (Read Rooney) remain unparalleled. It would be a loss to the game if Balotelli doesn’t realize his potential, so a move might be the only means to save him.

Maicon, on the other hand, has rightfully cemented his reputation as the best right-back in the world. Inter have a good alternative in Davide Santon, and at 29 it might be the best opportunity to cash in on him.

Possibility: High for both players
Inter faithfuls will wish Maicon stays on

Signing of Andrea Ranochchia/ Next generation Azzurri players:

If there is one justified criticism of Inter squad, it has been the lack of Italian players, either home-grown or acquired. With UEFA rules demanding 8 players who are trained in association including 4 in-house, it makes perfect sense for Inter to sign up young Italians. In Leonardo Bonucci Inter had a player meeting both criteria, but were beaten in the race by Arch rivals Juventus.

Possibility: Ranochchia is rumoured to have already been signed. Medium probability for other youngsters.

Arrival of a (preferably left footed) winger:

If there was one noticeable flaw in Inter, it was the lack of genuine width option, with the fullbacks bombing forward to provide the width. With Maicon likely to leave, it would mean Inter will lose that option too. So it is pertinent that Inter sign a winger of quality. Unfortunately the two biggest names viz. David Silva and Angel Di Maria have both been snapped up. Juan Vargas would be an excellent acquisition if that happens.

Possibility: Medium

THE LAST PART COULD NOT BE PASTED AS IT WAS MAKING THE PIOST OUT OF BOUNDS

Transfer Watch – Manchester United FC

Nitin Goel 12:19 pm | The transfer saga continues with little more than a month to go before the window closes. TheHardTackle's Nitin Goel takes a look at Sir Alex Ferguson's shopping list.…
“We have money to spend” – A phrase said often enough by the men who matter most at Manchester United, but the spending for the past two seasons suggests otherwise. No matter how much David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson deny it, but the club’s purchasing power is certainly limited by the huge debt upon them. While Sir Alex continues to say that there is no value in the market, it might very well be in the defence of the Glazers who themselves are under great pressure from the fans to sell the club.

Sir Alex and David Gill – Pretending to have the riches?

Confirmed Player Transfers:

Arrivals:
We have already made two signings – both of which were confirmed during the last season only. With every Tom, Dick and Harry linked to Old Trafford, it would be interesting to see if Sir Alex makes any more signings contrary to the widespread feeling of having no money to spend.

1) Javier Hernandez: United fans are expecting great things from ‘Chicharito’ after his eye catching performances in the World Cup. The young Mexican scored two goals in South Africa including a stunner against Argentina. The six million pound price-tag is being looked upon as a bargain considering the high prices prevailing in the market.

Chicharito – New hero of Old Trafford?

2) Chris Smalling: The young defender was signed from Fulham in January and is considered to be a replacement for the aging and injury-prone Rio Ferdinand. His English nationality might also have been a factor in his signing with the new home-grown players rule.

Departures:
Several players have made their move away from Old Trafford this summer. Sir Alex has released six of his players from the academy this season suggesting a wage-cut to meet the increasing expenses.

1) Zoran Tosic: The Serbian was sold to CSKA Moscow after an indifferent one and a half years at Old Trafford. He was sent on loan to German side Koln in January ’10 and after he expressed his desire to play for another club, he was sold as and when the best deal arrived.

2) Ben Foster: The goalkeeper was sold to Birmingham City for six million pounds. Foster made some excellent saves but his regular mistakes in games often proved costly for United. Despite Sir Alex’s continuous backing for him in front of the media, Foster did not make most of his chances in absence of Edwin Van Der Sar and was hence sold in the summer.

3) Daniel Drinkwater: The 20 year old midfielder is sent on a season-long loan to Cardiff City.

Released: Tom Heaton, David Gray, Ron-Robert Zieler, Febian Brandy, Sam Hewson and Scott Moffatt were released from their contracts.

Rumoured IN:

Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to send Danny Welback and midfielder Tom Cleverly on loan to premier league clubs, while some of the other younger players from the academy might also be loaned out as well. The club has been linked with loads of players for every position, but the fans would be keen on seeing some of them in a Red shirt.

Wesley Sneijder: The Dutchman had a wonderful last season with Inter Milan and was instrumental in the club achieving the treble. Although his twenty-nine million pounds price tag is said to be huge by Sir Alex, given the midfielder’s immense talent and United’s previous spendings in the range of 18m for the likes of Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves and Carrick might make it seem to be a bargain. Also, with Paul Scholes coming to the end of his career and no ready-made replacement around, Sneijder might just be the player for the Red Devils.
Apr. 20, 2010 - Milan, Italy - Football - Inter Milan v FC Barcelona UEFA Champions League Semi Final First Leg - San Siro Stadium, Milan, Italy - 20/4/10..Wesley Sneijder of Inter Milan.

Mesut Özil: The talented winger is linked to Old Trafford after his brilliant performance for Germany in the World Cup. The rumours were fuelled after the player refused to renew his contract with his current club Werder Bremen. Özil was contacted by Manchester United to sign for them as a teenager, but he refused to accept the offer and instead signed for Werder Bremen. The player’s versatility to play across the midfield and his current form makes him a lucrative signing.

Mario Balotelli: The 19 year old Italian has been linked to both Manchester clubs this summer. Although, he has not yet set the Italian league on fire for Inter Milan, he is considered to be one of the most exciting talents coming up. With Manchester City ever ready to break the bank, Balotelli might just be heading to the blue half of Manchester.

Rumoured OUT:
While experienced managers like Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger see no value in the market, there are proverbial bank-breakers like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City. Several United players are linked away to these clubs which cause jitters in the mind of the United faithful.

Patrice Evra: The left back has been linked to join Mourinho at Real Madrid. Although Jose’s first choice is Ashley Cole, but the Frenchman is also under the ‘Special One’s ‘ radar given Chelsea’s unwillingness to sell their superstar. This move is highly unlikely though as Evra has regularly committed his future at Old Trafford in front of the media.

Wayne Rooney: The PFA player of the year of last season is in demand by the top Spanish Clubs. Although Rooney had a poor World Cup, yet his last season’s exploits have made him one of the hottest properties around. But all the speculations can be put to an end shortly with Rooney on the verge of signing a new deal with the club.

Nemanja Vidic: One player who has ended the speculation is Nemanja Vidic. The club has announced that he will sign a new four year deal when he returns from holiday.
Dec 06, 2008 - Manchester, UK - Premier League: Manchester United 1 V 0 Sunderland.Manchester United's NEMANJA VIDIC celebrates scoring the winner against Sunderland Photo via Newscom
Vidic is going nowhere!

There is still more than a month to go before the transfer window closes, but Sir Alex has already said that he is done his shopping for the upcoming season. It would be very interesting to see if the wily old fox remains true to his word or he buys one more player in order to restore his grip on the Barclays Premier League.

Player Movements

Loan Returns

Edson Braafheid
He had an anonymous season on loan at Celtic. He failed to make any impression during his stay in Celtic and was finally dropped from their starting line up. It is highly likely that he will be third choice to Badstuber and Diego Contento. Bayern will preferably like to sell him off to Ajax as a swap + cash offer in place of Gregory Van Der Wiel.

Breno Borges
The highly rated youngster comes back after an uneventful loan spell at FC Nuremberg. He might be off for another loan spell for more exposure and experience. He has been tipped to replace one of the two ageing centre halves in Demichelis and Van Buyten.

Andreas Ottl
The talented youth product was sent for more match practice in FC Nuremberg. But considering the solidity of the Bayern midfield and the home coming of yet another talent in Kroos, Ottl might be let go off.

Jose Ernesto Sosa
Returns from Estudiantes. The attacking midfielder is likely to leave the Bayern set up for good.Either of Napoli and Parma seems to be his destination.

David Alaba
Van Gaal has a plan for Bayern’s youngest ever player to feature in a competitive fixture for the future. His recent stint in the ongoing U-19 European Championship against England has impressed the Bayern faithful. His contract has already been extended. He has been promoted from Bayern Munich II to play with the senior team for the first time.

Toni Kroos
The young German prodigy is back after a phenomenal loan spell at Leverkusen. Bayer wished to keep his services for the coming season as well. But Van Gaal wants to include him in his plans for the next season.

Confirmed Transfers

Out: Luca Toni(Genoa)
Toni followed up his excellent goal scoring record at Fiorentina in the furst season with Bayern. He was the leading goal scorer of Bundesliga in 2007-08. Even though he was sidelined due to a long injury spell, he still managed to remain Bayern’s top goal scorer for the second successive season as well. Last year Toni fell out with Van Gaal when the former was substituted at half time. He was also fined for leaving the stadium during the match. Later Bayern’s president Uli Hoeneß announced publicly that Toni should be on his way back to Italy on a free transfer after the season is over.
After having moderate success in Roma, where he netted five times in seventeen games, for the past six months’ loan spell, he is finally let go for free to Genoa to start his career afresh.

Michael Rensing(Released)
The understudy of Kahn failed to live up to the expectation and has been released at the end of the season.

Andreas Görlitz(Released)
The Bavarian right back was sent to Karlsruhe on loan for more than two seasons. After the end of the loan spells he failed to impress Van Gaal and was demoted to the reserve squad and now he has been released.

Christian Lell(Hertha Berlin)
After the Bayern youth graduate failed to make his mark he was finally offloaded to Hertha Berlin. This ended a 17 year connection dating back to July 1, 1993 when he joined Bayern Munich’s youth academy.

Mehmet Ekici(FC Nuremberg, loan)
Another youth graduate from the Bayern ranks has been loaned out for an entire season to experience first team football.

Georg Niedermeier(VFB Stuttgart)
The defender was on loan to Stuttgart last year. This year he was finally sold to them.

Rumours that Bayern fans would like to see materialize

Signing of Gregory Van Der Wiel from Ajax
This signing, coupled with the fact that Lahm is staying put, will put Bayern’s fullback-related issues to rest.Van Der Wiel, a proven talent, perfomrance-wise had a great World Cup finals tournament and managed to attract Premier League interest. If Bayern get hold of him, they can play him in the rightback position and subsequently swap Lahm back to the leftback position, thereby letting Badstuber play in a more central role.

THT Verdict: High

A move for the flying Portuguese
Rumours are ripe that in order to neutralise its fullback blues, Bayern are looking forward to sign Fábio Coentrão from Benfica. The Portuguese League Breakthrough player of the year has made his mark in this year’s world cup finals. Signing him would let Bayern do away with Van Der Wiel signing, provided they keep hold off prized asset Lahm.

THT Verdict:Medium

Fabio Coentrao Portugal World Cup 2010 Portugal V Brazil (0-0) 25/06/10 Group G in Durban FIFA World Cup 2010 Photo Robin Parker Fotosports International Photo via NewscomCan be an ideal solution to Bayern’s prolonged left-sided pangs

The curious case of pre-agreement with Khedira
A surprise breath of fresh rumors sprung to the fore when Sami Khedira’s agent disclosed a pre-agreement between Bayern officials and Khedira, on the brink of Khedira’s transfer talk with Real Madrid. This does come as a surprise as Bayern are solid in the holding midfield area. Maybe Bayern are planning to release Schweinsteiger into a more offensive role or willing to deploy Khedira as an understudy of veteran Van Bommel or a replacement for wanted star Schweinsteiger.

THT Verdict: Depends on Schweinsteiger’s transfer talk.

Signing of the Bosnian Footballer Of The Year
With Klose in premiership link and Mario Gomez’s form sliding steadily downhill, it is rumored that Van Gaal might be interested to offload the two German internationals and bring in Džeko to partner Müller and Olic upfront. Speculations are high that Džeko, one of the most consistent hottest properties of Bundesliga for the past two years, might be sold to Bayern and Gomez will be used as a makeweight in the cash plus swap deal.

THT Verdict: Medium as Džeko’s transfer to Milan has been stalled for some time now.

Rumours Bayern fans would NOT like to see materialize

Selling off Lahm to Manchester United
Manchester United have yet again rekindled their desire to sign the 5-time Uefa Team Of The Year candidate. Probably, the Devils are looking to fill in the gap of Gary Neville for the future. In order to make the deal go through they are also rumored to have been ready to use either Park or Berbatov as makeweights along with cash.
Now we have seen in the past how diffifcult it had been for United to do business with Bayern. Bayern themselves are struggling with their leftback pangs. In such a dire situation of Bayern defensive shambles, it is hard to believe that Bayern would accept the overtures of United for the diminutive versatile genius. If and only if the deal monetarily favors Bayern in a way so that they can snap up either or both Van Der Wiel and Coentrão, might they give a nod for the transfer.

THT Verdict: Unlikely considering Bayern’s attitude towards selling their stalwarts to their European rivals in England. It all depends on whether Bayern can get Lahm to sign a new contract.

Schweinsteiger to Premier League/La Liga
Once a Bayern Munich youth graduate was one of stars of the World Cup finals for Die Mannschaft, not for the first time though. At the age of 26 he has already played in more than eighty international matches for them. In this World Cup also he has produced three assists, the highest number of assists in the World Cup, jointly shared with co-patriot and team mate Müller. The Golden Ball nominee has been under intense speculations of leaving Allianz Arena this summer, with interest coming from both the Premier League and La Liga. In a recent interview he voiced his opinion that playing abroad is an opportunity that excites him.
Interests from Chelsea and Real Madrid has been immense since then. Though Bayern has warned off any possible suitors for Schweinsteiger. But Bayern’s recent link up with Khedira hints that they might sell off Schweinsteiger as the player has expressed his desire to play abroad for a change.

THT Verdict: Medium.

Thomas Müller to Chelsea/Manchester City
It was expected that the World Cup Golden Boot winner will be the cynosure of the transfer market. The Bayern Munich youth graduate has carried his successful club form to the national level and is duly wanted by the English champions Chelsea and their rivals Manchester City. After his spectacular heroics in the World Cup it is expected that Bayern would only politely brush off such audacious advances of other clubs.

THT Verdict: Nil
—————————————
We, at TheHardTackle, expect Louis Van Gaal to respect the philosophy of chairman Rummenigge and the fans’ sentiment before making a move for the future. Van Gaal has shown interest in grooming the Bayern youth products and already Diego Contento is a first team member, David Alaba has been promoted to the senior team and Mehmet Ekici has been sent on loan to gain first team experience. But in the wake of the resurgence of Spanish and English clubs, it is for everybody to see how Bayern cope with the upcoming battle of the transfer market.

Transfer Watch – Arsenal FC-I @thehardtackle.com

sounak 12:50 am | Arsenal, after spending 6 trophy-less years have their task cut out as they challenge for the premiership crown yet… THT looks at what needs to be done

It might sound a bit harsh, but the truth is, Arsene Wenger and his men have simply not been ‘good enough’ in the last five seasons at the helm of the English Premier League. Arsenal, with their illustrious history and a small case of “living up to the Invincibles’ chapter”, have to balance between ‘rebuilding a team for the future’ and ‘winning trophies to retain star players’, and to some extent, even gratify the Gunners’ inimitable fan-following. Under Wenger, we are yet to miss out on European football on even a single occasion. That in itself is a tremendous achievement; but for a club of Arsenal’s stature, basking in the glory of such an accomplishment is simply a thoroughfare towards mediocrity.

With the dare-to-say simple objective of winning the league, Arsenal FC needs to tighten the screws on quite a few departments in their team.

The Endless Goal-Keeping saga

Watching ‘The Ring’ all alone in a movie theater is considered equivalent to watching the exhibits of our men guarding the goal posts in a football match. For Manuel Almunia, time is running out; he needs to get his act together, or find a new club who can tolerate such inconsistency in front of the goal. When he should have concentrated on improving his goal-keeping skills and making his ‘No.1’ spot assured in the Arsenal system, he went about talking about playing for England. It is difficult to fathom that Manu is the same guy who replaced Jens Lehmann for the ‘Keeper’s slot’ with a splendid first season at Arsenal.

TheHardTackle Verdict:

We haven’t heard from any club who might be interested in Manuel. It is a request to all Arsenal fans – if they hear about any club/manager/agent/stadium care-taker interested in him, please get in touch with our team at TheHardTackle; we’ll let Arsene know about it.

When it was the perfect timing for securing a place in the Arsenal XI, Lukas Fabianski, affectionately called ‘Flapianski’, made matters really difficult for himself at the club. With a horrendous display at the Champions League Last 16 round and a few critical blunders in the league, the Pole had done permanent damage to his reputation as far as the Arsenal fans were concerned. Wenger, on the other hand, for some very strange reason, still believes that the handsome Pole can come back to his best and be Arsenal’s No.1.

TheHardTackle Verdict:

Considering his young age (25), Fabianski, to everybody’s surprise, might get another season to prove himself at Arsenal, if the manager doesn’t invest on a new keeper.

With one terrific display at Fulham, Vito ‘The Don’ Mannone had earned a lot of extol, but a few more of his outings proved costly for Arsenal as he made small mistakes, keeping with the tradition of Arsenal keepers of recent times. Wojciech Szczesny, the bright young talent at Arsenal, is tipped as ‘taking over’ the big mantle in the near future or even at the start of this season depending on the fate of the above-mentioned stalwarts at the club.

Transfers so far:

None

Rumors doing the rounds:

Every footballer on this planet, who has worn the goal-keeping gloves, has been linked to AFC in the last one year or so.

Strong rumors suggested that Arsenal had made a bid for Mark Schwarzer with a decent 2 Million on offer. After it got rejected, Arsenal ‘upped their bid’ with an extra ‘Goal-Keeper Coach’ deal added to the player’s contract. Since Fulham are without a manager now, nothing conclusive has come out of the above rumor. Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax, Rene Adler from Bayer Leverkusen, Joe Hart from Manchester City, David James from Portsmouth and even Russian keeper Igor Akinfeev have all been linked to Arsenal in the past few months.

It is a matter of immense curiosity as to who will start in that No. 1 jersey when Arsenal play at Anfield in the opening day of the season.

A Goal-keeper cum Keeper-Coach deal. Not good enough?

The Story of the Back Four

With William Gallas and Mikael Sylvester released and Phillipe Senderos sold to Fulham, Arsenal need to replace massive experience with young defenders who are ready to step up to the level of the Premiership. Many believe Arsenal were incompetent at the defense, which led to their eventual ‘drop out’ of the Premiership Title race. Individual mistakes were in abundance, and the much-needed co-ordination between the Back Four was clearly a missing component. Thomas Vermaelen, who is willing to ‘give his all’ to make sure we compete for the top prize, is conferred with the ‘senior role’ in the heart of our defense. Medical Room Elite Member, Johann Djourou, who has been with Arsenal for almost 6 years, needs to keep himself fit and competent for an entire season. Promising to Arsenal fans about the need to be aggressive is excellent, but keeping that promise is much more important. Sol Campbell, a man with vast experience under his belt, is understood to stay at the club for at least one more season. Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy would resume regular responsibilities at Full Back, with Clichy clearly under pressure to perform at his best; Englishman Kieran Gibbs and French lad Armand Traore are almost ready to take up the left wing-back responsibilities from him.

Transfers so far:

- Phillipe Senderos ended his ‘misery’ with Arsenal, as he joined Fulham FC on a three-year contract.

- William Gallas needs to convince ‘Panathinaikos’ to keep his high wages intact to play football next season.

- Veteran Full Back, Mikael Sylvester, the most shocking signing in Arsenal history, might be a free transfer target for neighbors West Ham United.

- Laurent Koscielny (10 Mil) from Lorient FC has been entered right into the defensive line-up. The man, who made a name for himself in the French League last season, is considered to be a strong defender in the air and is highly rated as the replacement for William Gallas at Arsenal. Wenger has already made bold statements about the young Center Back – such is his confidence in the man.

Koscielny gelling with the team at pre-season

- Havard Nordtveit, after completing two loan spells, is back at the club. He looked really sharp at pre-season matches and is almost ready for any defensive cover if required by Arsene.

The Men at the Center of the Park

With the experience of Czech skipper, Tomas Rosicky and Russian ace Andre Arshavin, Arsenal have enough craftsmanship in the middle of the park. Samir Nasri, who is in top pre-season form, will try to prove his detractors wrong, as he was dropped from the French squad in the recently concluded World Cup in South Africa. Abou Diaby and Denilson would have to pick up their respective games and show more consistency throughout the season, if Arsenal are to challenge for the Premiership. Alexandre Song, who was the most improved player for Arsenal last season, would love to carry on the good work of providing the defensive shield in front of the Back Four. After serving a loan spell at Bolton, Jack Wilshere is back in business at The Emirates, and Arsene wants him to gain further experience staying at the club than going out for loan spells.

The Mother of all Transfer Sagas

Cesc Fabregas, the Spanish prodigy, who was ‘picked up’ by Arsenal from the Barcelona training academy in the middle of the night with the help of Armée de l’Air way back in 2003, is under tremendous pressure to play for Arsenal Football Club next season. There is no qualm about his dedication and love for Arsenal, but sadly, his alien DNA has made his stay here in the London a difficult proposition. With almost every footballer from a certain Spanish football club backing our club captain to join their forces, it would ultimately be an unfeasible task to keep him at Arsenal.

TheHardTackle Verdict:

How we wish Cesc would win trophies at Arsenal and retire after maybe thirteen years, permanently making a name for himself in Arsenal folklore as the greatest Arsenal player ever! But alas, such a possibility looks highly improbable. TheHardTackle predicts one more year at Arsenal for Cesc, trying to win that elusive Premier League crown.

Transfer Watch – Arsenal FC-II @thehardtackle.com

part 2 of THT's looks on arsenal

Transfers so far:

- Fran Merida – Went on a free transfer to his home-country club, Athletico Madrid.

The ‘Striking’ Department:

Robin Van Persie, after spending 6 years at Arsenal, knows very well that the ‘Striking Frontman’ responsibilities are very much on his shoulders this time around. Having spent quality time almost every season in the Medical Room, the Dutch ace never lived up to his ‘potential’, and Arsenal craved for his services every season. After a successful World Cup outing, the former Feyenoord hitman is all set for a booming season at Arsenal, taking up the mantle of the No.1 striker in the team. We would hope his dreams and ambitions come true.

Carlos Vela and Nicolas Bendtner had decent World Cup outings, with the latter scoring for his country on occasions. With Vela being handed the No. 11 shirt and Bendtner slowly becoming an imposing figure in the Arsenal frontline, the attacking prospects of Arsenal look safe and sound.

Not getting picked for the World Cup squad, would probably be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal speed ace Theo Walcott. In four years at Arsenal, Theo had a few exceptional outings, but overall he has been a disappointment, if we take into account his enormous potential. Another one of those players who spends a considerable amount of time with the Physios, the England star needs to add a season of ‘Living-up-to-the-expectation’ football to his otherwise insignificant Arsenal resume.

Transfers so far:

- Marouane Chamakh – The much anticipated free transfer finally happened and Chamakh left Bordeaux for the club of his dreams. The Moroccan adds a different element to the Arsenal attack. He is strong in the air, a quick mover with the ball, a clever poacher and an unpredictable character, making life hard for his opposition defenders. He’ll have to fight for his place with Bendtner for that second striking role in the team.

- Eduardo – The Brazilian-Croatian striker left Arsenal for Sparta Prague for a suspected fee of 6 Million. ‘The Eduardo before that incident in Birmingham City’ was never to be seen again in Arsenal colors; he never got back his mental fortitude to compete at the same level he used to, before the incident. It was really a sad moment for Arsenal as he messaged his last words for the Arsenal fans before leaving the city of London.

Possible transfers, young players from Youth-system etc…

The Arsenal Youth Team has a lot of players who can easily make their way into the first team; in fact, many of them, have already experienced ‘Senior Team’ action. Nacer Barazite, Francis Coquelin, Emmanuel Frimpong, Henri Lansbury, Mark Randall, Sanchez Watt and most certainly Jay Emmanuel Thomas, who looked phenomenal in a pre-season outing, are all ‘kids’ in midfield ready to step up into the next level. Kyle Bartley, Thomas Cruise, Kerrea Gilbert, Gavin Hoyte and Craig Eastmond who filled in for Song last season, are worthy of first team action at the back of the field within a year or so. Jay Simpson and Giles Sunu are very decent strikers in the youth system and the former has got valuable loan outing in the last season.

As far as the transfers are concerned, Arsenal needs to buy a top-class goal-keeper for a long-term solution; for a club of Arsenal’s stature, a stop-gap solution is a ludicrous idea. One more experienced defender at the back who can ‘guide’ the talented young stars and who can be an aggressive and a solid figure, would really be the perfect candidate to help Arsenal end their long and annoying dry run of Trophies.

Transfer Watch – Manchester City @ thehardtackle.com

Guest Author 03:15 pm |Find out everything you need to know about Manchester City's transfer activities with TheHardTackle's Guest Author Prithwish Deb…

Over the years the Blue side of Manchester had always lived under the shadow of its high profile rival Manchester United. Everything changed in the summer of 2008 when they were purchased by the Abu Dhabi United Group headed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, making the club one of the most financially powerful in the world.

What followed was a series of high profile signings, starting with Robinho (which broke the British transfer record), in the summer of 2009 City spent over 100 million pounds with the signing of players like Carlos Tevez, Emanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott, Kolo Toure and Roque Santa Cruz.

In December 2009, City signed Roberto Mancini after Mark Hughes was sacked following some disappointing results, he also spilled the cash in the winter transfer window and bought Adam Johnson and Patrick Vieira, but all those big deals couldn’t find them a place in the Champions League. So this summer they were expected to spend more and make a real challenge for the Premier League Title.

Confident Manchini:

Roberto Mancini has been fairly confident with the cash he has been able to spend and went to the extent of saying the other ‘big’ clubs are scared of City’s spending spree. The media has linked almost every other player with Manchester City which shows what money can do to a club’s fortune.

This season Man City have so far completed the transfer of Jerome Boateng, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov and a host of other players are being linked to them.

Confirmed Player Transfers

Out :

Benjani Mwaruwari - The Zimbabwean international’s contract expired.

Martin Petrov – After the arrivals of some high profile signings Man City didn`t extend the contract of Petrov and he was released for free. He subsequently joined Bolton Wanderers.

Sylvinho - Currently without a club after his One year contract with City ended.

Valeri Bojinov - Having spent the last year at Parma on loan from City, Parma decided to sign him permanently for a 5 year deal.

In :

Jerome Boateng - German international Boateng moved to the Eastlands for 10.4 million pounds on a five-year deal from Hamburg.

Yaya Toure – After a lot of negotiation between Yaya`s agent and Man City, Barcelona decided to sell their No.24 to City for a deal rumoured to be around 24 million pounds. Yaya joined his brother Kolo at City and has since revealed that it was his ‘dream’ to play for Manchester City.

David Silva – Spending his entire career in Spain, Silva decided it was time for him to move to the unknown territory. City was always monitoring Silva`s position at Valencia and struck a deal of 25million pounds with them.

Aleksandar Kolarov – Known for his long range goals, the left-back signed from Lazio in a deal worth 16 million pounds.

Rumoured In :

James Milner – As this article is being written it is believed that Milner is having discussions with Villa over his future. Milner has made up his mind on leaving Villa and it wouldn`t be a bad idea for Martin O Neil to sell him as City are ready to pay a huge sum for the Englishman.

THT Verdict: High

Fernando Torres – Ever since Liverpool missed out on Champion`s League place he has been linked with heavyweights like Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter Milan and City have now joined the race with Mancini revealing that they are planning a massive 70 million pound bid on Torres. Talk of crazy, crazy money.

THT Verdict: Medium

Mario Balotelli – Balotelli has long been linked with a move to Manchester City and a reunion with his former boss looks to be on the cards as City are ready to pay 30 million pounds for Super Mario.

THT Verdict: High

Edin Dzeko - Rumours are, if City fails to land either of Balotelli or Torres they might look to bring in Dzeko with a cash plus Santa Cruz on offer to Wolfsburg.

THT Verdict: Medium

Ramires - Ramires was impressive for Brazil in the World Cup and both Chelsea and Man City are looking for his signature, but it is believed Ramires has decided to snub City in favour of Premier League Champions.

THT Verdict: Low

Rumoured Out :

Craig Bellamy - With the likes of Adebayor, Tevez being preferred to him and more strikers likely to join City before the transfer window closes, the fiery Welshman’s future looks uncertain. Tottenham are closely monitoring his situation and is likely to make a move for Bellamy.

THT Verdict: Medium

Stephen Ireland - Ireland has been playing for City since he was 15 yrs old, now at 23 coach Mancini has told him to look for a new club as he no longer features in his plan. Aston Villa, Fulham are rumoured to be interested in him. Looks more likely he will move to Villa with Milner moving in opposite direction.

THT Verdict: High

Nedum Onuoha - A Manchester City Youth academy product whose career has been hampered with injuries looks likely to move to a new club with Sunderalnd, Aston Villa and Everton looking for his signature.

THT Verdict: High

Robinho - The player whose signing broke the British transfer record but since then hasn`t been able to settle down in England. He looks likely to move out after spending the latter half of the season on loan at Santos and is likely to make the deal permanent and move to Brazil. AC Milan and Shakhtar Doentsk are also looking for his signature.

THT Verdict: High

Wayne Bridge - With the signing of Kolarov, Bridge is all set and likely to warm the bench at the City of Manchester Stadium. Rumours indicate that Roy Hodgson is looking to add Bridge at Anfield, as Liverpool need players at left back. With a guaranteed starting spot and a club in the stature of Liverpool it will tough for Wayne to say no.

THT Verdict: Medium

Other Likely Loan deals :

With premier league deciding on the rule of 25-man squad limit Manchester City will have to cut down their squad strength with players like Shaun Wright Phillips, Jo, Michael Johnson, Caicedo are all likely to be sent on loan.

With such a massive transfer kitty and a collection such big high profile players, anything but the Premier League Trophy would be called a very poor season.

Goal.com Top 20 Transfers Of Summer 2010
Which players have been the best buys and top movers?

By Ewan Macdonald
Sep 1, 2010 3:15:00 AM

Each European transfer window, Goal.com International decides on the best acquisitions, in order from 1 to 20, and we encourage you to let us know your thoughts.

We judge based on:
The player's overall ability (this being the most important factor)
How the player will fit into his new line-up
How the player will adapt to his new surroundings, and vice-versa
The transfer fee payable, if any, and any other financial details known. (Transfer fees unconfirmed by either club or otherwise unknown are given as approximations and are marked in italics.)

For the reason that players arriving on permanent deals tend to be more adaptable and often more important, there is preference given to full transfers over loans. That is not to say that loans, co-ownerships etc. cannot be included, but players must be extra special to justify a space on such a move.

With all of that explained, it's time to see the final list! It was updated at 03:17 BST on Wednesday 1 September - for the last time this summer.

1
David VILLA
Barcelona - Valencia - €40m

One of the blockbuster deals of the summer - and the best of the bunch by a margin. 'El Guaje' will add more firepower to an already explosive Barcelona attack. After his successful World Cup exploits with Spain, he should be the odds on favourite to win the Pichichi.

2

Javier MASCHERANO
Barcelona - Liverpool - €21m

They say good things come to those who wait. Well, Masch had to cool his heels at Anfield for a season longer than he'd have liked, but now he's got his wish. Barcelona missed out on Cesc Fabregas, but in Javier they have a midfielder who may well be the final piece of the puzzle.

3

Zlatan IBRAHIMOVIC
AC Milan - Barcelona - €8m+€24m

The up-front fee isn't surely known, but the final one is. Ibrahimovic will almost certainly justify his price tag at Milan. He knows how to score in Serie A better than anyone, and despite being labled a Barca flop he is one of the world's best at scoring a match's first goal.

4
Marouane CHAMAKH
Arsenal - Bordeaux - Free

A classic Arsenal value buy that has the potential to be an extremely savvy signing. The ex-Bordeaux striker gives the Gunners a much needed aerial presence up front and could terrorise opposing backlines this season with Robin van Persie.

5
DIEGO
Wolfsburg - Juventus - €15.5m

His sole season at Juventus was ignominious, but his year at Wolfsburg won't be. Diego is one of the Bundesliga's biggest talents - it's a league built for him, and he it.

6
Yaya TOURE Manchester City - Barcelona - €29m

City have flexed their financial muscle this summer and the Ivorian adds more steel to an already industrial strength midfield. Will team up with brother Kolo on the defensive side for the Citizens.
7
ROBINHO AC Milan - Manchester City - €18m

An absolute steal at €18m - well, plus bonuses. Robinho can be seriously discussed as one of the world's great talents. The only sticking points: his attitude, and if he and Ronaldinho can play together if Robinho's not up front - which he won't be. If Milan can get past that, they're onto a winner.

8
Simon KJAER
Wolfsburg - Palermo - €14m

Wolfsburg pulled one the coups of the summer by luring the defensive stalwart to the Bundesliga. The German outfit beat such heavyweights as Manchester United, Liverpool and AC Milan to the punch to land the highly-rated Danish defender.

9
Mario BALOTELLI Manchester City - Inter - €30m

Undoubtedly the most protracted summer transfer soap opera that actually went through. After weeks of negotiations, Man City and inter agreed on his transfer fee long after 'Super Mario' had reached personal terms with his new club. Finally, his much awaited reunion with former mentor Roberto Mancini is realised.

10
Mesut OEZIL
Real Madrid - Werder Bremen - €15m

One of Germanys' 2010 World Cup star could've left Werder for free this time next year, but Real Madrid were in no mood to wrangle with their rivals across Europe. The move was completed in a space of four days, and it was a visit to Florentino Perez's chalet which closed the deal.

11
Ricardo CARVALHO

Real Madrid- Chelsea - €8m

Not the modest transfer you'd normally associate with Real Madrid, or Chelsea for that matter. But the 32-year-old centre-back will be seen as one of the more vital signings for Los Blancos this summer as he gives the team invaluable experience and security in defence.

12

Yoann GOURCUFF
Lyon - Bordeaux - €22m

His time at Bordeaux was mightily impressive: even if he tailed off slightly last season there is no doubting Gourcuff's natural talent. That's why Lyon have dropped so much money on him, and that's why they're almost certain to have made a wise investment.

13

Milos KRASIC
Juventus - CSKA Moscow - €15m

Like many transfers involving Juventus this summer, the Krasic deal went on and off countless times over the past few months. The talented Serbian winger/attacking midfielder only ever wanted to join the Old Lady, but CSKA and Juve haggled for months until both could agree on a tranfer fee.

14

David SILVA Manchester City - Valencia - €30.2m

The uber-talented winger takes his trickery to Manchester after seven years in Spain. Did not play a major role in la Furia Roja's triumph in South Africa but will hope to justify his lofty price-tag by helping City qualify for the Champions League.

15

Nicolas BURDISSO
Roma - Inter - €8m

As risk-free as it comes. He was one of Roma's best players last season and will now join the capital club on a permanent basis. The Argentine defender is strong and versatile. What's not to like?
16

Loic REMY Marseille - Nice- €15m

One of the most sought after young strikers in Europe over the summer was widely expected to be heading to the Premier League. But the 23-year-old decided to stay in Ligue 1 after being seduced by reigning French champions Marseille. Not even a slight heart problem during his medical could scupper the move.

17

RAMIRES Chelsea - Benfica - €22m

The Brazilian midfielder's move to Stamford Bridge was one of many on-again-off-again transfer sagas this summer. After a hard-fought haggle with Benfica, the Blues finally got their man on a four-year contract to replenish a midfield that has seen Deco and Michael Ballack depart.
18

Stephen IRELAND Aston Villa - Manchester City - €9.8m

The Irish midfielder was involved in the convoluted player-plus-cash James Milner transfer saga which saw the two players exchange clubs. Many would argue that with Milner costing Man City €27m, and Ireland valued at just under €10m, it was Aston Villa who got the better end of the bargain.

19
Carlos EDUARDO Rubin Kazan - Hoffenheim - €20m

Russian clubs continue to show their spending and pulling power as Rubin Kazan splashed out a reported €20 million to sign the promising and under-rated Brazilian attacking midfielder from Hoffenheim.

20

Aleksandr KOLAROV Manchester City - Lazio - €19.3m

The Serb will be keen to show off his rocket of a left foot for the Citizens. His marauding runs into opposition territory will sorely be missed by Lazio fans but will be a thing to behold for the City faithful at Eastlands.

Horrible list from a horrible writers. IDidn't even get zlatan fee right. In what world is spending 40 mil on a player same age as Zlatan and selling him for less than half what you paid best move of summer?

and 30 mil on yaya toure?! WOW

The Villa move was first simply because it was Barcelona and a lot of money. Bartha are the flavour of the month and it's fucking disgusting.

If we had got Villa for 40 and Barca had got Zlatan for 24 then Zlatan would be first simply because it's Barcelona.

Everybody needs to stop wanking over them

Yup. Add to it, how can you possible say you 'consider price paid' and put a soon to be 29 year old for 40 mil @ #1. Unless it was zidane it's not

Secondly, people forget barca scored over 90 goals in la liga?! Yeah they were sooo desperate for a striker. I think mascerano could be described as a better deal. 26 in his prime, possibly best DM in world, definitely in the convo and gives them what they lack

^^^^ their judging of the players is a tad bit ******** at this point when they havent seen many of them in action yet,

IMO Ibra, Robinho, Masch etc (players who still need to make their debut) shouldnt be assessed just yet. I read today that ozil and khedira are finding their new social scene in spain difficult to adapt too, probably the language as well. They could easily go off track because of that like benzema did this past season. Goal.extra-crap always has shitty opnions.

Well, mostly it's selling Balotelli. That is the biggest change in their squad, and he wasn't a starter. The squad didn't really change a lot. The biggest difference though is indeed of course Mourinho/Benitez. That will influence their results a lot I expect. I don't fear Inter like I did last season. :)

You could compare 'Villa move' to our move for Ibra, barca has been wanting him since 2007-08, so finally after 3 strong years of flirtation and rumors he decided along with valencia's financial situation that it was time to move on. Same with us and Ibra. Nothing wrong in these moves, barca were stupid to sell eto in the first place.

I dunno.... who are there backups to pandev, etoo, milito?

Suazo?? coutinho? Bia Bia? Lol

They don't have depth upfront at all. Meaning if one gets hurt OR they need to rest someone they either go to 4-3-1-2 or some teen
