Looking back on the recent Neymar deal, I wonder if that had something to do with how quickly F and M moved in the beginning of the summer. Some people have criticized Milan for buying basically a whole new team in just one market, saying we'll need time and that this sort of thing never works.
However, it really looks like the Neymar deal just increased prices even more than they have been in the last couple years. Most if not all the players we signed were for steals. If the new management had decided to take a slower and steadier approach with 3-4 big players per market, then the prices would just keep going up every year. Maybe Fassone recognized the incomin inflation and decided to act quick. Milan now has an entirely new team that can compete for years. And if it's successful right away, the excitement will keep growing and revenue will flood in. Then Milan can focus on 1 or 2 star deals every year to keep improving the team, going after the truly elite players. This summer has really been a masterclass, signing that many players for such smart prices
