Yeah, some of Maldini/Boban moves were great (Theo, Leao, Bennacer), but I can't have a high opinion of management who:
- is going desperately after Higuain (shameful, even with his football skills considered) while having Bacca;
- agrees to exchange Bonucci with Caldara as 1:1, while Caldara was unproven in 4-men-defence;
- takes Piątek for anything more than 1 euro;
- sells Cutrone while keeping limited, average and mannered Piatek;
- ignores our biggest need (LW) while spending tons of money on other, much stronger, positions;
- builds a squad around wingers while having just two talented, but slow and in bad shape;
- changes a coach and hires Giampaolo (ok, it was a bet, but the stakes were too high to risk that much);
- after sacking Giampaolo hires Pioli (the very definition of an average italian coach);
Even though the proportions between good and bad transfers are in favour of Maldini, then those biggest, most important decisions were average at most (Higuain: fail, Piątek: fail, Caldara: fail, Giampaolo: fail, Paqueta: average, Pioli: fail as for now).
On the bright side: with time they're making less mistakes.
