Goal Ratings:
Marco Amelia: 5.5
Barely had anything to do, and was a spectator for most of the game. Had limited vision for the equalizer, but should still have done much better with Radovanovic's shot.
Daniele Bonera: 6.5
Had some trouble with Garcia on the flank, but grew into the game and was formidable at the back. Had little impact in the final third, though.
Philippe Mexes: 6.5
An encouraging performance from the defender, who showed great reading of the game and fine positioning. Made a few decent blocks.
Alessandro Nesta: 7.0
The veteran had a strong game, making a number of vital interventions, especially in the first half. Positioned himself superbly, and showed immense anticipation.
Luca Antonini: 5.5
Huffed and puffed in the final third, but failed to offer a genuine threat. Was often stopped in his tracks and subsequently caught out of position.
Alexander Merkel: 7.0
The German had a fine game, showing a wide array of passes and flicks. Worked hard and covered a lot of ground as well. Almost provided an assist with a fine pass for Inzaghi after the break.
Massimo Ambrosini: 6.5
The midfielder did his fair share of defensive work, and made sure Milan had the upper hand in the center of the pitch. Kept it simple on the ball.
Antonio Nocerino: 7.0
The former Palermo and Juventus man had yet another good game. Worked tirelessly, and even threaded some fine passes, including the one that led to the opener.
Urby Emanuelson: 5.5
Drifted in and out of the game, and generally failed to impress. Looked isolated at times, and lacked inventiveness on other occasions.
Stephan El Shaarawy Top of the Match: 7.0
The forward took his goal superbly, and was a constant danger for Novara. Showed quick feet and mind, and great technique. Blasted a few chances horribly over the bar, but still had a very nice game.
Filippo Inzaghi: 6.0
Looked a bit rusty, and, at 38, was not as agile as he once was. Still, positioned himself superbly, but failed to convert the chances when they fell to him.
