Amadeus: ?But Ibra, there are 26 singers already, this is not football.?

Ibra: "Sell them to Liverpool who are looking for 4 defenders.?

Can't get dribbled past if you always back away from the attackers and politely escort them into your own penalty box, instead of actually trying to take the ball away from them. Romagnoli's defending philosophy is based on 1940 France

While I think Roma bashing is a bit overblown, this is fucking brilliant

That is a fullback defending a counter on the wing in that video, you fucking muppet! :fp: You really don't know shit other than to post rumors and stats

You saw that moment when Romagnoli drove Lukaku away from direction to goal when he was looking to take Romagnoli on 1 vs 1 in Coppa Italia game?

I don?t have the video, but I?d rather see that from Romagnoli than see him fall on the grass dribbled or not being able to reach him again with his limited pace.

No lies, I loved the dig at France. But he's been a strong defender in many games where we're compact.

I agree it's time to part ways, but he isn't a crap defender.

Is it though?

If he settled for 4-4.5m, I?d keep him around rather than sell him at some lowball price.

Kj?r is bound to be injured and go through bad dips in form. Relying just on Gabbia / Kalulu would be a recipe for disaster.

I am not happy with with Romagnolis output, but I hope he gets some time off and re-evaluate things and come to his senses. If he forms a solid duo with Tomori, Kj?r could be our reliable veteran backup.

Just saw the news and dropped in to see some irrational meltdown over Ale. Not disappointed!

To be fair, I believe that is Mustafi.

what did he say?

Cassano said this about Inter and Conte:

"If we had been in the Champions League right now, I think we could've had our say in that tournament," Conte said after Sunday's victory, but Cassano thinks otherwise.

"Did Conte understand he is not Guardiola? Have his say in the Champions League? Come on. I am not dumb. Serie A is mediocre, Europe is something else. Inter are not dominating," he told Bobo TV on Twitch.

"They've been playing differently with Eriksen, they seem more solid, but they don't play great football. Atalanta do.

"Inter sit deep and wait for their opponents' move, then they try to reach Lukaku with long balls.

"Inter must win the title. They are going to win it. But they don't play well.

"If Conte made serious mistakes, it's only his fault. Inter were ridiculous in Champions League. They finished behind Shakhtar."

I agreed with the bold stuff. Shook me to my core that him and I agree on something.

Cassano is not stupid

Not always smart either

I must say tho that he's been pretty on point with many of his comments this season.

It's a good question. 4-4.5 is still on a high wage tho, and with Raiola we're probably talking a 2-3 year contract. I think the stars are just aligning now for Maldini to smoothly transition out the CB he didn't choose himself and who lacks pace.

From the managements perspective, it may be better to cut one's losses with him this summer and replace him with Simakan/someone similar, rather than keep him on as a top paid 3rd CB that you're anxious to start vs good strikers.

Renew Gigio? At any cost basically. I think this renewal should also include him getting the armband.

Renew Hakan? Yes, but this one is also a bit tricky. Hakan has not been a stable top performer. He was great before he got COVID and also looked fantastic in his first cameo after as a sub(two assists?), but since then he's looked lost. Still worth it tho because he's looking like the presumed starter at CAM for at least another two seasons. Or more, if he keeps performing.

Renew Romagnoli? He was just benched straight up, and Kjaer has been more impressive ever since he came. Why renew him on a big wage (4,5m for instance) when he's not a clear starter?

We'll see.

AC Milan market, Maldini follows Malen of PSV Eindhoven
Donyell Malen, 21-year-old forward and winger, could arrive at Milan in the June transfer market. As reported by CalcioMercato.com, Paolo Maldini has already followed the PSV Eindhoven player in recent months, and in June, he would like to sink the blow for the young player. Malen this season, for now, has scored 22 goals in 36 games in all competitions. In addition to scoring, Malen is also selfless. In fact, 8 winning assists have been provided this season for now. Excellent numbers for a good prospect, which, for a change, is managed by Mino Raiola. Male's valuation is around 25/30 million euros.

what characteristics gabbia has??
(some here rate him)
He is young , a primavera & on cheap wage & played better than Roma he was playing.
I think vulture posted some defending stats where Gabbia is always second or third topping the list like interceptions , duels , headers , etc ...

Or is it based on basic rules of defending?

https://streamable.com/1fdfsu
Thats a FB delaying the counter allowing his teammates to get into defensive positions behind him & preventing the attacker going central where its more dangerous.
The most important defensive tip is to lure the attacker to go wide & protect your Centre.
Roma backtrack even when the attacker reach shooting positions , centrally & on the edge of our area.
I witnessed him doing so several times.
I mean WTF is that if not dodging confrontations ?

when you don't have other characteristics, this one becomes special

Well, he is not wrong. Inter play the most disgusting, eye cringing, football in the league and they do play solely to Lukaku. They are a one man team in attack. A one man team like I've never seen before in my life actually bust because if you take away Lukaku they crumble. Most of their results would have been 0-0 or 1-1 because they'd still be solid in defence but attack is another story. I never wish for injuries on players, like I've said many times before, but God damn I want to see Merda go just 5 games without the donkey. Just 5

It would be nice if Lukaku got a fake positive corona test three times in a row and stay out for like two weeks.

We'll see.

You renew Romagnoli if you're afraid to get nothing for him and walk for free in a year, but yes doesn't deserve a big wage hike. Then again, not does Hakan. Hakan has been average to below average for 80% or more of his time here and has only had a slew of great months where we were all very impressed. The only reason to renew Hakan at a high wage is to not lose him for free.

Also, I don't think Maldini's plan is to sign Tomori and a player like Simakan, I don't think he wants 2 aggressive pressers as this would leave us very exposed to the more sneaky/smarter strikers which is why I think if we do offload Romagnoli we're more likely to go after a guy like Lovato than Simakan if Tomori is kept. And tbh I'd much rather take Tomori over Simakan since so far Tomori has shown a real want to integrate into Milan and Italian calcio and if he continues his upward trajectory he's a shoe in as he already will know the system, the coach, etc.

What made Inter really dangerous is that Conte adapted Skriniar and introduced Bastoni to his 3 man defense. That's unfortunately a really good constellation at the back and they got rid of the stop gaps that held them back.

This gives Lukaku the space in midfield/attack to make his runs that are so hard to defend.

Regarding contract negotiations: Taking form into consideration is a bit tricky, I mean sure ditching out a high salary if the Player is in bad form doesn't feel very good but on the other hand you also don't want players to get big raises the moment they hit a patch of good form. Imo you have to be just regarding both ends of the spectrum.

The only thing with Hakan that worries me is if he got some lasting damage from Covid, a bit fishy that they now accelerate the renewal so much. Apart from that he is a no brainer for me. When it comes to Roma we at least have some depth in the squad but good luck replacing Hakan.

It would be nice if Lukaku got a fake positive corona test three times in a row and stay out for like two weeks.

Nothing is stopping them. It's actually unreal how well everything worked out for them:
-No major injuries of starters for the WHOLE season
-Literally zero Covid cases for months
-Lukaku finding the form of his life. Literally carrying them on his back
-Milan and Juventus struggling with many injuries
-No European games
-Playing multiple times against opponents with missing key players (Fiorentina without Ribery, Castro and Milenkovic, Torino without Belotti, Sassuolo without Caputo when he was in great form, Napoli without Mertens, Juventus without De Light and Sandro, today Parma without Gervinho, etc.). It happens to play against teams with injuries, but it's just irritating that they never have such issues. Conte plays one and the same line up (only switching the LWB at times) literally every game and they don't even have a slight muscle problem. On the other hand Tomori is fatigued after playing one game...
-Getting away with countless cards. Especially Barella and Brozovic. Both have been hanging with 4 cards for more than a month. On the other hand we receive cards for improper breathing. I am still shocked by Alexis' red card

Unless they hit a major injury crisis out of nowhere I can't see them losing the Scudetto. I even think they will be crowned quite early. Milan and Juventus are not in brilliant form and will have EU games to distract and drain the players.
