Lukaku loan with around 12-15 mil salary. Dzeko 9.2 mil gross salary. That more than the amortization of all new Milan transfers combined! You think mgmt wanted to buy Messias instead of a proper 30-40 mil winger? And what about Gosens 30 mil, Correa 30 mil, Sensi 27 mil, Barella 40 mil? Is Milan mgmt allowed to spend those amounts?

Homegrown status is for all players who came from academies in Italy. Max we can have 4 of those designated to those spots. Currently for us it is Florenzi, Mirante, Tonali.
Club-trained players for us are Pobega, Gabbia, Calabria.
Max we can have 4 Homegrown and 4 Club trained players on our UCL list (total 25 players, so 17 foreigner slots). IF we don't have enough players to fill out our Homegrown/Club trained spots, we LOSE those spots for the season. UEFA don't allow us to put in extra foreigners to cover for those spots.
That's why we absolutely need 4 of each type in order to not reduce our squad to compete in the UCL.

Currently, if memory serves me right, our UCL squad for this season is 22 or 23 players because we didn't have enough Homegrown/Club trained players.

Agreed. Though today we saw confidence in half the squad. Inter did well to nullify theo and an unfit leao. And though Calabria played satisfactory, the right side and center were unable to take it to the next level. But I don't think there's any surprise there.

I think it's undeniable that pioli has reached his limit and it's certainly time to move on. It was a fun run winning scudetto and reaching the semi finals of cl. Certainly an improvement over the banter years and now we must find a manager who can build of our successes and have solutions for our failures

The worst thing about this defeat is that it happened in CL.

We were always the better Milan club in CL. We dunked on them in CL derbies. In 2005 we had that for us. It was a beautiful.

Like you know whenever Inter got the better of us in the league, we could always look at our CL derbies and CL titles and just shut them up.

Of course we have more CLs but I don’t really like living in the past. That’s the part that hurts the most for me.

I also really don’t want to play EL next season. Frankly losing to Inter has kinda ruined this whole CL campaign for me.

If we lost to a team like Madrid or even City in the SF for example, I can say, it’s expected. We should be proud of yourself. Won’t take this SF away from us.

But losing to Inter? A side that lets be honest, isn’t supposed to be this much superior than us. Our big rivals. It sucks no matter what.

This is inaccurate. Inter clearly have the better attack. It’s not even close. Martinez, Lukaku and Dzeko would all start for us.

They also have a better midfield. It’s delusional to think otherwise.

We have a better GK but their GK is not a scrub either.

You can argue our defense is better but again not by much. And some might even argue we’re not better in defense.

Inter is the better team on paper and on the pitch. They beat us 4 times this year. We couldn’t even get 1 goal in those 4 games. It’s not debatable.

Better team won. We need to focus on ourselves and move forward. Many lessons learned from these two games. Now it’s on the management to fix things.

We did well to reach the SF of the CL. But not qualifying for the CL next year will make this season a failure. The faster the coach can get this team to focus on the remaining 3 games the better.

Pioli was more like a coach that can make a solid team out of mediocre players, more like a caretaker.
But if hes sitting for too long on the same team, you clearly see his shortcomings
He’s certainly not a coach for the big stage.
He did well last season, still dont know how he did it though.

Actually Calhanoglu is exactly the midfielder we need. He drops in to receive the ball, he can pick out his passes, long, short, he defends, he shoots from distance. I have no idea how the management thought it would be ok to replace all of that with whatever Brahim Diaz is offering, a guy who always thinks he can dribble between 2,3,4 players and still cannot kick the ball. I thought maybe they are grooming Adli to replace Calhanoglu but what a disappointment his whole progress has been. In reality we've been playing every game with 10 players.

Maignan (6 – MOTM): You could make the argument that he should’ve done more on the goal, but ultimately he was let down by his teammates at the back. Plus, he made several fantastic (really fantastic) saves tonight. So it’s a pass for him.

Calabria (4): From what we have seen in these two games, he’s not captain material. You need someone like Tonali, who gets stuck in ALL THE TIME, to lead the charge and not someone who’s constantly out of position and is weak physically.

Thiaw (6): Along with Maignan, probably the best Milan player tonight, although that doesn’t say much. He did well against both Lautaro and Dzeko, winning some duels and at least keeping them at bay when losing them. The goal came after he was subbed off.

Tomori (4.5): He improved in the second half but his positioning was truly awful in the first half and left a hole in the heart of the defence (just like in the first leg). He’s not the Tomori we fell in love with, sadly.

Hernandez (5): Not great defensively, let’s be honest, and even though he was allowed to have a higher position from the start he added very little to the attack.

Krunic (5): Just a tad better than in the first leg, covering more space defensively and remaining calm on the ball. But he was too reckless (again) and could have been sent off.

Tonali (5.5): He was very bright in the first half and created that fantastic chance for Diaz, but almost completely faded in the second half. Not to say that he was bad, but he wasn’t involved enough sadly.

Messias (3.5): Awful, just awful from him tonight with sloppy passing. Given that Leao was heavily marked, Milan had to play on the right a lot but the Brazilian – even when he created space for himself – was really poor with the final touch.

Diaz (3): Questions should be asked regarding his future at the club. As soon as he got the ball, he stuck his head down and tried to dribble centrally and it always failed. Never passed when he was supposed to, and missed a fantastic chance in the first half with such an embarrassing finish.

Leao (4.5): He wasn’t involved enough tonight, which Milan needed him to be. He had one moment, which came after a clearance really, and nearly scored but looked lazy otherwise and wasn’t synced (potentially slightly injured still).

Giroud (4): Didn’t win enough duels, just like the first leg, and when he did the flicks were always to an Inter man. He was no threat to the Inter defence.

Kalulu (3): Such an embarrassing error from him on the goal, especially since he was marking Lautaro two seconds earlier and then just left him completely free.

Origi (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him to give a rating.
