Roger Federer is the GOAT
For all the insane talent that France has, in every position, they started Giroud, like how sad is that?

Silence. Wrong way to look at it.

What this means is that Oliver Giroud is an absolutely GOAT level striker and we should be grateful to have him. This means we need to improve our supporting cast!

We are in one of the worst periods of striker talent... possibly in history, honestly.

The best strikers are (in no order): Benz, Haaland, Lewa, Osimhen, Kane, and then.... who?

Like think about who you could put in that list after those first five if you wanted to make a "Top 10 Strikers in the World" right now list. Who would you put next? Lautaro? Lukaku? Immobile? Gab Jesus? Vlahovic? Toney? Isak? David? Unless you want to count Mbappe as a striker, I dunno man, I just think striker talent is really shitty these days.

For all the insane talent that France has, in every position, they started Giroud, like how sad is that?
He was the perfect CF for the system France has utilized going back to what Euro 2016? You’d think Benzema would be an upgrade, but for whatever reason Olivier and Antoine go together like [insert French food that goes together]. Their combo play is something else.

I’d make some sort of personal sacrifice for Griezmann. Nothing crazy but something.

I love Giroud, relax.

The larger point was that striker talent is rare and there are so few strikers, that even a team as elite as France was still relying on Benz and Giroud.

Giroud is not a GOAT level striker though, come on bro. You're saying he's a top 10 striker of all time?

That's a fair point.

Giroud is still from the previous era of strikers, next generation of strikers really haven't emerged.

Striker talent is getting worse and worse.

After Origi I am scared of ex Liverpool players. Imagine Firmino flopping just as hard as Origi and we being stuck with both of them?

Anyways I know he would be better than Origi for sure but we should be looking for a fast physical striker upfront

Now if we get rid of Origi first and get Firmino then maybe
Firmino I can guarantee you will flop harder than a one legged person would in a professional game.

In general, it’s always better to avoid players from highly system based teams like Liverpool and Atalanta.

Whats your home city in III?
I am not much of a game enthusiast. Had only played a handful of games like FIFA 05 (a big factor in making me a Milan fan), FIFA07, FIFA 11-13 and EA Cricket 2000. As an Indian, had lot of restrictions from parents on time spent in front of computer back in my school days. I was more into Microsoft Card games like Hearts as I wasn't allowed to spend too much time into games. It was my college room mates who introduced me to AoE II - The Conqueror's Expansion, back in 2011. We had a group of around 7 people who were hooked into this game while our other friends who were into gaming used to play games like DoTA, Counter Strike etc. I have continued to play Conqueror's Expansion even now, as a kind of stress buster for 2 hours.
If I play vs Computer and want to finish the game quickly, I prefer to play with Britons as Longbowmen units suit my strategy well. But when I used to play against real players, I opted for Byzantines. Computer players usually doesn't build an army with unique units - hence Longbowman strategy works. But real players, if they attack me with some 30 men strong army of Huskarls or Berzerkers, I would be fucked with Longbowmen.
I have not played AoE III or higher versions and hence not familiar with home city concept.

My post was meant to be a joke Sam. I got what you meant and it was a fair discussion.

As far what I think his ranking is. I think he’s top 1 striker of all time.

Is Okafor good enough to be our number 9 for next season? I know he’s a upgrade over what we have now, but is he a big enough upgrade?

We were spoiled in our youth, there were great strikers everywhere. The price for players like Darwin Nunez reflects the scarcity for sure.

There were rumors today that Chelsea has offered 80M for Vlahovic. Osimhen would probably fetch 80M at least, it’s a position where you get extremely lucky and sign the next big thing or you have to spend BIG on.

Unfortunately, our biggest needs are CF and RW, neither of which boast a deep pool of talent.

There’s a huge pair of contradictions that’s been happening this season.

Pioli is enforcing a playstyle that depends on individuals unlocking moments in a game, versus a systematic approach that involves the whole team. This goes against the idea that we’re building a team that’s greater than the sum of its parts.

He has also been highly depending on a few ‘guarantees’ and sticking with the same players he trusts instead of taking risks to develop young players. This goes against the idea that we’re looking to develop our own superstars by buying undervalued youngsters.

I think this change happened because Pioli suddenly got obsessed with winning now at all costs. It’s too early for that, and it would be much better for us to go back to being a system team that takes more risks with young players and accepts their inevitable growing pains.

There was a report saying that the deduction will 'as much as needed' so ladri don't end up in top 4. The idea is to make them suffer, not just take a random number of points from them.

Of course it could always be speaking out of the ass by some journalist wannabe
Now multiple reports confirm this. As it seems we will need 4 points from the last 2 games to confirm our top 4 spot. Maybe 3 if Roma drop any points in the next 3 games.

I think you are putting more thinking into his tactics than Pioli himself.

Salah would be good anywhere bro. You think he would only excel in pool? Nhaa. Unless you mean I. General then I agree. Overall with pool players. They would be a bad fit here.

For what exactly??? Valencia fans were chanting that he is monkey before he even stepped out of the bus. The fact that fans are allowed to racially abuse black players every single week across Europe is crazy. And these football associations not really caring about it
___

Funny how It’s always the people who never experienced racism that has the most to say

I stand with Vinicius

He needs to leave Madrid and that rotten league as soon as possible

What’s happening to him is a disgrace. I really feel for him

This is absolutely true in the case of Adli, but we also have to consider the possibility that the young players added to the squad last summer aren’t good enough?

Dest and CDK were just awful this season. Pioli gave both of them plenty of chances, way too much in CDK’s godforsaken case. Dest got like exiled from the team, I don’t know if he just sucks and or he had an attitude issue but he’s out of favor.

Pobega has been probably about as expected? I never thought of him as a 3rd or 4th option at DM/CAM/CM, he needs to be lower on the pecking order than that, but our midfield quality was not great this season.

Vranckx is 19. I like what I’ve seen in general, his last appearance showcasing some very solid long range passing. But again he’s 19 and probably nowhere near disciplined enough to play DM consistently. Next to Adli, this is the one I think Pioli has gotten most wrong, he could have been used more earlier in the season and might have proven to be a valuable rotation player.

Thiaw could have been utilized earlier, but it takes time to settle into a new club and league, especially at 21. Ultimately, he looks like a potential future starter for us and arguably should already be given his form + Kalulu/Kjaer fading.

My honest opinion is that the squad is flawed in 2 ways: 1) The starting XI isn’t good enough AND 2) Our depth is pretty weak. Pioli has talked about needing 23 players that can play at virtually the same level. We didn’t have that this year, not even close. Our starting XI had glaring weaknesses at DM (Kessie), RW, CAM (Pioli’s fault), and CF as good as Giroud has been for us.

Pioli’s system also requires quality depth. I don’t think anyone took better advantage of the 5 sub rule than Pioli prior to this season. Think back to previous seasons when he could bring a deadly Rebic off the bench along with Ibra and one or two of Kessie/Bennacer/Tonali/Krunic. Florenzi was a very effective sub last season as well.

Injuries effectively cost us Ibra, Florenzi, and Rebic this season. Those 3 have been important to Piolisimo, especially Ibra and Rebic. Free agency cost us Kessie and Romagnoli.

The players we brought in have not cut it.

The season depended on MMM pulling another rabbit out of their hat, but they mostly misfired and provided players that seemingly didn’t cut it.

Of course, I’ll always blame Pioli for Adli… so dumb

Theoretical question - if Vinicius decides to leave Spain and he is open to a move to Italy ( highly unlikely given the amount of racism in Serie A) and Real are willing to swap him with Leao ( again highly unlikely as I think in such a scenario they will go for Mbappe)... highly unlikely scenario just like Inter winning CL.. but IF it actually happened, will you be open to swap Leao and Vinicius??

Personally I will be okay with the swap as Vinicius, to me, is the third best attacker in the world while Leao is a top 10 -12 ish player.
Only worry in that scenario for me is that Leao is now better than what Vinicius was before Ancellotti took over. May be a better coach can make Leao better than Vinicius.
However in the present versions of both players, I would gladly swap the players.

Would like to know what RnB thinks.
