Fair point. I misread your initial post as more like "Milan wasn't able to offer them what they asked" like it was an unilateral decision from the players to leave while leaving MM empty handed. IMO at a certain point it looked more like MM left the table saying "we made you perfectly fair offers, take it or leave it". Especially in Donnarummas case. I think when we look at stats for attackers from mid table teams we need to add the context. They will not afforded the space when they come to play for Milan. Can they still produce the same number when they get no space at all? Messias had decent numbers before coming to Milan but didn’t make the jump due to quality. There is also the weight for playing for a big team but that’s just the same risk on all players from the market.
