Don't think we threw Coppa away. The Torino game, though we started some part-timers, but by extra time when we lost, most of the first teamers were on the field. We lost to better tactics that day.
I don't think we ever threw Coppa away in the last few years. We were beaten fair and square. As fans, it is understandable to say later that the cups we lost didn't matter but the club has given due importance to all trophies. Even for Supercoppa, we fielded our strongest available line up.

True but I’m talking about US. Pioli has always played with a big CF and when all else fails, we resort to long balls to Giroud/Ibra that they can bring down and lay off to Leao or Diaz. For Pioli’s system, a small CF won’t work. I’m not talking in general terms. Just talking about OUR current style of play.

Rebic did quite fell as stiker when he was in form. He's taller than Openda but didn't really use his height / heading much. Milan played better as a team with in form Rebic as striker than they have with Giroud. Rebic is rarely in form though and now seems to have become really bad. This long ball to Giroud doesn't work too well for the team as a whole and they hardly score much using that. I'm not sure they should continue like this.

Brahim is a very skilled player, for 5-a-side games. Watching him at Milan is like watching a player transition from pick-up games to full 11v11. It's frustrating and annoying.

I guess he has good close control but he lacks the physical tools to capitalize on it most of the time, poor shooting, and incredibly concerning vision for his role

All that + him being a non factor in the defensive phase

I don't think Super Coppa and Coppa Italia are as prestigious as the Scudetto.

But I don't agree that we didn't win those trophies because we threw them away. We tried and we failed. Especially in later half of Banter era and post Elliott Era, we fielded strong sides and got beaten.
Peak Berlusconi era teams were always in the running for Scudetto and CL and may have thrown the Coppa games away. But in recent history, we have not de-prioritized any trophy.

I’m just making a jab at Milan fans who keep undermining those trophies.

As far as our team and Pioli is concerned, we took both the SuperCup and Coppa Italia very seriously. Calabria/Giroud were in tears after the SuperCup defeat and I’ve never seen Theo look more depressed after a defeat.

Unfortunately we were just not good enough and failed on those days.

I do remember getting some heat here prior to the match of the SuperCup when I said why isn’t Pioli rotating more when he faced Lecce because I said we had a trophy SuperCup derby on the line a few days later. Apparently because SuperCup is irrelevant and we were competing for the league title. I was perplexed, of course the league is more important but honestly our backups should be good enough to beat Lecce and whether it’s SuperCup or not, a trophy is a trophy and it was a derby match!!! A match vs Inter is always important unless it’s some pre season friendly in America or whatever shit…

In the end Pioli didn’t rotate in both matches though and our players were visibly exhausted in the SuperCup.

Believe it or not, that derby set the tone for subsequent derbies, we were having the edge vs them in the derbies prior to that match, the tone was changing but that stupid match in the SuperCup changed everything. Gave Inter the blue print and tactics to beat us handily and our players mentality vs them suffered too.

In hindsight that match was more important than we thought…

Look at them missing big shots against Inter that a star during Berlusconi era would have buried.

Our players need more experience. And they should want to win everything and have that mentality IF we are really looking to build a group that will "dominate in CL in 3-5 years" instead of just trying to become the middle man ourselves and sustain. I think winning any of these said trophies is great experience if we do still have some ambitions of getting back to the top.

Personally for me, I celebrated it as if we won the Scudetto. I was so starved for trophies back then. It was also the first trophy that Milan won where I was more self-aware, as an adult. Milan winning trophies when I was a kid was lovely but as an adult you truly understand it more.
