I keep seeing these hopeful posts on CDK.

To me, he has shown absolutely nothing to make me believe there is a player in there.

No dribbling
No driving runs
No ball carrying
No real tackling/interceptions
No quality shots
No real aerial prowess or physicality. (For someone his size)
Mild glimpses of vision early on.

He looks lost a lot of the time. Everyone brings up Leao and Tonali, but I feel with them we saw glimpses of talent.

Hoping he proves me wrong, but I don’t see it.

I too thought for now, the only way for Gerry to make money is to sell the club at a profit. As it was for Silvio who couldn't just take money from Milan until he eventually sold the club.

A club is a business, just like any other business. Any business can pay the owner a dividend whether it's listed on the stock market or not. A stock market listing just lets you sell a part of the club and still maintain ownership and control.

At the same time selling the club is the only realistic way for the owners to make a large profit on their investment. Milan, until now was making losses and this is the first year in a long time that the club will actually make a profit. Now if Redshit insist the club run at a profit and even start paying themselves dividends from the club, that would completely fuck the club and their 1.1 / 1.2 billion investment in it.

Now Redbird aren't that dumb. They are risk averse but obviously not ******s. They aren't willing to pay for big losses but it seems they want around the break even level for the accounts. They have a few long terms paths to make money. One of them is to try and make smart money ball transfers and and try to get Milan to be closer to the top European clubs like on the Athletico Madrid / Dortmund level. The 2nd path to increasing the value is the stadium project. Another path is that values of all European clubs go up as they are generally undervalued compared to American sports teams and international interest in European football just keeps increasing. So Redshit can just keep MIlan at the current level of competitiveness and in a few years they have a club that's worth much more.

I love how our members sympathize with players that have failed, like CDK, and after a decent performance of 28 minutes we declare that the crisis is over and the player is back to being good to the point of voting him in the top 3 and a couple even at number one. I was very encouraged by his performance and hope that with a great off season he'll earn a starting spot as he's
too expensive to fail. Another player that is universally loved is Adli who has played about 125 minutes all season. He is likeable and we love the underdog so want him to succeed but in truth never got a chance to show his talents. Not while ahead
5-1 to Sampdoria and not in the last game while for some inexplicable reason Mirante saw the field.

To some extent it does. That said, last summer mercato was a disaster, regardless of the funds. Why Origi? The CDK saga ended up in a big disappointment (though there is still hope). Not to mention players rejected by Pioli (whatever the reason). Perhaps the late renewal had a big impact, by the time MMM got going the situation was complicated. Perhaps. MMM did much better in previous years.

I doubt we will get the mercato funds we would like to see, maybe in the future but probably not this year. So we really need MMM to pull some more miracles for us.

My issue with Pioli is how he is using our new players, and his tactical choices.

Pioli has a wicked fastball, and has shown that he has a slider and a curve, but he doesn't use it--or worse, doesn't use them when he should.

The team is monstrous when our opponents open up and play us toe-to-toe, but most of our games are going to be against teams that fear us. I saw that evolution last year and then he stopped it this year, and that is what bothers me.

His out of possession tactics are very good, even if he had some hiccups--but I think those were tied to his tactical choices and shape as he double downed on an approach that didn't even get the best out of his tactics: a 424 vs a true 4231.

Of course this is a low scoring game, so our season could be so drastically different had shots went in, deflections go our way, etc. But my frustration is rooted in what he decided to do and when.

I have a feeling next season will be a huge turnaround year for us. You give CDK, Adli, Thiaw, potentially Vranckx a summer with the team and a second season in Italy- good things will probably happen. We are committed to the youth project and youth doesn’t necessarily explode immediately. Leao was struggling in Serie A years ago and for a brief moment yesterday he looked like fucking R9 come again.

Fully agree Pioli did not manage his personnel at the level he has proven capable of while also acknowledging that he did not have a good enough squad this season.

I think the pressure to win resulted in him going back to the same ol’ well with guys like Diaz, who had won for him in the past.

Let’s not overlook the fact that the team closed out very strong this season as well. The calcio wasn’t beautiful, but it got us top 4 again.

Onwards and upwards, hopefully with some more seasoned youths AND some rockstar additions this summer.

I truly believe the most telling stats of this campaign are the 1) chances created and 2) chances missed. I saw that happening all season long. The system manufactured chances but the players were not finishing outside of a few of the usual suspects. We need to upgrade players like Diaz, Messias, Sael, Calabria.

My suspicion is that our defensive struggles were also at times linked to the failure to finish chances. We play an exhausting defensive style that really needs us to score early and often. It’s very much a Mike Tyson approach, where we try to suffocate and knock teams out early with the high press but we suffer when we don’t land.
