Wait, so Paolo forced Pioli to play Diwzy at CAM all the time?

Asking for a friend...

Fuck, what a cunt, poor Pioli having that Maldini monster forcing him to play Diaz like that... I'm glad Pioli was able to throw off his shackles ahead of the new season.
Is it still a question that Diaz is Maldini's choice ?
Pioli tried every single option he has.
The AM is the most tested position since Diaz was brought in.
Pioli tried DM there ffs.
All the Diaz might stay died out as soon as Maldini was out.
If Pioli got more say & wanted him then why didnt he ask for him ?

You guys know that Diaz was going back to Madrid before Maldini left right? We were never gonna pay 30m for him.

And since Asensio left, Madrid definitely wanted him back. Our new management didn’t say NO to him. Madrid just need him now for attacking depth 🤡

You know he, just like Pioli, contacted Ndicka and got rejected right? Players care about money and having success so they can make more money, that's the truth. A legend of the sport calling you and telling you to join will not convince many. In fact, we sat here with this tactic and watched targets slip by going to stronger sporting projects
This is what annoys me, you know that those phone calls didn't have the same context. You know that.

Ndicka cost a transfer fee when Maldini called. Now he's a free agent. Ndicka, like Kessie, had no intention of sacrificing his salary for a transfer fee.

And those phone calls can matter. Personal relationships do make a difference. Galliani was a master at this. No one is saying Maldini was flawless, but pretending that he didn't make an impact when it was time to make that call is... I dunno, I didn't expect you to make that claim.

And if even Scaroni said that they relied on that call to get the project rolling, then it's clear that it did make an impact. Klopp, Pep, Carlo, their faith in a player makes a huge difference.

You're telling me Mourinho isn't charismatic? Etoo ran his ass off for him, players still talk about his presence. Maldini is one of those figures.

So, uh, yeah, I think there's a difference between Thuram getting a call from Pioli and Maldini. Put it this way: you think there's a difference between Pep calling a player and David Moyes?

Come on.

Nice kid , not good enough.
I just dont get how this wasnt obvious for Maldini.
I get this feeling he's going to be quite good for them. The boy has a lot of talent and in a side like Madrid that talent will show.. Serie A isn't the easiest league for his skillset but he showed enough to indicate that he should have a very good future in the game. He loves our club and I'll miss him..

@Alo88 who said maldini is bigger than the club?

Maybe a bit of a strong reaction from my side after reading peoples comments that players would only want to come to Milan if Maldini was calling. You know, as if Milan as a club didn't have any pull at all. Which obviously they didn't mean literally but sarcastically.

In 2010 maybe
Neymar and ronaldinho were wingers and still wore 10. You give that nr to the biggest player in your team who usually is an attacker
Ney and Dinho is creative players, they have wide array of skills, not a one-trick-pony (in positive way) ala Roben.

I get you. Maldini is neither the unfailable legend that guarantees success only by his shier presence, nor has Redbird done anything noteworthy that deserves our blind faith just of yet.

Papers are full of shit, as always. Nothing has changed. We are going to read a lot of shit. Some will say Maldini wanted Pirlo and couldn't get Leao's renewal done without Furlanis help. Others will say Ndicka chose Roma over Milan because Pioli has no pull. As always: take every rumor with more than just a grain of salt.

I hope both sides can tune their sassy comments a bit down.
People need to stop disrespecting Maldini. It's pretty simple.

I look at Redbird's decision as bad for business, and think that they have to overperform to compensate--which is a mess of their own making.

There are people where their entire persona is doing much worse, and they've done it for... years.

So, if you're going to ask for calm, it should be done to those who are disrespecting Maldini. Like, there has to be a line somewhere.

Can you or anyone show me Paolo saying he was paying 15/20/25 million on Diaz?

WhatsApp messages? An email?

It looks like Madrid wanted to keep him!

He's being presented like a new player, not a player that was close to joining Milan, or a player that was on the transfer list.

Honestly we don't know anything about anything regarding what Maldini did or didn't want.

If anything Maldini shown himself to be aloof and keeps his cards close to his chest...

Surely you accept we don't really know anything about most things were talking about?

I think in the last few days we've seen both sides going a bit overboard. That includes myself.

Of course, when I said I didn't like the 35M investment on CDK, I really think that was stupid, I didn't mean to disrespect Maldinis entire work here who included overhauling the team in two years on a restricted budget while still winning a Scudetto. For me that's needless to say, but sometimes, in a discussion board with such huge interaction numbers where not everyone holds tabs on what who said when, such things can get lost in translation. 😉

Yes last mercato was a disaster and having Enzo, Muani and Dybala would take Milan to a different level most likely.

But there's also the question of Milanello. It lost Maldini and Ibra. If people think that's not a huge problem they are very, very wrong.
100%…like I said before, Maldini WAS a great leader at the club and a ‘father figure’ to the younger players and it’s no coincidence that we suddenly started winning again following his return (ditto for Ibra).

However, based on the latest reports, it appears that there was a growing RIFT between him and other senior figures at the club including Cardinale, Furlani, Moncada + Pioli. Therefore, it looks like the wheels were ALREADY starting to come off hence our diabolical form post-Xmas so Cardinale sacked him because he considered him a destabilising figure in addition to his financial mismanagement.

Don’t get me wrong, Pioli and the players must take the LION’S SHARE of the blame for our poor results in the second half of the season. However, Maldini certainly didn’t help matters by ignoring Furlani, Moncada + Pioli’s advice and signing a bunch of flops without consulting them (whilst leaving gaping holes @ DM, AM, RW + CF) in addition to his brash comments directed at RedBird in the press.

There are far too many to name past & present

Neymar and Dinho aren't wingers. They are SS being played out of position because of single CF forward lines. And coaches got scared of losing the ball centrally and them not tracking back. Reason why Dinho was moved from playing behind the striker to the LW by Rijkaard. Also because of the low block parking the bus set ups used in Europe the middle of the pitch the space was on the flanks.

I would never sau clueless.
But this team was built a certain way then there was a shift in targeted played when Maldini took full power which created confusion.
Created confusion cause he kept going after mediocrity = clueless

Leao was also a SS when we signed him.
He needed few seasons to become an actual winger.

It doesn’t matter what they are, if you play in the wings you are a nr 7 (if we basing on numbers)
There is no such nr 10, when attacking midfielders are nonexistent in modern football

Some of the people here are so strange. Why would you support stupid EPL fake club tonight. You want Seria A back to glory, you want Milan back on top of the Europe? Better support any Italian side even if called Merda and Ladri as this is the only way Italy get back an attention it used to have.this bring money, sponsors, fans and ultimately Italian being able to compete at international level again. Ultimately there is no point of celebrating someones failure. Unless we are talking about artificial clubs built by blood money and coached by Bald Fraud! Basta
who cares if italy gets attention?

will it ease italian stadium bureaucracy? incompetence in closing tv deals? let me remind you the middle east didn't show serie a games for a year because they didn't sell the rights on time.

inter win serves inter and inter alone, no young people remember the italian dominance in the 90', they only know milan players that they play on fifa in UT.
you understand inter winning means more revenue for them and harder competition for us in the domestic league, yeah?

i hope for inter's downfall less than juve merda, but hope still

During fassobeli era.. Milan is not attractive thus they paid lot of money during transfer for not so great player
When elliot takeover.. Milan is not attractive yet thus when Maldini in charge it become leverage since there is some guarranty on serious project for outsider eyes
When Milan got that 18th scudetto and CL semis, milan May becomes attractive again as that Useless Scaroni said..

We can not denied Maldini contribution in that resurrection..

Lets hope cardinale Does not undone it

After all all side will be happy if
- we got great mercato this summer
- mercato is used optimally by Pioli to get 19th title
- we passed ucl Group convincingly

I understand the sentiment generally. But I can’t bring myself to cheer for Inter in any situation.

Were it Napoli, Fiorentina or Roma today, sure, but not Inter. I hate them with an unrivalled passion.

99% agree. Can't agree on Juve and Inter. Inter and their fans are worse, if there would be a final Inter Juve i'd support Juve from the bottom of my heart
