“Only in Italy do they still think players are too young and that experience is what wins you games. It is a cultural choice, one that means you will inevitably lose out in terms of energy. Italian football struggles to keep up with the tempo of the other styles.”

“Of course, the national teams reflect the work of the clubs, so how can you bring down the average age of the squad if the young players don’t get to play?” noted Maresca.

Reijnders didn’t ask/want to leave. Hes not the kind of player that would do that after renewing two minutes earlier. They forced him out but he can’t be public about it

“I know Kevin like the back of my hands, he will adapt quickly to Conte’s requests and bring so much to Napoli. He is a great champion. I certainly am not saying you shouldn’t use players over 30 who are of that level, I simply try to put the energy of young lads around them,” concluded Maresca.

I was just about to type that after seeing your previous post. :proud:

If you cant manage tempo then experience counts for little because it hardly has a chance to present itself. I fully agree with his comments.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca insists Italian football is being left behind and the Champions League Final proved it for Inter. ‘Only in Italy do they still think players are too young and that experience is what wins you games.’

Nailed it, unfortunately.
A bit populist if he refers to the entirety of Italian football. Serie A is a lot healthier as a league than Ligue 1 and definitely not left behind as a whole. Bundesliga also has reached its ceiling for a long time now.

Serie A has the potential to be better, but it being left behind is overrating the competition.

You could tell by his facial expression when he gave that interview how unhappy he is to finally, at the age of 27, play in one of the best teams in the world in the best league of the world for one of the beast coaches in history.

And all of that only for the triple of his current salary! We are monsters and Tijani will be sad for the rest of his life!!

Dai Tijani, blink twice if you need to be rescued!

Tijji didn't even grow up a Milan fan. His idol is Messi. I mean, no Milan fans would even think of Messi as their idol. He has zero attachment to this beautiful club. Unlike Tonali who worshipped Rino growing up and literally shed tears when he was being told to leave. Tijji's departure doesn't even come close to the sorrow from seeing my dear boy Sandro leaves.

We saw that in the UCL final. Glorious pressing by PSG's young guns left no time for Merda players on the ball.
It's just that simple. To think that a 5-0 defeat was actually flattering them. Should have been 7-0 or 8-0.

What?
I couldn't give a fuck if Tij was a Milan fan or not. Wasn't Gattuso a Juve fan when he was growing up?
I doubt Van Basten idolized Rivera growing up.
In fact I prefer players who weren't Milan fans growing up. Can't stand Tonali's bullshit, and then he gambles and almost could have gotten Milan into trouble. Yeah fuck Milan fans, including myself.. give me non-Milan fans as players anyday, they can become fans when they play here for years.

Gimme a break man
I actually agree with him.
Maybe not forced him out but probably convinced him to leave because it would be better for Milan yada yada etc.
There's no other reason for him to have signed the extension otherwise, I don't think his salary increased that much when we extended him.

PSG shits on all of Serie A right now.
Think he was referring more compared to Germany, Spain, England though.

With these things, an agent gets a call/offer, the agent discusses it with the player and if the player has a modicum of decency he says “this is a great opportunity for me, make it happen and play nice with the clubs” and then if the selling club is also somewhat willing and see the player is as well, they play ball.

This whole, he had a gun to his head while he cried his red and black heart out is an… um… interesting way to look at things.
