In view of tomorrow's protests against Trump's military parade to begin at 6 PM, Florida Governor De Santis has declared that drivers are justified in running over demonstrators. My city is usually quiet but it's best for everyone to stay home.

This is nuts, already anticipating and promoting violence, what America is becoming is very disturbing to me, and hope somehow common sense prevails on all sides.
You will walk or drive tomorrow ?

Fair enough, but this Gianna gal is an OG from the 70s/80, and she indeed is a rock artist
By Rock I didn't mean the genre I meant more of the Rock spirit, artists who aren't manufactured but instead write their own stuff or at least contribute significantly to the music-making and have something to say or some kind of message they wanna portray/express
Gianna was very controversial for her time, not the typical Italian girl that cares about her reputation and captured the younger audience for her openness about by-sexuality and non-conformism.

Even at her worst she mogs Dua
Now here is Avril on The First Take merely 2-3 years ago
She looks like she is still in her 20s

If you put Dua and her side-by-side people would think Dua is in her 40s and Avril in her 20s

Being me back years ago 😯 what she is doing now

Yeah, that is typical behavior from old-school Rock, especially Punk sub-culture.

Yeah rock spirit definitely, but I think the 2005ish (maybe 2007) mark has a significance here. Until somewhere there the traits you mentioned were rewarded, most big names had a solid background in that regard (Madonna, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Shania Twain ....) and it also took like 5-10 years to really establish someone. This imo also coincides with the death of the album and album songs, music videos and a far more fast paced industry.Of course not everything had substance, there was a lot of silly stuff, but with high end and/or multi decade artists there was usually some substance somewhere.
Another thing that is quite striking is how many new names are bad movers in terms of their dancing ability, like Dua Lipa for example is a terrible mover and she isn´t the only one.

I'm staying home not watching either the parade nor the protests, probably watching Netflix or posting here.

In Florida you can't have a civil debate on opposing views because everybody is armed and if they disagree with you, they get pissed off and might shoot you.

My childhood and adolescence seems prehistoric when I remember how different it was compared to the crock of shit this country has become. It’s difficult to believe that there used to actually be a semblance of normalcy. All the nutjobs that used to be shunned and laughed at finally have the version of America they wanted.

Think I heard somehwere that she had a new single out recently
I'm not really a fan of her music though, apart from those nostalgic 2000s big hits that most people know

Musa is good.. he needs a coach and if conte is that coach he will be really special
Reading game threads Musah and Theo were the most heavily criticized and everybody wanted them gone because of their brainfarts, and Musah for his awful shooting and decision-making.

Didn't score in either season at Milan but maybe Conte sees something different in him. It's kind of weird that if Musah goes to Napoli he's their first transfer after KDB, maybe our guy will be used as defensive cover for the Belgian and that would make sense in a way.

I think one of the problems is the failure of the educational system in American public schools. Most teen-agers have no idea of history, our alliances, our constitution, and like shows of force and confrontations over diplomacy.

Let's annex Canada, fight Denmark for Greenland, like it's a perfectly normal way to govern, impose our will, we're number one in everything we do or produce.

Milan has a deep and meaningful connection with Albania. When Gattuso’s Range Rover was stolen, it was recovered in Tirana. Hopefully, Jashari can steal our hearts. Forza Milan, Forza Albania.

Youre aware that this insinuates that Albanians are car thiefs, yes?

Get jihadhari away from the club's BMW collaboration

Ivan Gazidis spoke about Moncada and Maldini in the Xbdvl Podcast from Cannon Sports Media:

On Moncada

"One of the first decisions we made was to hire a top-quality, talented head scout like Moncada – someone skilled at discovering young talents to help rebuild Milan. To succeed, you need to be able to properly analyze players and their characteristics – not just technical ability – and that’s something we’ve done in every transfer window."

The importance of Paolo Maldini

"Then, of course, comes the management side – and that’s where Paolo Maldini’s figure truly stood out. What struck me most was the quality of Paolo’s personal relationships with the players. For that project, Paolo wasn’t just important – he was essential. He brought presence, charisma, and credibility. The bond he had with the players at Milanello was remarkable – a role model for everyone, not just the younger ones."

I guess Gazidis hasn't heared yet of the "nice" things Maldini had to say about him... :(

Not really, no. My mom and her entire family is Dutch, my dad a wild mix between Swiss, Italian and French. So I guess that makes me a bit of a mix of all the best parts of Europe
Dutch, Italian, French, Swiss?

You are AC Milan past present and future incarnate

Your country has been sabotaged by a certain cult. Think of who you are not allowed to criticise, let alone doubt.

2007 or thereabout is when Internet became really mainstream and the music industry suffered big time
Monoculture was on life-support from then-on and eventually died
When TV(and to a lesser extent Radio) was the dominant form of entertainment the music industry could easily blast whoever they wanted to your ears and you really couldn't escape it back then
There are still songs from back in the day I remember, like for example Can't Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes which I still to this day don't remember where I first heard it from, the exposure was just huge even here in Kosovo
With the Internet you can just choose not to click the featured videos on youtube and you won't have to listen to anything you don't want to
The mainstream music industry has never been the same since then

Now in 2025 it seems to have gotten crazy with the whole AI stuff and Spotify, it's a completely different landscape
Sometimes I watch this producer guy on youtube Rick Beato sharing his views on the current industry and he also interviews some legends like The Police, David Gilmour, Hans Zimmer, Pat Metheny, Yngwie Malmsteen etc. the list goes on
Very good channel
The general gist I gathered from his videos is that the industry doesn't seem to want to invest on creating artists

It's funny to me cause at a time there was phonebooks all over with everyone's name and address.
I mean places like Sweden still let u find out literally everything about a person if u know their name

Like down to their home's layout it's insane

I agree and genre music isn´t doing that much better in many regards. I mean I am a rock/pop/hard rock/some electronic stuff guy, and if you look at genres like hard rock, alternative rock even alternative music in general ... and especially bands there are very few good artists under 40, often 50. So I absolutely believe that they don´t want to support artists, elevator music is kinda what seems to have the best bang for buck.

I don´t know how long they can ride that though, I mean even the 40+ ones of the established names will be largely inactive in 2 decades or so and I do hope that there will be some need for a cultural factor in popular music in the future as well.

I think it's an in between generations thing to be really private

Growing up in the dial up era, kids were told to never tell people sht

Nowadays there's comp sci, computer literate kids that have their full names as gamer tags, keep all their social media public etc teens / young adults dox themselves a few times per week nowadays
I didn't think it was a terrible idea and thought about it but it's better to be safe than sorry. I basically mainly post here and Facebook where I and all my friends use our real names and that's how old schoolmates, childhood friends, neighbors, and even cousins living in Argentina found me.

Growing up in a small-town people don't forget you no matter how long you're gone, and I visit Italy every 4 years or so. Once I was walking around town and heard a car beep, with someone yelling, "hey americano!), I turned around and asked how he knew it was me and he said that he recognized my walk. Probably had heard I was in town and guessed right.

In America as you get old you're pretty much invisible, probably even in big Italian cities, but in small Southern towns they respect you and want to be around you. Not that one deserves respect because of age, it should be by the kind of person you are and how they remember you.

Hey Americano I was just kidding with that post where you facepalmed me

You are my father's age so automatic respect. You're welcome to visit me in Jordan although that might have to wait until things settle down, our neighbors are going through a neverending menstruation cycle and they want to ravage anything around them.

In the end too few clubs went bankrupt, we will play Serie D :fp:
Did we already lobby for 832 clubs at next edition of Club world cup so our futuro can also play?

I think we should.

Most of the good stuff you can find today you have to dig for underground

Some other things Rick pointed out:
-With all the distractions of nowadays like social media/internet, video games etc. there are less people who will dedicate their time to learning an instrument or to improve their singing, especially the singing which they will just use pitch correction to fix(even though it sounds awful but people don't seem to notice because entire generations have grown up listening to pitch-corrected voices)
This is a fair point since back in the day when you didn't have all these options artists were a lot more passionate about the music they were making, it was their whole life
You also see a similar thing in sports like football, for previous generations football was an art and was their life, it wasn't a dayjob to easily make mllions from and to grow your social media presence/brand

About the pitch correction thing there is a Youtube channel called Wings of Pegasus which is pretty much almost wholly dedicated to analyze songs/performances. His viewers request a particular performance and he analyzes with his tools and his musical expertise if they've been pitch corrected or not.
You won't believe how degenerate the modern industry is. They've even been pitch correcting older artists to sound worse to ''level the playing field'', truly psychotic stuff.
