You realize Maldini was part of the management team hired by Elliott and Gordon?

This doesn’t have the impact that you think it does

Think about where we were, financially and commercially, before and after Elliott took over. This has nothing to do with Maldini and everything to do with Gazidis, Kasper Stylsvig, and Gordon

Preach brother.

Last seasons our starting FBs were - Theo and Walker.

Today our starting FBs are Terraciano and Royal. :proud:

Insane downgrade in quality.
Yes, Max plays different kind of football but I'd like to see at least 1 signing close to Theo / Walker quality.

No hope in seeing 2. :proud:
Come September 1st when our fullbacks will be better than Theo and walker, will you bookmark this post and eat crow?

So in the end they paid more than the 40M release clause to Bologna, paid an additional commission to the agent as well as made a better offer monetarily to Zerkzee.
They offered a better package overall that cost them more money than JUST the buyout clause that got accepted, despite Milan being first to the negotiation table.

Thanks for proving my point yet again mate. :leao7:

Huh? What are you talking about? I orriginally replied to your post which said "
Zirkzee we paid the release clause, but United offered MORE than the release clause and Bologna sold to the highest bidder.
It wasn't a matter of us paying the release clause first."

Bologna did not sell to the highest bidder. Milan would have got him with just the release clause paid. But Milan hadn't agreed terms with the player and the agent.

Your post clearly implied that Bologna could choose to reject a release clause activating bid, which is a completely untrue and is against the whole system of a release clause. But now you're acting as if you never said that.......It's pretty clear what was said.

ManU wanting to spread the payment over 3 years and Bologna agreeing to that for getting 2.5 mil extra is totally different from the idea that Bologna could sell "to the highest bidder".

That is not how it works. If 10 clubs offer to pay the release clause ( in one payment ) then it's entirely up to the player which club he wants to go to and his current club has no say, nor do they have the power to demand more money.

ManU could have also paid 40 mil if they were willing to do it in 1 payment and not spread it out and there would be nothing Bologna could have done to stop it.

Incorrect. If you pay it all up front then the team cannot refuse, however if you pay in installments then most likely you will be paying different terms or higher amount

A team just has to meet the terms of the release clause. If the terms don't have anything about installments then it's presumed that everything has to be paid all at once.

Then if a team is not meeting all the terms of the release clause ( like not paying all at once ), they have to find an agreement with player's current team and that could be for any amount.

Press conference is over, Allegri did not say anything out of the ordinary really, things that stood out were that the Allegri of today is very different from the Allegri of 2010, he has learnt alot over the last 15 years.

He has specified that defence is what wins championships (in last 16 years, only 1 team won Serie A not having the best defence). He doesn't care about the criticism from others that his teams play ugly football, all he cares about is winning. This is a terrifying statement for me, he's confirming that terror ball is coming.

He said that Theo is leaving and it was his choice. Maignan had to be convinced to stay (but still has not renewed nor are there renewal talks) by management.

Tare did not add anything significant about the market, but I think he said that we made a good offer to Brugge for Jashari and they are still considering our offer.

I dont give a shit about "terror" ball. If managed well and we actually WIN, that's all that matters

@pippofan yesterday wrote that Allegri want smaller team so probably third of the players will leave . Additionally some will be replaced so probably close to that .
Allegri in his press conference today repeated that he wants 20 outfield players, guess if he needs more due to injuries he'll add some Primavera youngsters.

Theo as defender was average at his best . Running forward however was a different matter since he was strong , fast and was guarding the ball very good . His main strength was not defending but to be winger in disguise in defense .

Name an older CB you'd take that is realistic.
I want that too but then I looked and there really aren't any that stood out. It's crazy.
