too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
Similar parameters

Yamal can do more things. He can create as well as he can score. Started on the wing - Messi
Mbappe is the most dependable scorer in the world. He's a wing-forward but not really a winger. He plays best just off a true #9. There are smilarities with CR7 but it's not as good as an analogy with Messi as Yamal is

Also I'm not quite sure that Mbappe has CR7's full determination or work ethic. We'll find out as he ages.
Neither are particularly good at free kick. Neither is great in the air.
I'd say if CR7 and Messi are considered 100/100 footballers,
Yamal's (currently about 86) ceiling might be 100
But peak Mbappe is 95. He's currently at 90/100, i.e. I don't think he has much further to go
He still towers over everyone not named Haaland 88/100
I was never invested in “the goat” debates.
My stance is throughout the history of the game there have been a lot of greats who brought something special to the game.

Each player had their own unique signature or approach and the “goat” discussion is a pointless argumentative path to pursue because it is based almost entirely on preference or personal opinion.

Yamal could fall as quickly as he has risen. Another player may surface who surpasses both Yamal and Mbappe. Who knows. It’s a conversation that will always go in circles and can never truly be settled indefinitely.

Just my opinion.

The football is there for sure
But is the mentality there too
Lots of players started off on fire (Pato, Cassano) but by the time they were 25 they were "what if" players
This is applicable even to players who went on to win stuff later on like R9 and Quaresma
The 2002 version of R9 was a pale shadow to what he was in 1998

If Yamal holds to this level till he's 30. I'm talking about who he is now - then he'd have a SUPER successful career.
If he keeps growing linearly, then he may even surpass Messi (highly unlikely. you need a special body and brain for that).
The odds are, that he'll go after the money and the women and lose himself somewhere in the middle as most of us would if we got that amount of money and fame before we even turned 20

Another thing is the influence of parents.
If he has relatively strict/conservative parents, he has a higher probability of reaching his potential.
But even then it's iffy.
Leao looks like he listens to his dad a lot but he often gets distracted and entangled in nonsense that isn't helping his career.
Mbappe looks like he has much stricter parents. And hence he's the Dictator :o
Leao 've never been impressed by him because of his shooting-passing skills and end product, while Yamal thrived at those excercise even when he was 17Yo as we all witnessed in the euro 2024, in addition to his vision of the game and decision making.

My thoughts exactly. 16mil feels hella low. We can't replace him for 16mil. Better he stays then.

I wish hey. Hope so

Kostic and maybe cisse. I think cisse looks talented but I have seen this movie before.
I think Cisse` has a solid chance to make the A team, not sure about Kostic but would rather loan him out to a Serie B team than languish in amateur Serie D
.
Each pre-season I look forward to the early frendlies to evalute our young players, did it with Liberali, Comotto, Camarda, and this time Kostic and Cisse` as I believe that Comotto has already proven his worth and is likely to remain on the big squad.

Camarda still has a lot to prove to me, so far hasn't progressed as much as I expected and hoped for.

He has 73 goals this season already

If he wins the World Cup on top of that, it’s a no brainer

Its a no brainer if you think most goals means you"re worthy of balon dor.

They have the golden boot for that no.

Balon dor should go to the best player in either the world cup or ucl

Bellingham has a bigger shout for balon dor if England are to win imo

Hasn't been that quick in at least a couple of years, is undersized and horrible on the ball

His recovery speed is average at best nowadays and that was like the one thing that made him worthy of a starting spot initially

Last two world cups are among the best international football that i watched.
Last final, France-Argentina, is the best final i saw.
Hopefully a great game tonight & a better final.

Indeed. That was the greatest final ever.

Tonights games gonna be a belter...both are shaky at the back and elite up top.

There'll be more drama packed into these 2 hours than the a whole season of sopranos

An EPL team would pay more.
But no EPL teams are offering right now.
We take what we can get.

Y'all shit on him constantly over the past 3 seasons, and then turn around and expect other teams to pay a kings ransom for him?

For whatever reason, and I can't fault him for it, fik has always been incredibly loyal. I don't think he's leaving unless he gets a huge pay day or a big big EPL club comes in for him. Hopefully this Saudi bid has a great contract offer attached. Not sure if they're still offering the huge wages.
I find it difficult to believe that Tomori would accept being Gila's back-up, has probably already been told, so can't be too picky on his future destination.

Can't play together because they're both kind of short for the position so he must go. I'm sure he would prefer playing in the EPL but if no offers arrive has to settle for less.

Which season?

I was going to say the last season which...but honestly this fixture is littered with drama

I remember the last time we met in knockouts in 98... first half was crazy with 4 goals. 2 pks and owens solo then that sexy free kick from veron to zanetti. Beckham red card... sol Campbell thinking he'd scored...ran off celebrating. Argentines just carried on playing lmao.

Then the penalties 😍

If it goes to penalties i can rest easy. Since italia 90 arg have done well except in 06 and those bloody Germans

The country is nervous as hell right now. After Frances exit, there's a real chance they can win it.

I bought a brand new argentina shirt...cant fuckij find it 😢

As someone who generally really dislikes English football, there's only three players that I've really enjoyed over the years.

Wayne Rooney (what a player!)
Phil Foden (so talented and fun to watch)
Jude Bellingham (saw him live twice in CL. I will never forget the way he can dominate a game from the central midfield)
2/3 ain't bad

Had high hopes for foden...but he hasnt transfered his city form to england.

Many times but under Elliott. At that point he had a real source. Right now he is just speculating based on some he got from his friends related to Milan (Curva Sud + some people working in the club at unimportant positions, but they still hear some things here and there).

Gazzetta writes that Pirlo is in pole position to take over the Italy national team. They also write that he meets all the requirements set by Maldini and Leonardo. What requirements? The man has underachieved in every single coaching job in his career

Once again id like to thank Gerry for having the cojones to give him the boot.

Speaking of the Sopranos......the last few days I'm re-watching Boardwalk Empire and I'm finding it even better than at first viewing. As added bonus the nudity is abounding, T & A all over the place.

Finished the whole 12 episodes of season one and I'm up to the sxth of season 2. Fantastic casting and great acting by Steve Bushemi, Michael Shannon, and Michael Pitt.

Saw a video from training… Chuk is straight up a RWB

I'm still nursing the hope he was played there for the same reason Gila lined up centrally in the back three rather than as an actual RCB, because Amorim had to field two teams and right now there's literally only one natural RB at Milanello, Athekame.

Then again, I remember people copium-ing the exact same way last year when I predicted Allegri had zero intention of playing Leao as a SS and would use him as a proper CF instead. So I might be walking straight into the same trap here lol.

What still gives me a bit of hope though is that the reports about Amorim wanting a left-footed AM haven't slowed down at all, which would suggest he sees Chuk more as a backup RAM, with the right-footed Pulisic, Nkunku and Cisse all fighting it out for the left side.

The GOAT debate is interesting. It's not worth much but I think it's fun to compare the best of the best.
For me, R9 is the GOAT, but I factor in a lot of things most won't really care about. Many ppl won't even have him top 10.

I really can't complain if someone says Messi. The guy has won it all and can do it all except dominate in the air for obvious reasons.
The most fair, standard answer is that Messi is the GOAT. If you peer beneath the surface, it seems that Messi has had unfair advantages to me.

I can't complain about CR7 either because he's won mostly everything and is a monster in the air.
Pele - revered by the greats. They know and have seen waaay more than me. Their opinion counts for more.
Maradonna - all the old guys rate him as the best, but interestingly the Maradonna fans for the most part, think Messi is the GOAT now.

But at the end of the day, saying "they're all great" is a massive cop out. God himself might know the answer to this question.

Kane was head and shoulders above Bellingham at club level this season, it’s not even close

In fact Bellingham was very underwhelming at club level and didn’t win any silverware

I think the idea that Camarda isn't developing fast enough at 18 to be unfair.

He's a true center-forward. It takes time for players in central positions to develop.

Look at Harry Kane's record before he broke out at 21 with Tottenham. He was not setting scoring records in the lower leagues.

Not everyone is going to be R9 or Van Basten who can be incredible at 17... and that's okay. It doesn't mean they have failed or that they are failing.

Does that mean Camarda will be the next Harry Kane? No, but you could have written off Kane at Camarda's age if your only metric is goals. Yes, that is the striker's job, but most of the all-time great strikers did not start banging in goals at 17. When they're younger you want to see if they understand the fundamentals of the position, which are centered around movement, off-the-ball runs, distribution and hold-up play. It's why Pippo is such a great striker to study, who didn't break out in Serie A until he was 23, mind you.

If you want to bet against young players making it, the odds are going to be overwhemlingly in your favor. It doesn't make you some supreme evaluator of talent, the vast majority of youth players will fail. Again, I'm not arguing that Camarda is a predestined, we don't even know if he'll get to the level of Cutrone--the point is that it is way too soon in his development to write him off.

Wouldn’t this be all the more season to play Chuck at RAM in training?

Personally, I hate the inverted wingbacks thing. We need someone to provide width
