Liberali is doing great with Como, my gut says he will be valued around 30m after a single season of regular football.

The great AC Milano is doing a GOBLOK way of doing business with young players.
when Madrid can earns hundreds of millions managing youngsters, Milan keep losing their talents for peanuts.
(meanwhile keeping the peanut talents inside).
Ibra vision.

Oh brother they got relegated 2 summers back, at this first time of asking was it?

Ibra got all Nepo on Abate's ass and it's been a shit show since day one... We've fucked up several talents, lost some, had Origi there for a while, and Ibra's kid left for Ajax because our system wasn't good enough for a RedTurd employee(that's some damning shit), only for Ibra's kid to be sent back because he's shit.

Did I miss anything chaps?
Oh, we're talking across each other. I thought you were saying Brescia were in D. I know about the Futuro disaster in the first season. Firing Abate and hiring Bonera was criminal.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I'm not buying Modric and Comotto as the answer to RCM, while trying to get back into the CL, and potentially look to compete in SA and Europe?

RLC, Fofana and Musah can all go, I'm not dying on a Musah hill lol... Ricci for rotation and lists, sure, I'll not lose any sleep either way.

For me we need a starting quality CM, let Modric wind down his playing career, and offer a you hater good minutes as well.

We can hope Jashari explodes... But that's a big IF currently.

Rabiot, Then one from Jashari, Modric, Ricci and Comotto, I'm just not confident that's enough.

A lot really depends on sales. Right now it's hypothetical and steeped in narratives?

The idea of starting ChuK, Modric and relying on Nkunku and Pulisic scares the shit out of me... More so if RLC and Fofana are back up, while Salad plays every minute because we have no real cover there?

Again, holes upon holes, but...

I get that, and I think this is basically where the whole "trust the youth" discussion becomes difficult in practice.

Because yes, if you look at Modric + Comotto purely from a risk-management perspective, of course signing another starting-quality CM is safer. I wouldn't even argue against that. But then where does Comotto actually play?

If we sign a starting-quality RCM, Modric becomes his backup and Comotto becomes third choice. That's basically game over for meaningful minutes unless we have an injury crisis. And then we're back to exactly what we were discussing before: we love the idea of giving youngsters a pathway until that pathway requires us to accept some actual risk.

I'm willing to take that risk with Comotto.

Maybe I'll look like an idiot in six months and he'll prove nowhere near ready. 😂 But Modric isn't some random veteran either. Even at his age, I'd trust him to start plenty of games, while gradually shifting more and more minutes towards Comotto if he develops the way I hope he will.

And I think we have to pick our battles in the mercato too. Because I completely agree with you about the holes. That's actually why I'd rather spend serious money elsewhere. Give me another ball-playing CB, a proper RAM and a starting-quality wingback before another CM. Those are much bigger holes to me because I don't see internal solutions there that I particularly trust.

RCM is different because I do see one: Comotto. Same with Jashari. Sure, him exploding under Amorim is an IF. But almost every young player's development is an IF. At some point Milan spent serious money on him because of what he showed at Brugge. Now we're finally playing a system and role that should resemble what made him so good there in the first place. I'd rather find out whether that player is actually in there than immediately put another body in front of him.

And yeah, if we're starting Chukwueze at wingback while Saelemaekers has to play 55 games because there's nobody behind him, I'll be shitting myself right next to you. 😂 That's exactly why those positions are higher priorities for me.

I guess my approach would be: don't try to eliminate every single risk in the squad. Fix the positions where we genuinely don't have convincing answers and deliberately accept some risk where we have talented young players who might become those answers.

Otherwise we'll spend another 100M filling "holes upon holes" and then wonder why Comotto, Camarda and the next Liberali are looking elsewhere for minutes.

Yea , typical Madrid , expecting us to develop the player and then take him back.

It's either a permanent transfer or better not deal with them at all
The only reason we can even get these players is because Madrid don’t currently have the space to develop them properly.

There is no risk-free version of buying young talent. Either you pay 35-40m for someone who has already played a lot at a club like Brugge, Genk, Leverkusen, etc, and then you still run the risk that they don't adapt immediate, like CDK. Or you get someone from Madrid cheaper because they are blocked, not fully established yet, or not immediately ready for their first team, but then Madrid protects themselves with a buyback.

You don’t get the lower price, the elite talent, and no downside. If we want permanent control with no clauses, then we usually have to pay much more upfront.

No need to ask info about Rafa, just put 45-50M on the table and take him

Very impressed with Cisse`, looks like a legit talent. Only played about 15 minutes but in the video you see him getting back on defense and making tackles, good dribbling, uses both feet. Once he's 100% he will be even more effective.

By his familiarity with the ball at his feet you can see that he has great technique on top of speed to get passed defenders. Should be kept, even as third choice, because Pulisic and Nkunku are injury prone and can also move to the right to back up Soule' or whoever we end up with.

The 8 million that we paid Verona for the player may turn out to be a steal if he continues in his progression at some point might end up starting ahead of both Pulisic and Nkunku.

A trio of talented young Italians, (despite what @Soldier of god says about real nationalities), would be of immense benefit to Milan.

They should make an exception for Italy. With 48 countries competing and without Europe we would have a great chance to qualify.

Or pay the same 40 for a teenager that most likely never played senior level and trust that your development is good enough.

A blue one at that
I suspect she got it for herself 😁. Overall it was her first interaction with Milan store everything was fine from Italy to the US, but it seems they got about $70 service fee maybe due to the tariffs

Paz has been a fantastic addition to Como, who developed him into a superstar and in exchange he helped them into the CL

Dry loans (or loans with option) aren't a bad thing, as long as there's a high ceiling and minimal risk (I.E not high wages, contractual obligations on number of appearances), and especially if there's a buy-back clause of the original club.

The developing club, other than not owning the player outright, has no downsides to getting a player from Madrid, especially since they're likely to recruit the best prospects in the world.
And it's not as if AC Milan is an annual CL participant with a stacked roster, if an interesting prospect comes along and could help this mediocre squad, why not.

I agree with this completely.

If we can get our hands on some top talent even if its for a year, we should jump it. Goes for both Mastuantano(or something) and this Arsenal kid. Performing players who gives us a chance to win/advance our standing are worth more than whether or not they're owned outright or not.

We need smartness like this to succeed from our position.

I like those two rumoured players, but it remains to be seen if this new transfer comittee will do well in finding the right players. Like Brahim was. I like Ramos and Gila so far, even if the price for Ramos seems insane. But I like him as a player I must say.

Tbh you are not giving it to Gerry..investing wise..i cant really take it on him. What he spends it on..and the people he trust to land the money are the problem ..
Im thinking of becoming a Ticket holder this season. They went on sale today..and there are some available at 670€..considering those past 2 years i attended 10+ games combined..sounds like a deal
