Pioli isn't the greatest coach on earth, but I'd forgive him a lot of things if he didn't develop a stupid bias towards some players. At first he didnt seem like the kind, but slowly he grew more and more stupid, with the peak being freezing out Hauge. He'd play Samu over Diaz and do other dumb things all of a sudden, like forcing useless leao.. suddenly now Tonali stopped getting minutes as well. I wish he started making more sense.

I won?t accept the fact that it took him 35 weeks to realize he needed a plan B and tried a 4-4-2. It took him 35 weeks to realize we were allowing space on the left and decided to play Hakan there for balance and required from Theo to defend (Theo had his best defensive game against Juve). It took him 35 weeks to realize that such big games need some ?Conte philosophy? you play a balanced game, our ?attacare? mentality did not work in previous games, if we did not manage to score, they used our mistakes, in such big games you have to use opponent?s mistakes. Finishing the first half vs Juve on a 1-0 was ?the best first half? result Pioli?s Milan ever did.

It took him 35 weeks to realize that if you want good football you also need creative, technical players - Diaz, Hakan, Leao - not braindead donkeys. Diaz started and his mediocre boys Krunic & Samu were in the bench (Samu was suspended, lucky us).

Will Samu & Krunic start again next game?
Will Pioli accept that defence is not all about headless agressivity with no focus and teamwork?

Or he will be the ?normal Pioli??

To me he remains a mediocre coach who does not evolve his ideas as much as he should...

Win out, finish 2nd and this has to be considered a very very good season. Still a lot of work to do, but all I want to do is win our remaining matches and fucking mushroom stamp Atalanta to close it out.

To be honest that was one of few good games post injury and probably the only great one.

In todays lineup he was great but that was the first time he was completely played like that.
It shows what he could be for us but at the same time one great game is not a big sample size, today that tweak of the system had the element of surprise on its side.

Bennacer?s last game was also good, he simply risked a bit too much getting a red card and was subbed off by Pioli for this reason.

Pioli did fuck up some games, but EL and Injuries did their part too.
Samu and Krunic, with all criticism towards their Serie A performances, did pull their weight internationally, without them it would have been even more difficult. (Samu should move on though)

Diaz had many good games, most of his games.

He has already scored 6 goals with Milan.

Yeah, but point is he had huge streak of meh games and some shockers where he was among the worst players on the pitch. That's also understandable, but at the same time its normal that trust in a recovering player is lower.

Bennacer did not have ACL damaged or something serious to really worry. He suffered muscular injuries, its just that he was injured again and again and did not manage to fully recover in time. He will become our best midfielder once again.

He is a good scorer and with his past performances that would have been the element putting him in a 15-20m range.
However if he has to play somewhat true to position he suffers from his small frame and also doesn't show a lot of creativity.
Today's role allowed him to sneak around in spaces, actually using his agility and small build to an advantage and he showed creativity like he never did before in our colors. This connecting element is what can potentially elevate him for me.

I don't think many people are doubting that, I?d say that most saw that realistically as something for next season after the summer break and imo that wasn't an unrealistic assessment.

Bennacer :"when you have a player like Ibra who tells you that you have to die for this team than you have to give 200%"

So that was his speech minutes before the start of the game. Even thought he was one the worst player his presence and mentality is much needed.

Everything was perfect. Tifosi cheering in Milanello and after the training. That really set the tone for everything. Than game itself was brilliant ,very exciting. We finally broke the curse of wining in Turin. Last time it was at Delle Alpi with Gattuso's goal. We never won at their new stadium. And in such an important match which can decide who goes to Champions League.
Let's finish like this.

Fabio #Capello says #Juventus put in an ‘embarrassing performance' but insists #ACMilan didn’t do anything special: ‘I asked myself if they are good enough to play in the #SuperLeague.’

Thats true he suffers against big midfielders, luckily juve is missing that. Against teams like Atalanta he?s very inefficient.

Game congestion and fatigue did do damage on most teams. Part of the big reason Inter got distance was because the only had to worry about the league.
I think the biggest blow was the Atalanta game when we did have all our starters but lost big at home. It was a big snowball effect of bad moral since that. Atalanta is still our and Piolis achilles heel.

The winter market was a little inefficient in hindsight. We thought competition would be good for the team but it just caused a drop in intensity. Its as if the players are looking at one another to pick up the slack instead of keeping their head down and doing the work.
Cant say if it was on Pioli or Maldini, maybe both, but it felt like a step backwards. We got too confident and lost the challenger mentality.

Well I think it's normal that he needs time to find match fitness after being out for so long, especially seeing the he's the type of player that leaves it all on the pitch. It's just a bit funny to see some milan fans hoping that he's sold so that Tonali can start. Bennacer is our only press resistant midfielder and I trust him with the ball at his feet wayyy more than Tonali. Bennacer is the type of player that always wants the ball and is confident that he can get it of any situation, Tonali on the other hand isn't someone who would control your midfield and it's been that way since I watched him in serie b, I noticed he did alot of running off the ball but never demanded the ball from team mates.

It pains me that it took Pioli to see our off the ball movement has been horrible for months. Players like diaz excel when other players are moving around them and attacking players have a bit more freedom to move around and swap positions like they were doing today.

we also played better because we had more players around midfield like hakan and diaz (ball playing) and less rebic and leao who would stay more in attack and do nothing (failing on long balls and losing ball on counters)

You're right and the work rate of Diaz and Hakan means they're constantly moving off the ball. Diaz is also very good at finding these lil pockets between midfield line and defense.

What I liked about our season is that we have won vs the big teams, we didn’t dominate them or swept them aside but we’ve beaten them at least and done well... + means positive h2h based on goal difference and - means negative. Based on points won...

Inter - 3/6 -
Napoli - 3/6 +
Juventus - 3/6 +
Lazio - 3/6 -
Roma - 4/6 +
Sassuolo - 3/6

Atalanta left of course, hope we can win that to keep it 3/6 ;p

Aside from Lazio, we’ve beaten them all away from home and lost to them at home

In any case this is acceptable to me, we can beat the big teams at least. If we were able to sweep them, we would have won the league anyway.

I strongly hope we keep Diaz as well. Imagine him in two years time.

If nothing else, I’m so glad Diaz was able to make a positive impact on the season. Dry loans help sometimes when you can’t afford to spend on depth.
