Little bit of shaky start, but once Sales became more of a threat, when we can hold onto the ball, we can start to really look threatening. Our direct routes open them up, but to keep them on-their-toes, we need to be able to hold onto the ball, shifting teams our of their defensive shape.
Defense is solid, Tonali is doing his job very well, providing a lot of cover defensively, too.
My issue is with our attack, Giroud needs more service, when he gets it, he does deadly things. If I wanted to be really pessimistic, the fact that both assists came from defenders (Tomori, Calabria) while good, is scary because I want to see more danger from Sales, Rebic, Leao, which we didn't see until the second half of the first half.
Leao is being much more decisive, deliberate, and that's good. The issue is, the same problems we saw against Real, we saw in the first 20 minutes. Leao did much better with the final ball in the last 20 minutes, but he wasn't seeking the ball like he did in the first 20 minutes.
I want to see more activity from Rebic, more hustling, more involvement. He had a snapshot that flew across the face of the goal, but he can do more.
