Am I the only one here who thinks that Maldini, Boban, Cassano, El Sharawy etc all talking is part of Galliani's scheme? I mean no way would Cassano go against Berlusconi by going out of his way to have his own press conference to talk about thiago silva and how he wants to leave. It just seems like one huge propagenda imo. Whether the purpose of the propagenda is for Galliani to overinflated Silva's value to Leo or make us Milan fans happy that we kept him, idk. Anyway, this season Thiago did not reach the heights he reached in the 2010/2011 season. His nightmare against Arsenal is to be forgotten (giving the ball to rosicky for an autogol). I'm not saying that Silva is shit, but I think Thiago Silva is replaceable where as Ibrahimovic isn't. Keeping Ibra is way more important imo, especially if we manage to land Sakho. A Sakho - Mexes combination in defence is the future of France and the future of Milan as it seems. If Mexes can reach top physical form, I'm not worried about our defence. If a prime Maldini or Nesta was leaving, then yes I'd be outraged, but TS33 is just really well overhyped and marketed. I still think Pique is a better defender then Thiago when on form. United managed to almost win the title against City without Vidic, one of the worlds best CB's let alone us. Milan is not Thiago $ilva. Milan is Milan, with Berlusconi and without Berlusconi. I just hope that 10m of w/e we earn goes towards a Strootman/Sahin signing. A midfield of Sahin/Monto/Aqua/Stroot - Monto/Traore/Ambro - Noce/Emma/Aqua is very good IMO. Of course I'm just talking fantasy football here but the transfer market isn't over until the 31st of August. Luciano Moggi sold Zidane for 80m to Real Madrid and ended up buying Buffon and Thuram which were the symbols of Juventus, I can't see why Milan can't pull off some cheap miracle buys off TS33. If Zidane is replaceable, I'm sure TS33 is as well.

Great post.....

I agree with most everything you're saying. The PR campaign is true.

The form question is legit too. He had most mental errors leading to goals of any of our CBs. He just happens to have physical tools to recover that bonera, nesta and co. don't. Thiago's focus was annoying. You saw v. barca he was all out focus. But in other games, he was coasting. Not saying he isn't absolutely top class. But he gets a lot of passes.

He's still the player I'd want to sell the least. And i DO disagree on mexes and pique and ibra. Thiago is better than all.....

The major fear, and legitimate one, is none of it would be reinvested. Should it be reinvested in 3 quality players, it's worth it. Same with zlatan

Some of what you say i can agree with, but Silva is the best Cb in the world, and by a margin. But the level of CBs has dropped. Nesta IMO would still be the top, even without his pace he could do it against the so called worlds best.

losing Silva or Ibra...... its a tough call. I get that ibra scores the goals that wins games, but without Silva i fear we would concede to many for Ibra to overcome. As for selling silva and getting a Buffon and Thuram..... silva was our miracle buy lol. Selling our Miracle buy to get two more seems unlikely, but your right, who knows.

These next few years could really define our team, will we live of past victorious moments, or create new ones?

His child is wearing a Red Sox hat...I was adamantly opposed to his transfer. Now I will help him find a place in Paris.

Then again I'm a Milan fan, not just a Thiago Silva fan, so some of the sole Thiago Silva fans on this forum may disagree with me :p

Sorry, but TS33 is more important than Ibra. The worst thing is that if we sell Silva, we lose the player that was under tutelage of Nesta. Ibra while being a talented player with extraordinaire technique also wants to be the focal point of the team. It is either Ibra's way or he is going to kick everybody ass starting with Allegri who seems afraid of Ibra. As I said before, when last season we started with our scheme 'pass to Ibra and hope something happens', it was a sword with two edges because it was cool when we were winning, it was obvious that this football-style was not going to cut it against tougher opposition. Also, Pique is better attacking than defending, TS33 is way better than Pique. The only weakness that I have found on TS33 besides his minimal mental lapses are counter-crosses.

I lost all respect for Berlusconi in the past few years, as Milan-president, Italian President and a human.

I know Ibra is more replaceable since we survived without him in many games in both seasons.

This season we won Udinese and Cagliari I think and got a super unlucky draw against Juve.

Last season we kinda clinched Scudetto without him.

But TS was there when we won and wasn't there when we lost.

Because Senatore didnt sit down and watch all the other CB's for the entire season and pick out the 5 errors they made or count how many times they got roasted.

And its all a coincidence that our season went down the tubes when a certain players went out.

We all know Galliani doesnt have three future WC players ready to buy and we all know that any player with an ounce of talent is slapped with a 20+ valuation in the internet age so keep dreaming and hoping we will come out unscathed.

I said he was worse than he was in 2010-11. That's pretty factual.

He's a top tier CB. But he's not head and shoulders above other top class ones. Atleast based on his 2011/12 form

Don't forget that the defence of a team isn't one player. Juve's defence shat on ours this year and that was because the entire Juventus team played like a unit, just like how Italy is playing now (as much as i hate to admit it, a solid juve = solid italy). So for me, if Milan finally invests in the midfield (we are literally only 1-2 players away from being CL contenders), our defensive play will follow. I don't think it's a coincidence that our defence got more exposed without Gattuso. We need a bulldog like Gattuso and I'm hoping that somehow Jesus will let Traore suck on his nipple to gain WC technique because Traore is an engine physically. If we manage to replace TS33 with a player of similar calibre of potential, then I'm satisfied with management. The balances are what they are, and we as fan's can't complain. Our club is preparing itself for FFP and in times like these, drastic measures need to be taken. If we keep Robinho - Pato - Ibra - Cassano - SES92, upgrade our midfield by 1-2 signings and get TS33's replacement with an Acerbi~ish backup, we will be contenders. I don't care about Antonini being LB, the fucker on his day does more then enough if he isn't exposed. We also have Didac Vila and Emmanuelson who are all ready to take over LB as well. For me, the only player I can see leaving in the end of the market if no investments are done is Ibra as he desperately wants CL.

I'm telling you TS is not worth 40 M for PSG.

He is, for us, but not for any other team.

Since the sale came up you have been pushing this agenda about how he was coasting and not mentally there etc.

You just said he committed the most errors of our CB's

But then again you think Abate is good as a RB.

On Thiago Silva - we just wiped out all of our defensive experience in one summer and he is a WC CB who knows our players and elevates the team defensively and offensively. It doesnt matter if he is the best at this moment or not, he is ours and he works in our setup.

If you put in a player of equal (that isnt even realistic) or lesser ability it could be disastrous because of the changes this summer.

we still need a nesta replacement, gattuso replacement and a strootman/sahin signing. if we manage to get aquilani as well, Milan will dominate next year with mr.allegri in the bench :o

Dud, you do not be naive. Ibra is our midfield? I wonder it is because the injuries or because he wants to have the ball on his feet and everybody to work around him. Then explain why he did not work at Barcelona? I thought it was because Ibra wanted to everybody rotate around him. Yeah, Ibra won us games aginst lesser opposition. What did he do against Inter, Juventus? Quite frankly nothing. IMHO, I think he wants to be trequartista but at the same time our main goalscorer.
As I said before, you are entitled to your opinions and I am to mine. For me, TS33 is more important than Ibra.

They should still buy CB, a play-making mid and possibly a fullback - they dont have to be WC but they have to be good with some room to grow.

And the fighting on 3 fronts is folly, win Scudetto and do best in CL - fodder and primavera for Coppa

ok lets remove ibra from this current squad and see how well we cope especially with injuries in place. ibra is injury resistant, he is a physical beast and the only players that can replace ibra are messi and cr7, but you clearly don't seem to understand this. ibra guarantees us consistency throughout the entire season, which no other striker apart from messi and ronaldo offer atm. the very fact we won serie a with a midfield of gattuso - mvb - seedorf laments how much of a game changer ibra is. the very fact ibra can win games on his own shows who ibra is. it's not like he wasn't doing this before, inter were just as ibra dependant as we are.
