Inzaghi: Milan, my fault

Pippo Inzaghi took responsibility for Milan’s second heavy defeat of pre-season and urged his players to improve by next game.

The Rossoneri followed up last week’s 3-0 defeat to Olympiacos with a 5-1 loss to Manchester City on Sunday night to continue their tour of the United States and Canada in miserable fashion.

“It is in front of everyone that we have to improve many things. We have been working only since recently, we come from an eighth place,” began Inzaghi post-match.

“We have done well in the possession phase and less well when not in possession, where we worked less.

“I am sorry because we conceded two of those goals after we had created chances. Only work will allow us to return as soon as possible to being competitive. It’s up to me to review the game and ask for anything more from everyone.

“Balotelli has had a good game, he was ready to 45 minutes, he has to recover his condition bit by bit and we will try to bring everyone up to the same level.

“We still do not like to lose so now the guys have to work well and come back as soon as possible to playing well. In our current condition we cannot get near to the English teams, but certainly we have to give something extra.

“The blame is mine and I take it. The club knows exactly what we have determined, I will work with this team and when we are better and we have recovered everyone we definitely will not be like these two games.

“It is clear that we could have had little more attention and nastiness and it’s up to me to ask for more from the next game.

“I think that when we are complete that we can be competitive in the League. I expect more in the phases when we are not in possession.

“I’m angry with myself because if the team was like then it is through my own fault and that of my staff.

“We start again, we have to work. We have to come back to soon to concede fewer goals. We will have to improve on this.”

I agree on what Pippo says. The pearformance off possession has been really poor. Both because of poor positioning but also because of work rate.

If you for instance look at Saponaras pearformance vs Olympiacos he worked twice as hard in offence as in defence and that simply isn't ok if you want to be a midfielder on this level. I am glad Pippo benched him against Man C so that this gets obvious to Saponara.

To be completely fair he doesnt have much of a roster at disposal.

However come september 1 when Adel Tarrabd is bought and he will have a fine quantity roster of 34 players he will have no more excuses not to win the scudetto.

yaohan exactly. and for me this inzaghi have looked very negative in every matter seen from him. He looks like too shy to be BOSS of team, and these results dont speak for him either, thou team is shit and time is short.

Specially this is very annoying again cos we had very promising coach with big visions but he had to be eliminated cos gallianis and berlusconis politics.

i don't think so, even if results don't go Pippo's way and it ends in a disaster, it'll be more like an Allegri end...because of the "human level"
i feel Pippo will never do anything to get on GOD Galliani bad side, ruler of the earth and sky (of Milan)

i hope this is nothing more than just a bad beginning though

For what it's worth I was lucky enough to be introduced to him in New York and have a chat (as well as some of the team although unfortunately not Balo or Stefan) and afterwards I have even more faith in him delivering this season. So focused and assured it was really inspiring.

1-5 vs Man C. I feel sorry for Inzaghi. Seedorf left a total mess behind him. We all have heard from the players how bad Seedorf managed the team and created really poor morale in the team with strange comments. Obviously it will take some time for Pippo to sort all of these problems out.

you mean 4-3 loss to Sassuolo with 100 chances missed? when Allegri wanted to rest Silva but he asked Allegri to let him play instead? when berlu sold ibra and silva?

If this is true we are in trouble.


we are relying on crossing which is basically allegri's football in the final season, we are sunk and it shows that we are conceding that we do not have creativity to create through the middle like our teams of the past.

This is why we have only scored one goal in the two matches

433 with emphasis on crossing will be a disaster that I can promise.

if we don't have good enforcement coming next month, I predict we'll have at best 1W-1D out of 5 games. I would be happy with 2 wins

I wish he works on defense. In this league a good defense can go a long way.

If we can't beat big teams, then no problem we can draw them and get 1 point, which is really important.
