You do realize Calabria’s muscles are very fragile and will risk an injury if he does not fully recover?

Lol, he is in shape.
He only played 1 game so far. Had few weeks of vacation, and now a week to prepare. I dont see the risk here

So what? You are ignoring that Sarri inherited a squad that had finished 3rd and 2nd in the two seasons previously, again, the reason why Rafa got fired was because he took a top 3-level squad and finished 5th. That's the only reason why Sarri got the job.

Oh, that team also won the Coppa Italia the year before that.

Oh, and Sarri's first season he got Higuain's best ever season, breaking the Serie A goal record.

Did Gattuso have that? Did Gattuso make any choices in the players he got? Hell, did he get much opportunities to spend money this summer? He didn't even get a full season with this management to be creative with what players he wanted to bring in.

Also, what you miss, is that when people talk about Gattuso's performance, they are talking about the second-half of the season. His first few games were bad. Also you are missing context. When Gattuso took over, Milan was 7 points away from 6th place.

Gattuso took the team to the Coppa Italia final. Yes, they imploded there. But he did a great job to get them there. Look at how he turned the players around.

You don't get that Gattuso has done a good job, considering the circumstances?

Also, why are people calling Gattuso a simplistic tactician or "Grintuso" when they are at the same time criticizing him for playing too fancy?

Gattuso will decide his own fate. If he sucks, they'll dump him quickly. This management won't stand around waiting for half a season just because Gattuso has a past with the club. A club like Milan should be about getting results. If he can't get them then goodbye.

Aside from his goal, Calabria looked like shit at RB vs Napoli. A lot of misplaced passes.

I just don't understand.. we spend more then 200m last season and this season we get more new players. But we always end up with an inexperienced or midtable coach.
Every club who wants to be a top team, has a top coach.

I cant remember a team who became champions with an inexperienced or midtable coach.

Napoli
Juventus
Inter
Even Roma

Liverpool
City
United
Spurs

Madrid
Barcelona
Atletico

Psg
Monaco

Even dortmund

All have great coaches.
And we have Gattuso lol. I love him as a player, but as headcoach of such a big team as Milan ? Come on

#ACMilan are interested in #MUFC's Anthony Martial, say reports in France, and could make a move in January

Milan are interested in Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, say reports in France, and could make a move in January.

The French forward has struggled to break into Jose Mourinho’s side at Old Trafford, making 18 starts in the Premier League last season.

According to RMC Sport he has told the club that he doesn’t intend to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

The Red Devils have an option for a further year which they would surely activate, but his price would still fall from the current €40m.

The French outlet believes Milan are ready to beat Chelsea and Juventus to his signature, and would match the €4m net per season he earns in Manchester.

The Rossoneri could even look to take him on loan in January with an obligation to buy, though much will depend on Mourinho.

The Portuguese is under pressure, and if he were to be replaced a new manager could convince Martial to stay.

Hopefully Mourinho could survive through January.

The coaching job fell into Gattuso's lap because the Chinese had no other choice. He would never have sniffed the Milan job with anyone else running the club. He should kiss Mirabelli's feet every chance he gets for giving him an opportunity plus the contract extension. After the Roma game, September is a run of very winnable games, if Milan struggles at any point in the coming month then he'll probably get sacked.

That Biglia is our best regista, that's the problem. Even at his best he is not that good.

To be fair to get someone who is massively better than Biglia in form isn´t easy, It´s not like there are thousands of great registas running around.
It has to be a main goal for us in the near future (Rabiot?) but a club that has not made CL could be far worse off than having Biglia.

I feel the same way. I think they'll let Gattuso decide his own fate. If he can manage to win with this current team then ok with going ahead with him, but I think they are ready to replace him with their long term pick for manager should the shit hit the fan. Leonardo and Maldini basically came in with only weeks left in the mercato. I think this season will be about seeing how Gattuso and the current team does before they spend their resources. I also think Conte is the guy waiting to take over.

Yep. I think the plan is to stick with Gattuso since he did well last season and because Conte isn’t immediately available. Also, we didn’t have the FFP agreement in place to finance Conte’s mercato hence we spent nothing.

This season is about evaluating Gattuso’s ability as manager as well as the playing squad before making drastic changes next year. Meanwhile, we’ll hire Gazidis as CEO to boost revenues and hopefully obtain a Voluntary Agreement before spending freely next summer. Conte will also be available then too.

Let’s hope Gattuso doesn’t put a spanner in the works by overachieving and Borini doesn’t play the season of his career

Calabria has a notorious issue with playing the expected quota of games in a season. It's a longstanding problem and a worrying one when you consider his age.

Musacchio can play rb. He did good the last time he played there
He should be able to cut off Kluivert or Pellegrini easily

Sarri also didn’t have a choice in the players he inherited yet still made them play the best football in Europe in his first year. He also had a similar transfer budget to Gattuso as I already posted.

Like I said, Gattuso did a good job but if you extrapolate his PPG over the entire season we still would’ve finished 6th. I also thought we were lucky to reach the Coppa final as a few games could’ve gone either way.

Regardless, this season is the acid test for his managerial abilities. Not only have we kept 99% of the squad in tact but we’ve also signed the players he wanted including the best striker in the league. He’s also had a full pre-season with the majority of the squad. Let’s see if he manages to crack top 4 and break Higuain’s goal record like Sarri did in his first year

Kaka could get an initial role with Milan and become a scout for the club in Brazil like Serginho, according to Sky

Kaka could have an initial role with Milan, where he would be a scout for the club in Brazil. He could already be present as a Milan representative at the EL draw in Monaco on Friday. [Sky]

 That would be fantastic.

I really like the way Kaka is taking things seriously as well:

ESPN Soccernet 22/8/18 from Gazzetta Dello Sport
"And I still need to study too and understand the mechanisms of work which is new to me. I'm going to follow a course to become a sporting director here in Brazil and as soon as it's possible, I'll take the one to become a coach in Coverciano, but only to round myself off.

Seems really humble to do all that studying and also possibly accepting an intern-type role for the club. Could become an even better director than Leo, although Leo has a tenacity and ruthlessness I'm not sure Kaka can match!

I like the change to Abate. You may lose something going forward, but he's a lot better at defending than Calabria who is very shaky at that and marking players. Just keep things afloat until Conti is healthy.

I would choose Abate over Calabria every single day. People can exaggerate here. Abate certainly is a more than decent player, with plenty of experience. Calabria on the other hand is still young of course, but if he was talented in any way, it would have been obvious by now. Even Bonera was way better at the age that Calabria is now.

Paolo Scaroni to ANSA: "The board of directors assembly went well, I have no worries about Milan. We have discussed our situation with UEFA but also other things that are just as important."
