Calabria is the worst defender in our team, so I guess i am okay with Abate starting.

Calabria’s a wing-back plain and simple. Shouldn’t be fielded in a back 4 and neither should Conti and to a lesser extent Laxalt.

Abate is no where near as bad as people make him out to be.

Sarri also didn’t have a choice in the players he inherited yet still made them play the best football in Europe in his first year. He also had a similar transfer budget to Gattuso as I already posted.

Like I said, Gattuso did a good job but if you extrapolate his PPG over the entire season we still would’ve finished 6th. I also thought we were lucky to reach the Coppa final as a few games could’ve gone either way.

Regardless, this season is the acid test for his managerial abilities. Not only have we kept 99% of the squad in tact but we’ve also signed the players he wanted including the best striker in the league. He’s also had a full pre-season with the majority of the squad. Let’s see if he manages to crack top 4 and break Higuain’s goal record like Sarri did in his first year

Again, his first year, Sarri was taking on a team that was great, but did poorly that last year with Rafa. That was why Rafa was let go. However! So good was Rafa's work with Napoli, so impressive, that Real Madrid overlooked his last season and brought him in to take over Real Madrid. Rafa did that work to make this Napoli team open for Sarri. Which Sarri acknowledged, himself.

Also, Gattuso's first year, he didn't get to pick any of his players. He took over a team that was in free-fall! When you come in for a fired manager, things aren't going great.

In his first year, Sarri brought in Reina (a great GK), Allan (extremely important midfielder), and Hysaj (who with Ghoulam) are some of the best FBs in Serie A. He was also able to bring in Valdifiori (his star with Empoli). The next year he brought in Zielinski, Diawara, Rog, as well as Milik (hurt) (35m) and Pavoletti (18m), as well Tonelli (10m), oh and Maksimovic. That's all.

You're acting like Sarri took his Empoli team to the heights of Serie A. He took over a team that was built upon a foundation of Mazzari and Rafa, with an owner (however crazy) who actually cares, while they also feature one of the best SDs in the business.

Like, do you think Sarri would've been able to take over with Miha (who I hate) and do a better job? I'm honestly not sure. And I loathe Miha.

Gattuso had a team assembled by F&M, which he took over after the previous manager got fired for destroying the team, while only getting a month and some with Leonardo and Maldini for this season, having to deal with the potential for a ban by UEFA, not sure who the owners will be. You cannot fairly compare those two periods, the lack of stability, and the constant turnover in management and ownership and pretend like it's not a problem. Like Gattuso doesn't have more headaches to deal with than Sarri did.

However, you can continue to be obtuse and pretend that "PPG" is the only metric that we're going to look at, because there is context to what was happening. It was the context of Montella's first season (the unrest, no money, etc) that made people (including myself) believe in him. But he failed, unfortunately. Or that Higuain, who is much older than he was when he broke the record should break the record this year--otherwise it is a Gattuso failure--or even that players should be expected to break their record year. If Messi never scores more than his record year, but still plays great, is he a failure?

Gattuso might fail. I hope he doesn't. But acting like he hasn't done a good job is hilarious to me. Conte took a Premiership winning team, spent millions (Rudiger, Bakayoko, Morata, Zappacosta, and Drinkawater PLUS Barkeley, Emerson, and Giroud in the winter) and finished 5th. But people are saying Conte is what we need. Maybe if Conte wasn't forced to play with players he didn't want (I believe he hated Morata), maybe if Abramovic didn't fire his managers every day he wouldn't have had to get Conte, maybe if Conte was a horrific man-manager he wouldn't have the entire team against him? This is all context that is important.

Maybe if Gattuso is fired Conte can come in, but acting like Gattuso is some failure after one game, especially as he's the first manager since Seedorf (who didn't get a fair shot) to push Milan to play attacking football. Montella tried but did a shitty job, Miha couldn't, Inzaghi couldn't, and yet I have to read the same hackneyed lines that Gattuso is "just grinta"?

Napoli's success was built on years of careful planning and slow build-up with two very good SDs (Bigon and Giuntoli) who built their squads properly, but also, it is much easier to build slower when you at a team like Napoli. Milan needs to win, now, today. We cannot accept "we played positive against Napoli." Milan can't build like Napoli, we can't give a 6 year window like Napoli did with Bigon. Bigon moved Napoli from 12th to 6th, then to 3rd, before back to 5th, which would've been a disaster at Milan. Acting like there is the same pressure at Napoli, or Lazio as there is at Milan is ridiculous.

It's by I'd be worried about being Gasperini the manager's job here. Inter treated him like trash, but he did terrible with them. Sometimes managers can't make that step up. Gasperini is a very good manager, but sometimes people can't make that step up.

Anyway, I'm done.

"make him out to be" ? Man im not his hater or anything, but he regressed badly... Last season was literally a walking error, his mistakes led to goals many times. If i wasnt lazy, i would make 10 gifs where he fucked up in last 2 years.

You’ll get that in only one game, against Sampdoria 0-2

we have a chance here 2-2 or 3-2 either way. Tough test for Caldara, and if gattuso was smart laxalt or samu will start on the wing as roma are slow af.

In today's board meeting, the offers for the two ad (Gandini and Gazidis) were formalized. There is still some waiting, both have clauses to be respected with their current teams.

There is gonna be a new pair each week.

Back to the game.

We've gone so low that Hakan is our saviour now
I've told you guys, we need Creative Mid badly, and i'm getting bashed by some.
Now, we have to rely on the turk to make some magic

On another business,
The best role available for Kakà is a trequartista. He'd do better than anybody in the roster.

Ooh, its been a while since i wrote the word "Trequartista". That's what we lack of, an Ace Trequartista.
