Kojak, Higuain deal is loan with option to buy.
It's a good deal.

Correction - signing Higuain is a great deal regardless of whether its an option/disguised obligation. I just wish we would've signed a couple more players of the same level. Hopefully this will happen next summer if we manage to get a Voluntary Agreement.

Yes, just doing a quick search and it seems Roma have had some positive changes since Gandini was appointed. Their stadium project approval got through with him at the helm. Appointing Monchi as SD was a masterstroke as he is an expert at buying talent at a reasonable price and then selling at a premium. Milan could be run that way and that would be a realistic path towards sustainability.

But it would be even nicer to return to being the apex predators of the transfer market like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus, Man Utd, Man City and previously Chelsea. Yes, still be clever about sales but buy players at the top or as they are heading for the top and make sure they spend their best years with us. Milan have more brand power and history than Roma so hopefully it is this scenario rather than the AS Roma model. Also, with Elliot appointing Leo who is more known for his work with us under Galliani as well as for PSG hopefully this is what they have this in mind.

I guess Elliot are attempting to have all the bases covered which hopefully bodes well for the club. They seem systematic about their approach and that is very reassuring.

I've got no issues with Elliott or the management team they've assembled. They're the #1 hedge fund in their industry and have recruited a stellar team to manage us on their behalf.

However, until we hire a top coach and have half a starting XI full of top players we can forget about winning anything and guaranteeing CL qualification every year. The teams that always finish highest have the best coaches and most top players period.

In all competitions. We'll see how "pathetic" our midfield and forward line really are when we get into the season. I think we have the ability to surprise both own pessimistic fans and other teams this season.

What irritates me is that if we lose against Roma on friday 50 people in here will run around with jelly bean sized dicks and claim the season is over. It isn't. And Gattuso shouldn't be sacked either.

I don't think Gattuso should be fired until we have a top coach lined up (ie Conte). Like I said, I actually think he could've finished top 4 had he been given the right players (i.e. 2 creative mids and an established winger). Instead, management plugged the striker, CB and Kessie backup gaps whilst leaving creativity and wingers untouched. Therefore, he faces an uphill battle.

We played well against Napoli for the first hour (and on level terms) until the disparity between the two squads and manager's settled things.

Interesting.. From what you are saying we could have lined up like this:

Hakan---Higuain---Suso
(Keita)--(Cutrone)--(Callejon)

Strootman---Biglia---Kessie
(Bonaventura)--(Bakayoko)--(Bertolacci)

RR---Romagnoli---Caldara---Calabria
(Strinic/Antonelli)--(Musacchio)--(Zapata)--(Conti/Abate)

Giglio
(Reina)

I must say that is actually a pretty tight looking squad if all the said players were keen to join Milan (not sure if Keita and Callejon would move to us without CL and IIRC Keita wasn't too keen on us at all).

Strootman I'd be slightly worried about given his injury history but otherwise he's the kind of quality that could improve our midfield. Not sure if Roma would sell to us at the same price being a direct rival (I think they knew Nainggolan was on the decline).

Another thing is it may have been hard to get rid of Bacca for just cash. Maybe Villarreal were playing hardball knowing Bacca only wanted them.

Then there was the Lapadula money which may have required a lot of legal ugliness to extract. Laxalt may have been the only win-win settlement.

I think there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes. Maybe Leo couldn't do any better. Or maybe he should have done better. Would be interesting to know.

Based on strong rumours, we probably would've ended up with a better starting XI had Mirabellend stayed. Thumbellina said we'd sign an important striker + midfielder in addition to a winger. We were heavily linked to Immobile/Belotti and Depay and probably would've signed Pastore/Strootman in midfield. Also, if Suso was sold we were ready to exercise Callejon's release clause.

Depay---Immobile---Callejon

Strootman---Biglia---Kessie

where do you think he would get the money for these?

same sources linked the club with Zaza and Baselli

Just also thinking out loud how Mirabelli may have assembled our squad for this season:

Hakan---Zaza---Callejon
(Bernard--Cutrone--Borini)

Bonaventura--Biglia--Kessie
(Baselli--Badelj--Samassekou)

RR--Romagnoli--Musacchio--Calabria
(Strinic/Antonelli--Gomez--Zapata--Conti/Abate)

Gigio
(Reina)

I think I'm happier with our current squad.

rofl that bench midfield is better than the first team's midfield

depay
strootman or rabiot

then we can make top 3 or else its top 5. maybe 4th if we play well as a team.

Same way we signed our players this season ie staggered loans with obligations. First year installments would've been covered by...

Immobile = Higuain
Strootman = Samu
Depay = Laxalt/Bakayoko/Bertofodder

We probably would've made 1 big sale (Donna/Suso) to balance the books and signed Callejon.

Btw, Mirabellend also said not to pay attention to the Zaza rumours. He doesn't exactly qualify as an important striker and neither does Baselli for midfield.

not looking at context, Samu, Laxalt, Higuain were only possible because of special circumstances

I agree though a big sale would have done a lot for the mercato

I wonder with what money Mirabelli would have improved our squad so much. One of those 1m deposits from Li?

This shit needs to stop. For real, make a thread for posters who do not want to read this negative shit all the time and ban those specific users from participating in this thread.

Start amassing an extensive ignore list. There are a few posters here who have to be trolling, its impossible to be such a negative shithead.

Donnarumma

Calabria - Caldara - Romagnoli - Laxalt

Kessie - Biglia - Bonaventura

Živković - Higuain - Calhanoglu

Could also see Manuel Lazzari at Milan next year for €5-10M (he's a much better version of Borini)
