If the meating was so tense, Paolo would have left already.
He’s not gonna be a part of an argument, not get what he wants, then wait a few weeks/days to announce it.

Probably would have stormed out of Casa. And we would all know by now. Not the ”might stay, get billions, get nothing, stay, go”-shit we’re seeing right now

What the fuck is Redbird doing?
Looks like sticking to their guns of spending reflecting the goals of top 4 in Serie A + r16/QF in CL every year until stadium at least or sell to someone else.

Could be other things like % of control, but just my guess

Tbh if you look at things OBJECTIVELY you can understand why RedBird want more of a say in the mercato. Last summer, M&M asked for complete autonomy and they completely blew it after RedBird granted their wishes. Here's a few highlights:-

*ZERO sales
*Passed up Dybala for free (26 goal contributions in all comps this season) in order to sign CDK
*Passed up Enzo to sign Sanches but ended up with Vranckx (Benfica sold Enzo for 100m)
*Passed up Muani to sign Origi (EF will collect 90m+ from his sale)
*Spent 35m on CDK, Vranckx + Dest who never play
*Redeemed injury prone Florenzi for 3m and handed him a lucrative 3 year contract with 6m gross wages
*Redeemed fridge delivery driver Messias for 6m
*Handed Origi a lucrative 4 year contract with 5m gross wages
*Renewed Baka for another year with 5m gross wages
*Renewed Ibra for another year with 2m gross wages

Following these disastrous decisions, we limped our way into the top 4 solely due to Juve's points penalty. Therefore, you can't really blame Cardinale for wanting to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself. Also, he recently said that qualifying for the CL was of the utmost importance from a financial perspective which PROVES he's only here to make money.

Having said that, I think letting go of Maldini would be a HUGE mistake simply because he's already proven to be a very capable SD in the past who built a Scudetto winning side on a shoestring budget whilst signing the likes of Maignan, Tomori, Kalulu, Leao, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer etc at reasonable prices in comparison to their market values today. However, Maldini needs to do some serious soul searching and figure out how he went from having the midas touch to getting everything catastrophically wrong last summer (bar Thiaw).

Also, Maldini has created a nice, family environment at the club and is the glue that holds everything together (and an ASSET in transfer negotiations) and if he were to leave then the self-belief the team has built in recent years (which didn't exist before) will be gone too. Therefore, the best approach is to continue together but Maldini also needs to accept that he isn't the one paying the bills and needs some supervision until he can PROVE otherwise.

Agreed. Last year's mercato was a disaster so Maldini can't be surprised that he won't get full autonomy for this one.

Maldini wants the club to be run like a top club... have you heard any of Maldini's interviews the last four years? Where do you get this idea from?

He's slashed costs, haggled over deals left-and-right, and has overseen the sporting environment that has doubled the club's revenue in the span of a few years... and now you're telling me Maldini doesn't realize the issue?

If they didn't agree on the vision, then why would he sign? The owner is the one who you should assign blame for, not the employee. Owners set expectations. If those expectations change, that's on the ownership.

I don't get your take on this one, genuinely.
Because he's been clamoring for change and expressing how frustrated he is. Clearly, this isn't what he had in mind for his Milan

I said it last summer but I genuinely think he signed because if he didn't at that moment the club would be fucked, waiting until the last moment to sign meant he wasn't fully satisfied but was willing to put up with it now

My take is simple, if he doesn't want to get behind the project set by ownership then it's best if he goes. I don't blame him and it isn't his fault but it's best for everyone

All summer last year they chewed and spat us out with all their drama. People here at each other's throats every day until the big signing arrived. All that for 0 goals at the end from our big splash. Now this again. They can't just go out there and handle a summer mercato like normal clubs, can they?

Maldini's mercato has A DISASTER. That's a fact.

But keeping Pioli is another mistake he's doing now.

You think MM wanted 50m and you define that as "granted their wishes," lol, what?

Dybala's addition to Roma got them... 6th place. They finished behind Atalanta.
Enzo and Muani, skipping that, CDK is a Moncada choice that people pretend is a Maldini choice.... let's see, what else?

Florenzi was a big help in our Scudetto, both on and off the pitch. Calabria and Florenzi both suffered the same muscular injury, maybe it's... Pioli's fitness staff?
Renewed Baka? It was a two year loan. Bro, what are you talking about?
Ibra? Yeah, the guy who took a huge pay-cut, while giving us endless publicity and being cited by all our players as the impetus for our growth?

Yeah, Maldini got everything "catastrophically wrong" except Thiaw who... is the only player that Pioli played from Adli and Vranckx. Meanwhile, Pioli kept playing CDK in a position that didn't work. If I played Giroud as my CAM and kept wondering why it didn't work, maybe I'm the problem?

Kojak, I think my big disagreements with you are rooted in your adjective use. I think that's what it is. I respect your zeal though. I just... lol, vehemently disagree with you on so many things.

Pioli being the only one to stay is something so cruel

I knew there would be a price to pay for Leao's renewal and that wonderful ceremony yesterday

Banana republic vibes over having these kind of issues right when the trigger should be pulled on our first moves

I see that you're losing it early this year. Even before the mercato has started. Time to start kayaking the Norwegian rivers brother.

There are far too many to name past & present
Don't we have 1 more year of UEFA looking over our books so we have to keep costs within budget.

Wasn't Gerry supposed to come in and get us a stadium agreement at minimum? What a fraud!

Next few months of mercato are the first real test for Redbird. First hours don't look promising. Too much drama.

They will surely give Maldini the boot.. that snake furlani I believe is the one behind it as he wants full control of everything.. no place for ppl who want power and decision making

They wanna run the club their way

Problem is our important players are mostly here because of maldini.. they love having him.. if he leaves it will be a disaster
