Diaz signed a new contract with Real until June 2027
So I guess he is good enough for Real?

I was a big fan of hitting the opposing striker as early as possible and as hard as fucking possible without getting a card to make a statement. Get them looking over their shoulder every time they get a touch.
My father told me that he played in highschool (usa) in the 70s. No Americans knew the rules then (also now) so they'd just cause fouls and then on their own fks; kick it as hard as they could at opposing players they didn't like.

The game should be physical. Players are men not children. We also see that simulation is a foul but refs don't penalize players for. This hurts the integrity of the sport. The Americans who dislike footballs major criticism is that "soccer has too much diving". Though now that America has become pussy, we see the dishonest theatrics in every sport.

As an attacking player I disagree with you two guys on this lol.

Interesting.

Quick question: do you think Ancelotti underachieved with the Milan he coached?

It’s hard to say.

Before the Petro-dollars came in - football had a knack for evening itself out.

Even the galacticos and Pep’s Barcelona could be considered as underachievers as well.

I personally think that he met expectations during his stint with us.

The Ndicka links makes sense given we haven't had a natural left-footed defender since Romagnoli left, but I'd be surprised if Roma managed to lose him to us whilst we're shuffling the entire management. If he's given his word to Roma and Mourinho, there's little we can do.

Regardless, I'm not sold on him as I was with Botman last year. There will always appear a batch of left-footed defenders with experience playing in a back four that we can sign.
it will be funny if Ndick will choose Roma over us, because Roma project and Mourinho name.

I get simulation but I really hate it. Thinking back to my playing days if you got fouled you fought like hell to stay on two feet in case nothing got called, because you’d be out of the play. Not to mention when players lay on the ground pretending to be in agony but at the expense of their teammates playing a man down.

For the record I’m not comparing the level I played at as anything close to this haha

On the technical side we will be more than fine wit Moncada, on the mental side Maldini obviously is a huge loss.

Marotta spent less than Maldini last summer. And the summer before that. The guy is head and shoulders better SD than Maldini ever could dream of being.

You again came back to the false notion that spending = transfer spending when for your previous post you agreed that Inter spending is much more!!

stevan said:
"Well yes but I don't think the level of spending is what's being discussed here. They have been spending more and have higher squad costs. "

At least say the same thing from one post to another!!

Just Lukaku one year salary is 16-17 mil. CDK 1 year ammortization is (32 / 5 = 6.4 mil ) plus salary of 2.8 mil = 9.2 mil! CDK with a 32 mil transfer has almost half the yearly cost of Lukaku.

If you want to be non-biased at least look at the total expenditure of the team. Inter's yearly spend between salaries and transfer amortizations is much higher than Milan's.

Inter made a loss of over 200 mil last year. Milan only made 60 mil of loss. That is the number that matters for accounts and for FFP. Now if you limit Marotta to Milan's level of spending it obviously will impact their performance.

tbh he has a sureshot starting spot there
they play back 3 which is used to playing
they play with low block which makes defending easier and less mistakes..
mourinho will improve him defensively for sure
a year or so back other big clubs were in for him but now they aint thats gonna hurt his confidence somewhat so he may want to take a more certain job than possibly rotting on bench behind thiaw and tomori ..
pioli has shown his incompetence in getting younger players in the tean and gving them confidence..
there are plenty of good reasons to go to Roma

Everywhere I've read says that Lukaku's salary is 8m. Where are you guys getting this 16+m figure?

Spending money on transfer and spending money on salaries are two different categories. While Inter has been spending less on actual transfers, they are able to offer those same players higher salaries.

It's the exact same thing what happened with Origi. Except Origi flopped.

Yes, their total yearly spend is higher and they have had higher losses. They've also finished higher in the league and are now in the CL final.

As I've stated already, the point is that every year the same report comes out about their impeding downfall and it turns out to be false. How stupid does a person have to be to believe it, every single year?

The league I play in, which is massive and supposedly one of the biggest on the east coast, has awful refs that make some of the stupidest decisions you’ll ever see. Probably typical of amateur football, but if you don’t sell your foul a lot of times you won’t get it.

I won’t dive but I will embellish to make sure the ref knows I was kicked, if that makes sense. No shame. I tend to dribble the ball out of the midfield a lot and I have a knack for getting other players booked, so I don’t care if someone calls me soft or not lol.

Staying on your feet is respectful, of high integrity. Diving is an admittance that you're not at the mental and physical level be steadfast.

But if this is going to be "a group" effort now, why would we blame one single person (Moncada) if things go wrong? We need to fire everyone then. Moncada, The little midget Furlani, Pioli and the entire "analytics" team. Right? Isn't that the point of getting rid of Maldini? To share responsibility?
The only person that is in jeopardy is Pioli

Furlani came from Eliot who still 'own' the lion share because of the loan and Moncada is leading the analytics which is what the owner believes in. Moncada will move on if he gets a better job or if Gerry finds someone else to do it for cheaper but I doubt the line about winning and being elite is true - its a throwaway for us fans.

I've had refs tell me that I didn't get fouled hard enough. So the decision I have to make is: do I get hit and get my foul? Or do I avoid it, but lose balance or the ball?

I think about Tammy Abraham in the Conference League final last year, he got fouled, should have been a red for the defender, but because he didn't fall, the defender got away with it.

Roma won last year, but defenders will tell their attackers to take the dive.

When I was younger I could take those hits and bounce back up, but I can't anymore lol.

I was talking to guys I play against, nice guys, and they just admitted that their strategy was just to hit me. It was like having one of my conspiracy theories confirmed lol, it was liberating.

Sorry to have stuck my nose in on this, just thought I'd add.

I did not know about these issues, I do not think these apply to Maldini.

I am a very casual observer of American sports, I think the larger point about making a big decision, raises expectations still stands, or would you disagree?

Maldini's transfer plans being leaked about needing more experience and having a differences on budget and his and the clubs ideas were nolonger aligned. Not on the level of Jackson on what has come out but you know leaks are leaks especially after someone got fired.

If you're a big club/team/franchise every major decision is big and automatically raises expectations have to keep on moving forward. New season new hope.

Roger Federer is the GOAT
Our great captain Calabria (who was made captain by Maldini) didn't say a word publicly. Unlike Theo, Mike, Rafa, Benna, Sandro... and everyone in whole Italian calcio.

That's how important "captain" Calabria is. He can go thank God 10 times a day he's at Milan coz God only knows why!!

Huh???

And he said that before this photo was taken too

I’m 6’2” with legs like Seedorf. In college I was 178 lbs, now I’m pushing 225. When I play for fun nowadays if guys start getting rough I just tell them “this isn’t going to work out for you.” It doesn’t.

Who would buy gabbia for that kind of money lol? Best we can get is loan + option to buy for like 2--3 milions

Very harsh to call someone stupid for thinking inter will fall off. They’re just kicking the can down the road. People here would have been very upset if we signed bandaids like Acerbi or Mhki. They have a big loan to pay off that cannot be ignored.

They’ve got a great director who is probably the only one in the country capable of keeping them competitive, but eventually one of those Acerbi type signings won’t work. The fact remains they need to pay back a lot of money and a lot of their key players are getting older. Considering they only, objectively, went a little further than Milan on all fronts, I for one am not jealous of inter.

You can say they won’t fall off if you want, but it’s pretty clear they’re at the end of their winning cycle. Sooner than later they will have to cut costs and start a new cycle.

Scaroni in the interview said

We were talking about Pioli: his figure comes out strengthened, yet there was a moment, after Spezia, in which Maldini wanted to exempt him (and among the names he had also thought of Pirlo).

"I don't want to express myself on the idea of the exemption, but yes absolutely, Pioli is central to the project".

he didn't say that was false he said he does not want to express himself
can you link the inverview?

I have trouble believing that Maldini would want to appoint Pirlo as our next coach, especially as Italiano was the rumored choice, for example.

I think comparing Jackson and Maldini is grossly off-the-mark.

Hell no glad you added. Maybe we met and played against each other and I was said nice guy, and we just didn’t know it? JK but that is why I think I don’t like it. Loved being physical and used to get pissed when guys would crumble haha was typically bigger than most I played against so used it to my advantage

Interesting.

Quick question: do you think Ancelotti underachieved with the Milan he coached?

Domestically yes. We use to be out of the title race by October with our slow starts to the season.
