We should organize an RnB game! (Real) Positivity vs (real) negativity, lol. (I know who would win btw)

I don't mind physicality as long as it is fair and clean.

Have you ever had your play style compared to a player you hated?
Oh I play fair and clean. I was just an asshole in college, but after in leagues I guess I was still an asshole playing men’s open. Over-30 is where I grew up 😂 but actually stopped playing about 33/34 because dudes were still living the dream and sliding from behind, had to worry about being able to go to work the next day haha. Fine with physical just not dumb stuff like that!

That’s a good question haha I don’t know that I have

That’s a pretty marginal difference in quality.

Ok, honesty time:

We played them 5 times this year. They beat us 4 of those 5. GD 9:3. I've watch all games, I'm guessing you did too. Did it feel to you like there's only a "marginal" difference in quality?

“Italy Legend Paolo Maldini Lambasts Yoann Gourcuff’s Attitude While With Milan

Yoann Gourcuff failed with Milan simply because he didn't apply himself, Paolo Maldini has explained.

Former Milan star Paolo Maldini has launched a scathing critique of why Yoann Gourcuff’s move to Italy failed, citing a poor attitude on the young Frenchman’s part.

Gourcuff moved to the Rossoneri from Stade Rennais in 2006 but lasted only a couple of seasons in Italy before retreating to Girondins de Bordeaux first on loan and then on a permanent basis. Now with Olympique Lyonnais, the 24-year-old is in the midst of a difficult campaign and he will face further questions after Maldini’s assessment of his time in Serie A.

“Gourcuff in Milan was wrong 100 per cent,” he revealed to L’Equipe. “His problem here was his behaviour. He did not show an intelligent way to manage himself. When he played here, he did not want to make himself available to the squad.

“He did not start studying Italian immediately. He did not work. He was not always on time. It happened a lot. [There are] things he cannot tell. But he knows what he did.”

Even on the park, Maldini was not impressed. “When he came into the game, he did not give himself fully,” the former defender stated. “Less talented players have earned the respect of Milan because they gave everything. Him, he did not. And he knows it. After a while he became foreign to the group.”

Gourcuff won't feature in Lyon's weekend encounter with Paris Saint-Germain, ruled out of the match due to an injury sustained against Schalke on Wednesday.”

Man I remember this. Paolo quelled the nonsense in the media that was brewing and Gourcuff didn't even defend himself because he knew there was truth in Maldini's words. No one could deny Yoann's talent but it was clear to see that he was starting to believe his own hype without actually producing the results. I remember Yoann Gourcuff and Yoan Gouffran doing some good things at Bordeaux buy it never really got much better.. A truly wasted talent.

Yes, we were better than them for the entire first half of the season, that’s about 4-5 months. The team had a mentality implosion and to build back up. But believe it or not the first half of the season does count, I have a memory that goes beyond the last month. And we were much better than them then, and raked up more points. Of course, they had the better season and they finished higher, but there’s a reason they finished what, 2 points above us? Maybe 3?

Their team is definitely deeper, I have always cited that as a major difference. Helps a lot with cups in particular, our team has to get deeper. But the table is a far better indicator than 4 matches. That’s just a fact.

Also glad you didn’t address any of the other stuff in my response.

Buddy - you thought CDK was going to break through and the only thing he is going through is the terminal at Malpensa
Correction, CDK is STILL going to breakthrough. Whether with Milan or not. For some #Perspective, I also thought selling Paqueta was a huge mistake because he was a unique talent with a undefinable skillset. He’s now a starter for Brazil at World Cups and just won UECL for West Ham with a game winning assist. So, when CDK does explode, you will be one of the people I’ll keep an eye out for when he does so I can projectile shit directly in your face. Bring a bib bud

Gundogan is about to win treble as captain of Man City and hes "basically begging us to join the club?" hahaha what is this weed that makes one delusional?
Lol I guess you haven't learned how to read between the lines...both the player and his agent have refused to discuss his future recently and he just professed his love for Milan the other day e.g. wife lived here, wedding here, first son born here, loves holidaying here.

My father told me that he played in highschool (usa) in the 70s. No Americans knew the rules then (also now) so they'd just cause fouls and then on their own fks; kick it as hard as they could at opposing players they didn't like.

The game should be physical. Players are men not children. We also see that simulation is a foul but refs don't penalize players for. This hurts the integrity of the sport. The Americans who dislike footballs major criticism is that "soccer has too much diving". Though now that America has become pussy, we see the dishonest theatrics in every sport.

What's your thoughts on American football just being rugby for big softies?

Ancelotti can suck my 6.8-inch

When we needed him to return the most, he went hiding in Canada and strung us along for a ride for months before saying that he was taking time off for a “back problem”…

…next minute he’s sitting on the bench at Bayern Munich.

Don’t come out and talk about Milanista history and tradition when you pick and choose when you wish to respect it.

‘Next minute’

It was literally after 365 days 🤦‍♂️

And we didn’t need him back then, would have ruined his legacy and gotten the boot just like Seedorf/Gattuso/Inzaghi all did

There are far too many to name past & present
Okay. But if Redbird get 6th next year, and then 5th the following year, will people be referencing the myth that Pirlo would be Maldini's choice?

Winning cures all. If Redbird lose, then people will be pining for Maldini.

Look at the revisionism over Hakan, for God's sake.

Yes winning does cure things it also covers up things that are going wrong and people blindly overlook. Shiney new toy syndrome. Burning house kid swinging meme.

If Redbird loses than we should be worried and using Maldini sacking as a pissing contest as a haha moment is just deflecting that the likelihood our team will be stripped to help pay off Elliott. No one wins.

You're always going to have some people be seen as rebels and others seen as loyalists. The game is the game people love to complain.

Not happening.
Doesn't fit in with RedBird's philosophy of buying young and cheap players who will retain market value for their next sales.

Paolo may have been willing to buy Giroud or Aurnotovic, but this current Milan will not.
Lol so you think MF are going to just strictly sign a bunch of 20yo even if there's a phenomenal market opportunity up for grabs aka the midfield equivalent of Dybala (but slightly older and better) who Furlani was strongly pushing for last summer?

Also, Giroud has proven to be an excellent signing whose goals helped to win the league and progress further in the CL and he was signed straight after winning the competition with Chelsea

Lol yeah yeah go and tell that to Moncada & Furlani:lol:

Kjaer is getting old and will never be the same again plus Gabbia is a traffic cone masquerading as a footballer. N'dicka would be a great depth signing with a good chance of becoming a regular starter.
im not saying its a bad transfer. he's an alright defender but not a world beater..tho i dont know why he'd pick sitting on the bench for us over starting for roma. we'll see what happens :)

Apologies for a long post but wanted to share my thoughts.

Jokes aside. Many of you guys do not know how to bussiness works, or you just don't want to believe that Milan is now a company. Lets be frank here. RB is not here to run the club and to use a club as a personal PR (read Berlusconi) or "wash" the money (ready PSG, City, Juventus). They are here to make a profit. Now there is a two way you can make a profit: A) making sure your annual revenues are trending over annual cost or B) selling the club a higher value that was purchased (Including all the losses you may accumulated over the way). Obviously one doesn't exclude, as a matter of the fact the best strategy is to combine them. IMO the latter is exactly what is RB plan.

Now to sell the company at best possible value the key is to have meet couple of economic KPI's. First of all increase the revenues and make sure that revenues are growing at higher pace than your expenses (example. if you increase your revenues by 10%, a rule of the thumb is that your expenses should not grow at higher or same pace). Before i explain furtger please note that Milan was in a loss making position for a decade, with additional 100M loss in 2022 (revenues 240M, cost 340M). Please note that this is for a season we ended winning scudetto and included all the premiums, but it is true that matchday revenues were small due to Covid restrictions still in place. This year it is expected for our revenues to be close to 400M. Assuming that cost structure has been pretty much the same, it will be a first breakeven year. Way to go. However, extension of the contracts for our key players (theo, Tomori, Kalulu, Bennacer, Tonali, Leao), will have an impact on the paycheck bill in the next seasons. At the same time, we also brought Origi and CDG who are having significant impact on our cost, between the paycheck and the acquisition fee (CDK).

In terms or revenues that are couple of relevant sources. Matchday revenues, TV Rights, Sponsors and Stadium. With us winning the Scudetto last year, increasing the average attendance to 72k and reaching CL final, we are already at peak with Matchday revenues and TV rights. Sponsors are expected to pay higher fees for their name on the shirts and stadium now that Milan is back to top 15 clubs, but there is no large window. TV revenues may grow, but impossible to compete with EPL. And finally stadium. We do not have one and it is not going to happen before 2027. What I am trying to say that Milan revenue limit without the stadium is 500M max and this means that we have to play CL football every single year.

Now lets review the cost structure. Main drivers are services (administration, legal, …) 65M, Stadium rental 25M, Amortization of the players acquisition fees 76M, and salaries 162M. Now acquisition of a player like Halland would hit that line by approx. 50M per year (30M gross salary and 20M amortization of the 100M fee over 5 years contract). Thus, forget about 100M mercatos, especially as the expensive players are also seeking expensive salaries. Thus this is out of reach for Milan at the moment!!!!

Also you need to think about KPI.s, If company is making 100M in revenues and has a cost structure of 50M this is a 50M profit but also a 50% GM. If the company is making 500M in revenues but has a cost of 450M it also makes 50M in profit but GM is only 10%. What do you think which company is worthed more on the market?

What I am trying to say that increasing cost in line with our increase in revenues will not work as a strategy if we want to be competitive and profitable. Thus is why we have to look for alternative way and this is creating value. In the company players are “assest” and if you buy an asset for a cheap price and sell expensively or at least his real market value is increase this is how brand is growing. We do not need to sell leao for 150M. What is important is that his true market value is not 100M+ and we purchased him for 35. Also if you find a prospect like Thiaw, you purchase for 6M and his value today is 20, you made an instant “unrelized” profit of 14M. Now this is a bussiness and this is what now attacts the attention of investors.

So long story short. I do not see Milan selling key players as this will be a big risk to our secured sport in CL every year. Maldini paid the price as he purchased “expensive” players (ORIGI and CDK) whose market value didn’t increase and at the same time we are paying their high salaries. This is why we have a big no to Arnautovic, Berardi and similar players that will not significantly increase the level but will significantly increase the cost!!! Yes, we all want instant glory but are we really expecting that owners will pay for that our of their pocket. Those times are gone. Let think about sustainability. We can grow at easier pace but organically and set ourself on a strong foundation for the future. Minimal risk and secured growth. This is now the philosophy, and the only way to succeed is for all of us to be on board! Once again, hard to accept that we are not at Madrid, United and Bayern levels, but we made so many wrong decisions since 2007, and we are more down than we think. One scudetto is not going to cure our problems, as well as once scudetto will not make Napoli or Leicester a big European club!

Who cares who was at the top at the end of 1st half? 1st half of the season is irrelevant. It's where you end up at the end of the season that counts.

The season also includes cups. Those games are a part of the entire season. I agree that they finished only 2 points higher than us but they also knocked us out of the two cups.

I play in a competitive league now. But they had to remove sliding, which I think is partly due to injuries but also because all the fields now are artifical grass.

It has made things better.

Exactly, like I said bandaids are short term and don’t work forever. It’s very possible that signings like Acerbi don’t work, they often don’t. I didn’t even say inter would become trash or anything, I said they’d have to start a new cycle and get costs down. That’s a fact.

Idk where you got 5 years from. Just two years ago they had the leagues best squad with one of the worlds highest paid and notable managers. He walked away for a reason, and they sold Lukaku for a reason. Their team is objectively worse than it was then, it’s impossible to argue otherwise. Their financial situation has already made them worse. If you wanted to argue that it was an exaggeration to say inter would implode, then sure I’d agree with that. But they have definitely had their financial trouble affect the team. It would be “stupid” to say it hasn’t. We’re talking about a team that finished a couple points higher in the table and literally beat us to make the major final they are in. That’s a pretty marginal difference in quality. These guys aren’t 20 points above us for a reason.
I would argue that our project in the last few years has started to yield the same sporting results as Inter’s. More or less. Milan and Inter have won a Scudetto each, and both have made a deep run in the CL this year. I don’t really care all that much about the Coppa Italia, so if you consider that Inter have shown a superior domestic tournament pedigree. In the league, we have had the better H2H on them over the last 3 seasons. Just about.

The difference is we have done it with our finances in decent shape and our revenues growing faster than all—as someone posted above.

I think Suning will likely default on their loan, but Inter won’t go bust. That part is wishful thinking. They find themselves in a similar position to where we were with Yonghong Li. However, the difference is their ownership problems started much later, and ours were there from the outset. Their sporting results have been good; ours were bad under Li. This has allowed them a bit of respite in the media.

But the loan and its exorbitant interest remains. I would never want to trade places with them in terms of project.

Now, if they were to fluke a win on Saturday, that would drastically change this evaluation. Fine margins and all that… :)

There it is -

so question - do you think Paqueta would be successful at Milan now?
- citing him playing for a poor Brazil NT and a squad in the lowest of European competitions shows how far you always reach to make the case for your perspective
