Especially given the fact that he’s not even playing in his natural position but you wouldn’t know since he’s quality anywhere in midfield. He was a 10 at Cagliari.

Id say Barella is world class. Tonali is not there yet. Their game is also quite different, imo Barella is much better in attack.

But I do think Tonali has a few extra levels he can get to.

Barella's 20/21 Serie a season under Conte had him finishing with a 3G/7A and a 6.95 whoscored rating.
21/22 season finished with 3G/12A and 7.13 rating, his best yet.
This season he also has better numbers than during the time with Conte.

UCL numbers paint a similar picture but Conte chokes so that's beside the point.

He's still relatively young and I'm not discussing his personal attributes (Tonali better 100%), can't argue against the numbers when comparing it to previous seasons.

I was thinking about this in the first half. Barella is world class. The best Italian midfielder since Pirlo. As long as he’s at inter, they’ll have some kind of quality in their squad. Bastoni is a world beater as well. Tonali couldn’t lace barella’s boots.
