For me, €40 million was the best-case scenario right from the start. Every euro more is like a miracle.
Brother, 40m from the get go?

If we had Tare, and Leao didn't do his childish interviews, a 60m was entirely feasible, especially after he had viable contribution to Portugal's NT and using Mendes' connections

I don't think his lazyness has a great outreach outside of inner Milan Fandom, and Leao's social media engagement and aura is an important factor when assessing a transfer in today's football

So if we sell Leao now for 35 million, then by your logic he was a flop. And if City now receive a higher transfer fee for Reijnders or Trafford, then those were successful transfers.

A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion, while not recognizing or acknowledging the distinction.[1] One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man".

35m transfer fee is embarrassing and we should not Kowtow to the Turks who are leveraging the situation and playing the market, but Leao is on crazy wages here compared to his contribution and offloading him in terms of salary should be a factor

Even 35m would release funds to invest in other players in terms of FP&A/FFP amortization

Not sure if haggling over 5m with the Turks for another week or two is worth the hassle

If last season and this isnt the best window to blood a youth player ... when will be the time?

I will admit that they should have a veteran but that person really shouldnt play unless the kid is fully struggling.
Sure then we’d agree. Your last sentence is basically what I was thinking. I want a veteran for depth, not minutes being taken away from Camarda. It’s for insurance, I felt like I indicated I don’t want his chance to be taken from him. I want Kostic to be given a chance as well if they can divvy out the minutes.

The thing that scares me is the thought of of Ramos tearing his ACL and then Camarda shows he’s not quite ready, then we’re in November forced to start him in a crucial stretch of games. We just need an insurance policy. I guess technically that’s Santi, and in all honesty I doubt we’ll be able to move on from him anyway. It’s gonna have to be him probably

Never said you shouldnt joke about inter, just that the level of humor was poor -
Simpletons jumped right to "he must like inter"

Some people like high brow some people like slapstick - whatever.

When there is something to laugh at them about then I will.
If you think this, that it’s “whatever” why did you respond? It was a dumb joke, I knew it was when I wrote it. I was being facetious about inter, like you wrote earlier. You wrote about elegance and a bunch of things that im not sure have anything to do with an easy joke about inter having a lot of players with thinning hairlines. Or do you actually think I choose my favorite teams and players based on what their hair looks like?

If you didn’t like the joke then ignore it? You made it into something more serious than it was

For 35m it even make sense to keep him as second choice LAM or CF. I rather have him as a super sub than just getting 35m
You don't put 6m a season player as a sub, unless he has spited the club hard or are you a PSG/City/Real level team.

Fonseca, Conceicao(?), and Allegri all tried to implement discipline and maturity in Leao by keeping him on the bench, it exploded in all of their faces with the former receiving a water break public incident, and the latter facing a protesting Leao when he got subbed off, in front of the cameras.

Only reason he didn't try that shit in Portugal is because he knows his place there, and CR7 will relegate him from the squad if he did so.

This manchild will not accept any other position than being a superstar, Pioli conditioned him like that and we are reaping the rewards with a <35m 'try and buy' offer from Turkey as the only offer, two years before his contract his up.

Rúben Amorim has identified Matías Soulé and Ethan Nwaneri as his two preferred options for the number 10 position.

The Portuguese coach is still pushing to recruit an offensive midfielder to play behind the striker

( **********)

I do see one or both arriving tbh.

I don’t think so. The Mendes link is consistently overrated. Just think of all those ‘AC Mendes’ reports in June. It was all complete nonsense.

Almost all clubs use portals such as TransferRoom. Among other things, these sites provide an xTV (expected transfer value).

The key factors that go into the calculation:

• TransferRoom Player Rating – the platform’s own performance rating. It is one of several key factors; all other things being equal, a player with a better rating has a higher xTV.

• Age – younger players have greater ‘potential’, are in higher demand and are therefore usually valued higher than older players.

• Contract duration – a shorter remaining contract term reduces the value.

• Parent club / financial status of the selling club – the financial status of the parent club is also very important.

• Comparable historical transfers – benchmarking against similar players.

• Platform-specific data – Algorithms that take into account actual deals involving similar players and also incorporate platform-specific data, enabling xTV to react to market trends in real time.

The metrics are adjusted across competitions. TransferRoom builds conversion models by analysing player performance before and after a transfer between two leagues.

In other words, what we might casually call ‘laziness’ is statistically expressed in terms of pressing actions, successful pressing actions, defensive runs, distance covered and so on. This is taken into account in the calculation of xTV.

xTV is not a definitive figure either, but a range – usually in the region of €10 million. Unfortunate interviews like Leao’s, of course, severely undermine the starting position. ‘Let’s assume’ his range was €38.5 million to €48.5 million; after the interviews, you can hardly hold onto the top end of that range. Then every club sees that demand is low. I think you can put two and two together.

That’s why it’s simply laughable to keep claiming here that we overpaid for Ramos. Not that I don’t think the sum is crazy too, but let’s not pretend there’s no rationale behind it and that it was pure arbitrariness.

I think you understand.

2 friendly matches, 60 minutes played, and I can say that Cissé is a legit baller. His talent is obvious. He is brave, takes on defenders 1-on-1, good ball control and technique, he is tall, strong, and fast. He really reminds me of the 19 years old Leao.

Now that I saw Cissé play, and the Leao situation seems to be solved, I am content with the LAM/RAM situation. On the left side, Cissé and Leao played more as a traditional winger, getting covered by Bart and Estupinan, while on the right, RLC and Nkunku stayed a bit closer to the striker, allowing Chuk and Salad to overlap more.

In LAM, we have Leao and Cissé. Cissé is already good enough to start in Europe League, and be the first sub to Leao in Serie A. In RAM we have Nkunku and Pulisic, and both players are at best when they are close to the striker, playing quick combinations. As 5th choice, we have RLC - a player that we can't get rid of, as nobody is as stupid to buy him, and pay him his high wages. Most likely he will leave on a Bossman next year, to a team like Fulham, on half the wages he is on currently.

For the strikers, we are covered. Ramos is a great CF, our best in a long time. Camarda-Kostic can start as backups. At some point, you need to give talents like this space, and minutes to shine. We can start the season like this, and if both youngsters are struggling, we can course correct in the winter, and sign an adequate backup. Santi obviously needs to go.

Our biggest priority should be LWB, RCM, and CCB.

In LWB, Bart is not a world beater, but servicable. Estupinan is pure fodder, a level below all of his teammates. Even someone like Vladimirov for example looked less out of place in this derby than Estupinan.

In LCM, Jashari played a great game. I believe after his first year with many struggles, he will improve, and be a good backup to Rabiot.

In RCM, Modric is amazing, but at 41 years old, his minutes needs to be managed carefully. Ricci's only good quality is his nationality, that is it. He is a Bertolacci with a hot GF. Fofana and Musah also not good enough. Comotto can stay as a 5th choice midfielder, but we need a new player in this department.

In RWB, we have Salad, Chuk, and Athekame. Amorim seems to be in love with Chuk, which means that Athekame can get the short end of the stick.

In CB, Pavlovic and Gila are strong players, and key starters. Gabbia is a solid reliable player, with high floor, but low ceiling. We should try to get an upgrade here, a player with better technical qualities, who are more suited to Amorim-ball. Tomori is somehow performing worse than even Terracciano, and that says a lot. I have a feeling with him as well that we will not be able to sell the Englishmen. KDW is average, while the 2 youngsters, Odogu and Diawara will most likely leave on loan.

Brother, please refrain from copy pasting AI, as it is uncomfortable to read.

- I didn't say we are a 'Mendes club', I said Mendes' connections. Guy is a top 3 agent in the entire footballing world, and if he wants to move players around, he will. With his push, Leao could go for a value higher than his actual nominal worth.

- Leao is 27, and has two years left on his contract. Check out Trosaard- guy moved to the same Turkish league, inferior team for 25m euros, 31 years of age. Leao's situation is vastly different.

- Obviously us needing to sell Leao in order to finance the market is a horrible situation, which is exactly what the Turks are using. And as I said originally, him giving the interviews was a stupid decision, not only for us but more importantly, for him.

What EPL club would want a player who is publicly interviewing as 'my time at the club is finished', when he has two years left in his contract? Hardly a near-Bosman situation. Leao should've let his agent do the talking, but acted emotionally and not logically. Which is also why, on his day, he is amongst the best and enjoyable wingers to watch.

And generally for his metrics, obviously they doesn't scream '100m signing'. With the advantageos conditions, IMO, 60m is completely in reason with the market which progressively getting more crazy.

I respect this thinking but it’s a big gamble for me. Going into a stretch of tough games for a month with Camarda could easily backfire. He does deserve an opportunity too but we need to manage his confidence and expectations. Fans turn quickly on players. We’ve seen people on here before say that teenagers aren’t good enough for not showing it quickly enough. But yeah there’s also a world where he gets like 7-8 goals and grows a lot, I’ll admit that.
Striker position is the least of my worries atm. G.Ramos is a good starter and I fully believe in Camarda. Then there is also Santi Gimenez.
Maybe when Gimenez leaves they need to pick up an experienced backup striker, but for now those 3 are enough IMO.
We need to give serious minutes to Camarda, he’s an amazing talent, he can only show this by playing.

I’m more worried by our wingbacks and attacking midfield options.

I don’t see how those are the same at all. I was generally commenting how things were getting stale here, clearly you guys feel slighted because I named you three. I thought we had cleared this up, that was just an example because objectively you guys do that. I am on board with you on Leao, I wasn’t trying to say any one clique was better or worse but just that I didn’t like how to me, it seems like sides are forming over polarized issues. It was a vague post just meant that I wish the state of this forum was a little different, and I’ve been here long enough to know it ebbs and flows. There are no doubt other examples I could use, I chose you guys because the Leao stuff is prevalent and I felt like I was reading the same convos every day, and again leaf(and maybe a handful of other posters but let’s be real it’s mostly him) were also a big part of that.

If you felt like I was calling you guys out or trying to slight you, then that’s my bad like I said before. But this is also proving my entire point about getting boxed into things for nothing. I will let Smurf speak for himself but from his comments to me over some time, I have the impression he has identified me as part of the Maldini/Leao cult or something. You and I both know I am not, I will call out criticism that I think is over the top but I have made my position on those pretty clear.

And yeah frankly I find it ridiculous that he tried to lecture me on the right way to make a joke about inter. Come on now. Surely the post I made about inter having bald players wasn’t meant to be serious, so how is it weird I’m taking the angle that he made it more than it is? How is it not? He responded to me something about being fancy on the ball(what did he mean by this?) and how I was implying Milan to be a source of elegance. All because of a light hearted joke about the direct rival of the club we all support. One that didn’t cross a line or was overly offensive, although I could understand a bald person not thinking it was very funny.
