Every pokemon player is worth 30M these days. And then you have Leao where no one is willing to offer more than loan with option for peanuts. I hope that humbles Rafa "I brought Milan back where it belongs and want to try new experiences" Leao a bit.
* Every pokemon player is worth 30M if you are too cool to have competent SD / scouts. :proud:

I checked it out:

Yes—it’s a statistically credible poll, with an important distinction between statistical significance and accuracy.

CBS/YouGov surveyed 1,181 U.S. adults, weighted the sample to match U.S. demographics, and reported a ±4.2 percentage-point margin of error.

If the estimate is about 37% “shoes on”, a rough 95% interval using that stated margin is 32.8%–41.2%. Since the entire interval is below 50%, the result is statistically significant evidence that fewer than half of U.S. adults are “shoes-on” people at home.

But “37% exactly” should not be treated as a known population fact. Sampling error, question wording, weighting, nonresponse, and how respondents interpret “shoes on at home” can all affect the estimate. So a better statement is:

“The poll estimates that roughly one-third of American adults keep their shoes on at home, probably somewhere around the low-to-low-40% range.”
I wear slippers in the house, or even bare-footed for a few steps. Outside 90% of the times sneakers, have 3 pairs of New Balance that are the most comfortable for me.

too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
Luka Modric makes plea for leao to stay at milan

So Leao resta
Perhaps if there is one person who can get through to him it is Modric. If not then it is on Leao.

In the same way with so many players when they fade into obscurity or waste their potential. They only have themselves to blame. When their career comes to an end.

I am getting really pissed off about Amorim always trying to get Portuguese players. Inancio ain’t even that good.

He must be getting a share from this acquisition if it gets approved I feel.
Please don’t get pissed off.
Baresi passed, remember?

There have been three interviews in total I can remember. This is what he said:

May 30 – Sport TV

"I think I've given Milan everything I could give. It's been a club that helped me grow a lot, that supported me in the tough moments. And I'm happy to have managed to write my name in the club's history. Everyone has their dreams, their challenges, the things they desire, the goals they want to reach. And I too want to try a new challenge in a new league."

Asked about his preferred destination, he added:

"Right now, the most important thing is the World Cup and helping the national team in any way I can. When the time comes, I will evaluate the best options to continue my career and keep competing at the highest levels of European football."

June 5 – Sport TV

"I need a new challenge. I have already won two trophies in Italy and I have been there for a while. It is a league that is evolving, but for my style of football the Premier League or La Liga would showcase my talent and me as a player more."

He then specifically talked about England:

"If the opportunity of the Premier League were to come, I would be very happy. I think I would be able to measure my talent against players who are at a very high level. Playing in that type of league really enhances the player."

June 10 – RTP

And then there's the interview Milanator posted where I suspect it was given before the Cagliari game because in the video he's sitting in an empty San Siro (I figure after the Cagliari game he left Milan for the WC and didn't stick around to give interviews):

"I have already achieved what I wanted to achieve with Milan. In football, you can never say never, you never know what the future holds, but if it were to happen, I would leave here very happy, satisfied to have contributed to taking the club where it deserves to be."

---

So no, nothing was "twisted" here. Those were his own words, across three different interviews given in the span of 10 days, broadcasting his wish to test himself in England or Spain because he needs a new challenge. Nobody put those words in his mouth and nobody needed to manufacture some narrative around them. Once might be an unfortunate choice of words. Three separate interviews repeating essentially the same message isn't.
Well he never said
"I brought Milan back where it belongs and want to try new experiences"

Everyone is aware that he put his wish to leave in the media, but never did he say that he alone brought Milan back to the top.

This would also be very out of character for him since he is a team player.

The issue seems to be that he still has 18.5M book value, that's why we kept asking for those 18M while Villa kept offering 15M. Registering a minusvalenza wouldn't have helped us at all signing new players – en contraire. At this point, you can just as good keep him for a little longer and hope someone else will pay the price that avoids a minusvalenza.

Other than Fik (who I'm ok with selling but I think could still have a good role with us), at least this verifies that Amorim can actually assess players well. Too many times have managers come in saying how good RLC. Fofana too, what a symbol of our decline since the Scudetto. Totally useless player.

Hopefully we can actually sell these players for decent fees.

Well he never said

Everyone is aware that he put his wish to leave in the media, but never did he say that he alone brought Milan back to the top.

This would also be very out of character for him since he is a team player.

Well, that was me paraphrasing from the top of my head what he said across three different interviews. It doesn't really change much. The words are there, I posted them with the sources and everyone is free to read the interviews and make up their own mind.

My point wasn't about making him a villain for what he said anyway. It was about expressing my hope that he's been humbled a bit by a summer in which every half-known Pokémon player seems to move for 30-40M, while apparently nobody is even willing to offer that for him except maybe two Turkish clubs and the usual Saudi suspects.

Going by his own words, his goals and his assists, Leao maybe thinks he's done enough in his career to warrant the status of a genuine top player. You yourself called him a top 5 winger in the world on his day, IIRC? Well, it turns out there's embarrassingly little market for one of the supposedly best wingers in the world after he quite clearly put himself on the market on top of that. What does that tell us?

My issue with Leao has never been his potential. God knows his ceiling looked sky-high when he was younger and he genuinely could have had a special career. But that time is over. He's not a prospect anymore. And five years later, he's still essentially the same player – arguably even a more regressed version of him.

Yes, those moments of brilliance will still produce goals and assists. They'll show up on the stat sheet and make him look like an outstanding winger. But football isn't played on a stat sheet. Over 90 minutes he's simply too inconsistent, and outside those flashes of brilliance he too often contributes far too little to the team.

In modern football, that simply doesn't cut it anymore. There are maybe a handful of players on the planet who are so outrageously decisive that a team can afford to carry them for large stretches of a game. And even one of those was eventually allowed to leave for Madrid – only for his former club to go and win the CL back-to-back without him.

Exactly.

We waste too much time on everything. He took him too long to realise how much fodder we have. 2/3 of the squad is garbage.
