Has he tried Musah at RWB even once this preseason?
I've always thought Musah is better on the right side of a midfield partnership, where his role is ball retrieval and retention... Can he be transformed into a WB? I don't know, but I've advocated for him to be a vice Salad, in the absence of a new player to challenge Salad.

Otherwise it's another season where Salad wilts by Christmas.

The calendar is different in the MLS. He alreqdy had the vacation between season. They are in the middle of their season there..same goes for Paredes who plays in Argentina etc

Several "sources" stating that...

AC Milan already have an agreement with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Milan’s management is waiting to sell surplus players in the squad before attempting to proceed with Marseille, who have the urgency to sell.

#opportunity?
A DM with 9 goals contribution last season & 7 the season before is nice.
Anyone knows more about him?

Getting quality wingbacks seems a key to a succesful season beacuse they are key positions in Amorim's tactics. And he is not tactically flexible coach - he proved in MU how stubborn he can be. Any news in that direction? Or Salemakers and Chukwueze are good enough?

Great interview by Maldini. He explains himself very well, as usual.

But he still should have stayed and fought his ideas through.

He is a stubborn alpha male.
Running away from challenges is very beta

Yeah, Maldini asked who choses the coach ? Malago replied it's you, then get back and betrayed his words.
Maldini: Who chooses the coach?

Malagò: You.

Maldini: Cool. Imma hit up Ancelotti. If not, Pep.

Malagò: Cool beans!

Maldini: Both said 'no'. Now Imma go Pirlo.

Malagò: WTF?

Maldini: Problem?

The Athekame deal has confirmed one thing - this time they don't play around with negotiations and everything is kept tight. Information only released when deals are done. Same thing happened with Ramos and, to some extent, Gila.

And this means something again - there's probably incoming deals already on the table and would only be confirmed/closed at the "right time".

Sounds like there's about to be a cascade of movement on the market.

Low expectations.

The Instagram detectives reporting :D

See, the unfollow is more significant than the club in bio removal. The latter happens more often I am told but the former is real shit.

Goodbye sweet Fofa, I knew thee well. :(

My expectation is we will offload in some form 4 players. There will also be one more marquee (ish) signing in a key department. The rest will be cheap gambles.

Obviously, there are a few weeks left and many moves can happen; however, it just seems like another season of trying to jam a bunch of square pegs into a round hole. This lame ass 3421 would be one thing if we had the players to run it but we don’t.

I’m sooooooooooooooo weary of a manager that needs all the right players to run his system. The better managers can adapt, Amorim has us trying to play Chuk and Musah as RWBs.

Fucking kill me.
We're so incredibly fucking screwed

It's hard not to see the humour in it though

Imagine valuing the likes of Estupiñan and Chuck. .... Meanwhile we are sending Athekhame and Cisse are going out on loan

Maddening

Ok the first point regarding the veracity of his story:

Sure, you don't have to believe him. That's a question for everyone who's interested to decide. I'm inclined to believe him personally. You think he'd lie about what transpired in a story of national significance? This could turn into a huge scandal if so. I take Maldini's reputation and word any day over Malagò (who even claims Mancini is not his friend). Looking further back, Gerry too, what a trustworthy and upstanding owner we have. Sure, let's take his side over Maldini's any day.

Did Maldini say the split wasn't consensual? Sounds like Malagò just left out a ton of details that don't make him look bad. Why else would Maldini quit? Like I said at some point when it happened, the trust was broken and the relationship became untenable.

Maybe he should be airing out the dirty laundry anyways. Isn't Italian football a total disaster? Sounds like he was trying to make change and the old guard came in to revert everything back. At least people in Italy who care about football deserve to know this. Who cares about working relationships in this context. The issue is more important than a working relationship with the Malagò.

Whether you think his interviews post-Milan were appropriate at all is another story, but in this case he seems totally justified.

I think you're arguing against a point I'm not really making. I'm actually inclined to believe Maldini too. I literally said I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't need to believe Malagò, Cardinale or anyone else instead in order to question Maldini's way of handling these situations tho.

And no, Malagò didn't say the split wasn't consensual. Quite the opposite. He called it consensual, said they had a calm conversation and openly took responsibility for the decision that ultimately led to the split. That doesn't mean he told us every detail or that Maldini was wrong to walk away. Hell chances are Maldini's version is 100% accurate and Malagò completely fucked it up (while for the sake of your argument I'm simply gonna ignore Maldinis back-up plan for Guardiola was freaking Pirlo paired with De Rossi and Grosso!!). But that's not my point.

My point is what happens afterwards.

You say "who cares about working relationships in this context", but for an SD or TD I actually care quite a lot. Managing relationships, disagreements and compromises with owners, coaches, agents, players and other executives is a pretty fundamental part of that job. You won't always get the autonomy you were promised, you won't always get your first choice and people above you will sometimes make decisions you strongly disagree with. If every fundamental disagreement ends with you walking away and then explaining publicly who fucked you over, I think it's fair to wonder whether compromise is one of your strengths.

And yes, Italian football desperately needs change. Maybe Maldini was absolutely right about the direction he wanted to take. But wanting change doesn't automatically make your way of handling conflict beyond criticism, does it.

That's really all I'm saying. This isn't "Malagò good, Maldini bad" any more than my criticism of his Milan exit was "Cardinale good, Maldini bad". I can think Malagò is a dinosaur, Cardinale handled Maldini's dismissal disgracefully and still think Maldini himself has a tendency to burn bridges when working relationships break down. Those things can all be true at the same time. Why is this so difficult to understand, let alone accept?

Cant blame those italian youngsters, they get more chances abroad than in their own country. Its probably a good thing for the Italian national team.

Italy? Just look at how people even in this forum reacted to Comotto's and Camarda's performances yesterday.

If you want Italian youngsters to explode, you have to give them the chance to fail. And then fail again. And then fail once more. That's how development works. You give them minutes, you let them make mistakes and you keep playing them until eventually they figure it out.

The vast majority in here seems to rate youngsters as if they're either Yamal straight out of the academy or simply not ready. If they aren't tearing Serie A apart at 17 or 18, apparently they need to be shipped off to Serie C or Serie B until they're 22. And if we do keep them? Better buy two "proven players" of the highest calibre for their position just to make absolutely sure they never get enough minutes to actually develop.

Then a few years later everyone wonders why Italy doesn't produce enough top-level talent anymore.

On the other hand, Abate will hopefully take good care of him. I'd prefer to give him meaningful minutes with us tho. Physically Nkunku and Pulisic are not reliable and there will be many games to be played this season.

Is this after their La decima

Damn.
We fucked around when the prices were still affordable, we easily could have afforded Modric during that period but we were focused on Italian Milan and now there’s an yuge gap and inflation :fp:

Porto, agreement in principle with Gimenez: intermediaries at work with @acmilan to try to close the deal. The Rossoneri are asking for an obligation to buy.

Porto was always dicks to us when they had any remotely hyped players we wanted. I remember we wanted a Mexican RW from them and they wanted 15m we offered 12.5m with him on his last year, then they sold him for 3.5m in January

I rather us keep Santi as backup than do favors for them

Interesting that they extended Maignan and Rabiot’s vacation an extra 4 days. May they sell them both as well?

Athekame first outing.

Cissè towards a straight loan to Toro.

Now working on the next ones: Gimenez-Porto, Fofana ligue1 or Premier and Estupinan.
