AC Milan has already informed Youssouf Fofana to find himself an exit solution. The French midfielder is out of the project, awaiting to resolve his future.

Right… After chasing him during the whole 2024 summer. 2 years later we are desperate to offload him. This same summer Kone was available for the same amount. This stupid team just never stop delivering.

MN on Maignan and Rabiot:

During Milan's week of cuts, the captain shows disrespect to his teammates, coach and fans

It is not the four extra days of vacation as a situation in itself, but the four extra days of vacation as yet another gesture of indifference that make this latest episode so depressing – another situation that shows how the divide between Milan's players and those who genuinely care about the Rossoneri has now become irreparable.

The story is always the same and has been going on for years: Milan's players feel like they have already made it and are entitled to do whatever they want without consequences. This attitude has produced some frankly unacceptable episodes, from the cooling-break incident to the argument between coach and captain on the pitch after Milan-Parma, all the way to the current captain being the last player to return to his club among all those who took part in last month's World Cup. We were talking about that divide. On one side there is a fanbase whose pride has been deeply wounded, but which continues to love its team. Even when protesting fiercely, it never stops supporting those who step onto the pitch.

On the other side are players who, judging by their words, are the best in the world. Superstars of Instagram posts and pre-match declarations – because after matches they disappear, leaving the talking to the same few players who at least have the dignity to show their faces. When the moment comes for actions, substance and results, they evaporate like snow under the August sun.

Milan are coming off an eighth-place finish and a fifth-place finish. Two terrible seasons from a sporting perspective for different reasons, but both ended with fierce protests against the management, the ownership and the players themselves. Many grains of sand make a desert. Many behaviours, small gestures and failures to meet certain standards perfectly explain why Milan find themselves in this situation. Everything imaginable has already been said about the owner and management – rightly so. The players, meanwhile, have always been protected like poor defenceless souls who need shielding from supposedly excessive and unfair criticism.

In football, only two things matter: facts and what happens on the pitch.

The pitch tells the story of an embarrassing Milan, outside the Champions League for two consecutive years in a Serie A whose overall level continues to decline. And the facts show that most of those wearing the Rossoneri shirt simply do not care about what happens around them. It is just a job. It begins when they walk through the gates of Milanello and ends when they walk back out again.

So far we have barely mentioned Rabiot, but that does not mean he should be excluded from these considerations. He simply has the "fortune" of being alongside the man wearing the captain's armband once worn by Baresi, Maldini, Ambrosini and many others. It would be madness to compare even for a second the human and professional stature of today's players with the legends of the past. But the Milan captain's armband – especially in these days when the entire football world is mourning the loss of a giant like Franco Baresi – comes with standards that must be respected.

Maignan meets none of them, least of all with this latest careless decision to postpone his return. There is a new coach to get to know and a team to lead in search of the sporting redemption that has been missing for far too long. The captain's response? He asks for – and receives – additional days of vacation. Comparisons are always unpleasant, but on the other side of the Naviglio, Lautaro returned to training yesterday at Appiano Gentile. Thuram, who is French, and Stones, who is English, followed him back. Nobody is absurdly demanding that footballers should never switch off or go on vacation.

There is, however, a difference between someone who behaves like a captain and leads by example and someone who wears the armband only for the photographers and empty talk. The facts – the concrete ones that actually matter – are there for everyone to see. The players currently wearing the Milan shirt seem to believe they have entered the club's history because of one Scudetto and half a Supercoppa. They have indeed entered history – but for the wrong reasons.

It is important that they understand that this will be remembered as an extremely dark and negative period in Rossoneri history, and they will be remembered as some of its negative protagonists. Amorim had announced that this would be the week of the cuts, and we have already seen the first signs of movement on the way out. We have also seen exactly how much consideration Milan's captain has for his club, his teammates, his coach and his supporters.

Hate to break tit to you guys but RLC isn’t some gem in training convincing managers

He’s just shit, doesn’t have a robust market, and will never touch a club like this again in his career so is staying and the manager is coping

Throw the likes of Tomori in that category too

No matter which way you cut it, what Maignan and Rabiot did is unacceptable. Attributing everything to “that’s the club’s fault” is ridiculous. Players have to take accountability as well. I can already see the “how did we treat Maignan during the contract renewal saga?” argument taking shape. I don’t really have high hopes for either though in terms of conduct. Contrast theirs with Modric or Pulisic or Fik or whomever. Garbage behaviour.

When Calvelli accepted the CEO position at Milan I expected to hear more from him but he has been silent along with Almsted and Gardiner. Scaroni is a fool that has little influence in the club so we have nobody to speak on behalf of Milan except the coach.

In this situation we have no influence nor respect within the confines of the league and lack a spokeperson to face the media. Ibra was the opposite, although not a Milan employee loved to be our voice but did it mostly to stroke his own ego.

Marotta and Ausilio have no such problems and often stop for impromptu interviews, as do Manna at Napoli, Carnevali at Juve, and many others. It's probably not a big deal but it contributes to the negative view the media has of us. Public image counts for something and ours was very positive under Berlusconi and Galliani that didn't avoid the press.

Right, the season starts next week. No new arrivals, but we loan out a few and have a squad of 25...

What's our best 11 and where do we place come seasons end?

Would not be surprised if he's waiting for us. Not convinced by him tbh, very defensive profile, would he be useful?
I think he would. We play with double pivot, he would do a lot of dirty work in front of the defence, helping both the wing backs and attacking mids. I'm not really sold to Modric-Rabiot double pivot, in any case in some situations we could even move Rabiot to RAM and do a double pivot with Modric-Hojbjerg, so it opens different solutions without paying too much.

Seeing that Ousmane Diomande is moving from Sporting to Nottingham Forest for 40m. Surprised it wasn't more.

Thought that would have been ideal to reunite him with Amorim. Generally ideal to have a talented young CB

for Cisse's growth, it's better for him to go somewhere where he can get more minutes that he'll get at Milan. at Torino, he may get 3x the mins he'd get here. I think that's more important for his growth that staying at Milan at this stage of career.. the same applies to Camarda & Comotto & even Toriani. They won't grow sitting on the bench here.

Keeping RLC instead is another issue in it's own, he should be offloaded in all cases, regardless of what happens with Cisse
The problem is, we continue to shove young talent away in favor of mediocre veterans that are highly limited.

A player like Cisse should in theory be able to serve as a top backup, and see significant minutes in this system. Think of who will be getting minutes instead- there is no player who will obviously be better than him. There is also only an extremely small chance any of those players exceed expectations, they are known qualities, and their upside is small.

Playing Cisse on the other hand provides upside- he does actually have the chance to significantly exceed expectations and to grow into a player that can elevate the team. Sure there are likely to be bumps and bruises along the way, but I’d rather see them come from a talented young player instead of a 30 year old who offers very little.

There is a reason that Liberali decided to reject us for Como’s project…

With this all being said, the one saving grace here is that I trust Abate a great deal, and playing for him is a positive imo

It's pretty clear that Milan doesn't have many players that are adept or experienced in Amorim's system. In this scenario the coach either changes formations or asks for players that suit his way of playing.

To be effective we need fast players with great stamina for constant pressing, also quick passes and not lingering on the ball that gives defenses time to set up. Keep possession, be more vertical, and move well without the ball.

Good ball playing CBs that can initiate the play that leads to the offense, and a compact mid that can handle the middle of the pitch while the wing-backs take care of the edges. How many players do we have with those characteristics? Against Chelsea we looked exhausted after 30 minutes so our fitness needs improving.

These are all question marks two weeks before the season starts for me, while awaiting our next moves in the transfer market. Adaptabilty is a key component of the degree of success we might achieve and I expect our next training sessions will be focused on that. As someone said, you can't fit a square peg in a round hole so we'll see how it all works out and hoping for the best.

What a shocker!!!! Amorim should have just come in here a month ago. He then could have made these decisions based on R&B's popular opinion. What did they expect? Players like Terracciano to all of a sudden become pillars for a club that wants to fight for a title, when he could barely cut it at relegation sides?
