It's time people came to terms with the fact that if we want to buy high quality players that top EPL teams are interested in, these are the kind of prices involved. We're seeing players like Elliot Anderson move for more than 100m.
These days 20 - 30 million buys you cack like Ricci, Gimenez and Estupinian. Personally, I'm glad Milan are paying big team prices for big team players. Not doing so is how we ended up with such a weak squad.
Do top clubs from German/Portuguese/La Liga pay 20-30m for players and get Estupinan level?
Who outside of Madrid/Barca/PSG even pays 100m EPL prices for transfers?
EPL is a superleague of its own, and the prices cannot conflate with the rest of European football. ESPECIALLY if you're an English player.
20-30m definitely do not get you a Ricci/Estupinian only, that just stems from agent favourism/bad financial evaluation. It
could get you those players, but it doesn't have to.
Gimenez is a CF, and that's his own market, does not equate to other positions.
Did we buy 'estupinian' level players during Elliot's early period? Theo, Leao, Mike, Tonali. Tonali was 17m, lol. Reindeer was a classic 20m purchase and ran over the league two seasons later (thank you Padre).
Gerry, despite splurging this summer (which is welcome), has overpaid for Ramos. With lengthier negotiations, we could've lowered it by 20m. Is the swiftness better or not, will be tested with Ramos's integration into the squad.
With Gerald wanting to take matters into his own hands, he's obviously not as experienced as a veteran SD, trusts his 'consortium' instead. I don't care as it's his own money, but that also means that the purchases of this club are overinflated in terms of proper transfer fee assessment.
