Agreed - how many goals would you expect from Kessie though, 5 - 8 or more?
- his passing / decision-making in the final third is underrated
It depends on the rest of the team and how much influence he gets in the final third.
If we had a bunch of dependable goalscorers elsewhere then even 4 goals could be fine. But we don't, and Kessie & Bennacer aren't able to compensate one bit.
I like how unbiased he is when he runs into the final third with the ball at his feet. He seems to be the only one spotting Hauge's runs, and passing to whoever is in a good position regardless of that player's status in the team.
His attempts at quick 1-2s just outside the box tend to fail miserably though.
Inside the box he seems to adapt the movement and extreme selfishness of a goal-machine, but no end product to match it. It's a terrible combination that has wasted a lot of attacks. The 4-2-3-1 and reduced final third influence saved him from a loan spell in West Ham.
If/when the team switches back to 3 man midfield I expect a lot of commoders cursing the management for giving him 5m net.
