Just wondered if there were any plans for a change in format or style for the forum? I've just noticed other forums change and wondered if we would follow?

What about a section just for transfer news/speculation? Seems the discussion forum is swamped with "my mate told me that Milan wanted to buy Zidane. What do you think? " type posts.

i agree. i was not a fan of a transfer forum before but i think it might be useful now when we grew in numbers. but the question is what are we going to talk about in the discussion forum then? not much left for it if we take away the transfers...
what about 'Discussions & Transfers' ?

anyone else got an idea?

I have no worries that they'll be nothing to talk about in the Discussions section without transfer talk.

At the moment I use the "Mark as read" option so much in there at the moment. But there are people who love to speculate about buing new players and for that alone it probably deserves a section for it. At the moment we're just getting a load of new threads that don't last long. As new threads are opening up we're losing some good topics that get relegated to the second and third pages and so newcomers tend to miss them and cannot join in with their view.

:conf: The likes of Mookyrookie can't even handle the current number of forums + you wanna add another one ? :head:

Transfer talk has always been part of 'Discussions' + I don't see any need to create a separate forum as it will not eliminate the off-topics, wrongly placed msgs etc. but only spread them out by providing yet another platform. Those not interested in the rumours + debates can easily skip those threads.

As for losing good topics that get relegated to page 2, this is inevitable no matter how many new forums you create. However, newbies really interested in participating in the discussions sure won't be deterred by the one mouseclick that will take them to page 2 (or 3 or 15).......... ;)

I just think it's a big enough topic to warrant its own forum. It works very well in other fan forums and makes it neater., so whether its always been part of Discussions here isn't much of an argument. Hence I've entered this in a suggestions thread.

I would suggest logically that what makes for topic in the Players section would go under the title Discussions. If we talk about Milan that's the club, president, coach, players all other personnel etc

Frequently, the first couple of posts about a transfer rumour deal with his suitability to Milan and then they just turn into biogs and updates on that players progress. It strays away from Milan totally.

I'm not familiar with the format of the forum as in whether a new forum can be added or whether you would have to subsitute one for the other. If the latter is true then I'm suggesting Transfer talk for Players.

I agree.

But with the recent epidemic of repeat threads that we've seen, some members don't seem to even bother... Or are too lazy.

Frankly, I don't know what's so hard about a little bitty mousclick to another page to check if the thread already exists. :head:

Personnaly, I wouldn't.

I would use the Matches & Tactics forum strickly for the matches and the other topics currently used would go in Discussions.

I don't really know if I'm up for a "sticky" transfer thread but one thing I'd suggest to *clean the mess* is to perhaps forbid the "I heard" or"my friend told me" types of transfer rumours.

I mean, one of the rules of this forum is to post the sources of these rumours.

I might even also suggest to forbid rumours from crap sites such as Tribalfootball, or even Soccerage [sorry if I offend anyone about this site].

And one suggestion, which has nothing to do with what to do with the topics, would be to delete the locked topics which have no use anymore.

Perhaps the moved ones as well but I don't know if doing that deletes the moved topics in their proper forums too.

well i created a topic called latest transfer roumor's so every latest roumor can be posted and not open a new topic about every roumor that you hear . so i think that a topic about latest transfer roumors should be opened and every other topic opened about a roumor should be closed or delete. and not only about transfer but everything moderator's should try to do this to create topic's in wich you can disccuss only for one thing and not open new one with the same meaning just different topic. and one thing i would ask from site admin's or mod if you could close or delete all these games like continent game, thinking chain etc., they suck.

i agree with mad4milan. i spoke with david and we provisionally (!)agreed to make the transfers forum, leave matches and tactics (as it's called now) for matches only and stick tactics under discussions. the players forums stays in tact. this forum (Q, S & A) might get a slight transformation. furthermore, i'm in favour of a support forum of some sort, but it's not known yet if that will materialise. of course, as i emphasised before, it's only a provisional decision and is subject to change :o

And one suggestion, which has nothing to do with what to do with the topics, would be to delete the locked topics which have no use anymore.

Perhaps the moved ones as well but I don't know if doing that deletes the moved topics in their proper forums too.

i was actually trying to persuade the mods not to leave a 'copy' if a moved topic in its original decision but... well, some of them prefer to leave it so they don't have to bother explaining to people what happened with the topic. but, yes, the moved copy can be deleted without affecting the topic itself. i do that sometimes.

when it comes to the locked topics, i personally prefer to leave them so people know what happened to it. otherwise, they would probably thing there was an error in the code and post it again. but it's up to the mods how they run their forum.

But with the recent epidemic of repeat threads that we've seen, some members don't seem to even bother... Or are too lazy.

i agree mate. it's pissing me off and i'm sure the rest of you as well. some people even post a repeated thread right next to the one that already exists :conf:

and one thing i would ask from site admin's or mod if you could close or delete all these games like continent game, thinking chain etc., they suck.

yup. it's gonna be done. we'll probably do the same thing as with the original thinking chain. close it off and start a new one if people still want to play. and so on...

I agree with you that those chat-like game are nothing but post # boosters, space & bandwidth wasters and something will be done regarding them.

We're thinking of a new forum structure. Sometimes this week we'll close the forum for half an hour to change it. Most likely the new structure will look like [may suffer slight modifications compared to the one below]:

Rules [<a locked forum with the rules in it>]
Announcements [<only mods & admins will be allowed to post announcements, obviously>]
Feedback/Support

Discussions [<with tactics in it>]
Matches
Players
Transfers
Tutto In Italiano

Football
Introductions
Off Topic

SAPL
Totocalcio

This should remove some of the clutter.

Regards,
David

Suggestion: Rules + Announcements combined in one forum (why afford the luxury of having 2 separate ones which nobody bothers to read anyway... ;))

Would the Feedback/Support Forum be restricted to forum-related issues + mod/admin <-> user interaction or would it be open to post all kinds of Milan/football-related questions/requests, kind of like user asks/user answers... ?

Will the Transfer Forum contain ALL transfer talk or will we see only Milan-related stuff in there while everything else still has to be posted in the Football Forum ?

#1 We'll think of that.

#2 Only forum related issues.

#3 Only Milan related stuff. If you take a careful look, our forums are currently grouped in three categories:
AC Milan - http://forum.acmilan-online.com/index.php?c=2
Community - http://forum.acmilan-online.com/index.php?c=1
Prediction Games - http://forum.acmilan-online.com/index.php?c=3
Obviously the Transfers forum will fall under the "AC Milan" category and thus it will be restricted only to issues concerning AC Milan.

I was quite sceptic about the idea to make changes + esp. add another forum but the new layout does look more than OK.

Looks nice, good job. I had to adjust a little here n there

But I think the AC Milan forum should be top, followed by Other, and then Community. And ofcourse at the end Prediction Games.

Easier to overlook things, we also had this before it changed right.
