Couldn't think of an existing thread in which to put this, so I started a new one.
Superstars Assemble For Mandela Tribute
Clarence Seedorf, Gigi Buffon, Steven Gerrard, and Fabio Cannavaro are just a handful of the world’s superstars who will play in a prestigious charity match this Saturday to commemorate political legend Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.
The former South African President, who fought to abolish apartheid in his homeland, will turn 90 on July 18. A special match has been organised this Saturday (July 12) in Germany at Munich’s Allianz Arena between two all-star XI’s to honour this landmark, and to raise money for education in Africa.
The game will kick off the beginning of the worldwide fundraising campaign Goal4Africa, where people pledge to donate money for every goal scored by their favourite team over the course of the next two years.
Milan star Clarence Seedorf is the global ambassador for Goal4Africa, and helped to ensure that many of the world’s biggest stars will be playing.
Rino Gattuso, Gigi Buffon, Emmanuel Adebayor, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Fabio Cannavaro are just a handful of those who will take part in the symbolic match. In total there will be 40 of the top footballers in the world in Munich.
