Well considering he was shite for more than half of his time here and only good for the months directly after Covid, it was not the simple decision you make it seem.

Why? We've set the precedent that €3.5m players shouldn't earn €5m + €1m in bonuses. Or €5m players shouldn't earn €9m/yr. Perhaps under a different ownership we can shell out €9m/yr to Vidal, €6m to Hakan, €7m to Rabiot and €7.5m to Alexis Sanchez, but for now we're doing the opposite and the result of that is our sustainable business model under Elliott.
