offensively i felt that all of the chances we've created were a result of counter attacks... we will not be getting this much space in 95% of our games...we will need to create chances against teams that sit back and i don't think we've managed to do that in today's game.. i liked saelemaekers performance today

surprised to see you lot praising ricci but really he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary in the last two games... like what was it that impressed you? his short range passing? his dribbling? his defensive contribution? what was it?.. as of yet, he hasn't shown anything promising tbh

I agree on Ricci to an extent. He doesn't seem extraordinarily gifted in his passing, and not overly progressive either.

But I figure there is some well-earned appreciation for him being a stabiliser. He works hard defensively and positions himself well, recycles possession. Seldom makes errors. This is, weirdly enough, something we have been missing for some time. We have a strange tendency to make random blunders and to overcomplicate ball movement in early build up phases.

His positioning impressed me the most. I could care less about everything. Seems to read the game well.

Ricci is the signing we needed, not the signing we wanted. He's not going to entertain us but he will be a large part of winning games. His positioning and IQ to move on the ball is key in a side where Musah last season would rather try to dribble 3 players and lose the ball and be in attack when were getting pounded on a counter.. Will not be something you'll catch Ricci doing, and for me that is worth its weight in gold. He will be one of Allegri's golden boys, but maybe not ours

It's the same as it was at Fonseca's last preseason..lots of heads, free zones, sweeping spring attacks.beautiful goals..
