From January to July 2025, the Italo faction here on the forum regularly told me what a good player Ricci is.

Well, in any case, one thing’s for sure: Amorim’s style will take quite a while to develop and is more complicated to implement than Allegri’s nonsense.

As for Gabbia and Pavlovic, there are serious doubts as to whether the style isn’t too technically demanding for them.

Seriously can't be expecting anything with this being the first game of the pre-season and the line up. Just watch the kids (Comotto, Torriani, Cisse, Athekame, Kostic) and that's it.

Torriani already looks jittery. Comotto looks okay, Kostic isolated but trying to hold his own. Don't know the other guy.

The build up and press is ok so far. The main issues are at the back once our CBs are pressed and the lack of danger we generate when we get near the opponents box..

Gabbia makes me want to rip my own hair out when in possession. He recieves the ball in settled posession and doesnt understand a simple concept of not switching the play from the overloaded side to the underloaded side. He'd receive the ball from pavlovic and then play a sideways pass to tomori when only tomori and athekame are on that side when both ossola and loftus cheek have shifted left. Every time he does this, Celtic uses it as a trigger to press and push us all the way back to the goalkeeper. Just simply playing a pass back to the left side and we keep the ball. It is basic football sense, of which he has none.

If you are going to switch the play you need to go long directly to the wingback in order to give them a chance at a 1 v 1 and getting the ball into the box. Even if you lose the ball when switching like this, the team has enough time to get shifted and back in position.

He cannot be a starter for this team to be of a decent level.I think Tomori is rubbish as well, but even he is less detrimental to our in possession game. Pavlovic's passing range leaves something to be desired, and his method of advancing the ball is through ball carrying, of which an Amorim team does not tend to utilize as a method of advancing forward. Gila plus at least 1 more player is needed for this back 3 to look somewhat functional on the ball in my opinion.

Celtic are head in physical preparation, Ricci not a great performance, but he made long accurate passes and technically above Musah and Jashaari, I'm not backing up, but dude Musah Jashaari and RLC who can't make a single effort to defend.

I'm watching in Arabic, a stream that I found on YouTube, but we've been awful all over. Comotto is the only midfielder that looks decent, Fofana invisible, Loftus-Cheek and Ricci too many mistakes. Our attack is inexistent and too many back-passes. We are pressing but not good enough.

I know it's too early so can't make any conclusions but we need to get rid of lots of fodders. I was wrong about Ricci, thought he was good at Torino but great disappointment with us. Hopefully the second half crew can do better.
