I too would prefer a 3 Striker rotation, but if Amorim thinks 2 dynamic forwards is enough for his setup, well... he's the coach.

I too would prefer a 3 Striker rotation, but if Amorim thinks 2 dynamic forwards is enough for his setup, well... he's the coach.

If having 2 was the plan all along, I'd hope we're strengthening the SS/CAM spots, with someone that can potentially cover a more advanced space.

All I'm saying is no one should really care if Santi stays or goes. But if he goes, it is another hole.

Shevchenko’s sale annoyed me. It was a mistake to move to Chelsea as he wasn’t wanted by Mourinho and several Chelsea players made it clear they didn’t want him there. The definition of a bad move.

The days of “hidden gems” are largely over. Every club has a deep and extensive scouting network.

If you want an A grade talent, you can be sure that the big English and spanish clubs are on him, as well as Bayern and PSG.

There are exceptions but largely this is the case

20-30m gets you players with obvious flaws - behavior issues like Theo, legal disputes like Leao, players who just lack overall quality to play at the highest level (Tonali), ones with some obvious holes in their game/small body of work (Reijnders), or injury prone players (Pulisic).

To me the issue is one we’ve seen time and again- the scouts like a player, it’s declared they’re not Milan quality, then they have a breakout season and they’re no longer affordable.

We’ve been linked to tons of promising players over the years that have ended up in this situation.

Just one example that comes to mind is Maldini wanted to sign Calafiori, instead he went to Bologna for 4 million, and then exploded.

So I think the true issue is that if you want a gem, you need to buy it before it’s polished, otherwise the cost goes through the roof.
