I don't know why bruhs don't rate SMS here...his defensive stats are identical to Kessie's last season and he averages 18 Serie A goal contributions a season over the past 3 years from central midfield (no pens).

He would be an ENORMOUS upgrade on what we have currently and those goals would've made us a Scudetto contender.

He'd be a massive upgrade in Seria A, but I think we're boxing clever, and a lot younger this summer.

I don't want to be a spoil sport, I just don't see how it aligns with #daplan?

If the Diaz money goes toward SMS, I'm fucking extatic though lol.

I think it fits with the idea of a young core and then adding some experienced players in to balance things out

29 is young enough that he could have prime years ahead of him, but he's got years of serie A experience so he's more likely to settle in quickly, and I think I remember talk of him wanting to stay in Italy so we may not face too much competition to snap him up (especially if he wants the move)

lots of links with RLC from reputable sources and there was talk in January too, so I think that's a fairly likely transfer

I think that MMM will go down the opposite route this summer i.e. experience over youth as last year we signed a bunch of youngsters who failed to deliver (bar Thiaw) and Pioli refused to play. Therefore, I'd expect management to learn from the CDK > Dybala mistake and focus on Serie A proven experienced players like SMS when given the opportunity. Also, he's worked with Pioli before so would be able to contribute immediately. However, the only sticking point is the potential transfer fee but with 1 year left on his contract, 30-40m seems realistic. Whether RedBird agree to the transfer or not is a different story but given his stellar track record in Italy, he has a far higher chance of succeeding than RLC, Kamada etc.

You gotta give some credit to Roma too tbf, they were alright in the 2000s, making some QFs and eliminating teams like Real and in the 2010s they reached a SF eliminating a great Barcelona team.

They tend to at least make it out of the group stages unless they have a difficult group.

With that said, with Roma they’ll also give opponents in Europe 6-1 or 7-1 wins so…

Agreed...what do you think about signing Icardi for 10-15m? He's having a great season in Turkey and is a Serie A proven goalscorer having won league topscorer twice. Also, he's just 30yo and his contract expires in a year.

As for RW, it seems as though we might be signing Zhegrova from Lille who looks like a legit talent. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Greenwood who's been linked to Roma + Juve and can also play up front.
