I haven't even watched a highlight vid of Openda, if he's the choice, I hope he smashes it.

I'm not advocating Scamacca over any of the young strikers that have been mentioned before, I honestly haven't watched them. I started liking Scamacca two years ago when he was at Genoa, as I like his skill-set as I think its rare to have someone play the 9 role like that.

I think that Scamacca represents an opportunity to have an Italian player, which helps with our lists, but I also think that due to his bad time at West Ham, he can come to Milan on favorable terms. Terms with loan+option that would allow us to put more of whatever budget we have into other areas, such as CM and RW.

Obviously, it would be better to have gotten Scamacca last year instead of this one, but I don't think that there is some guarantee that Openda (or whoever) will automatically do better because of their most recent season was strong. With strikers, especially, I like to see more than one good season, and for Scamacca, I think he scored pretty well for Genoa before really pushing up a gear for Sassuolo, I think he showed progression and growth.

Scamacca had 8 goals and 2 assists with Genoa 2 season ago. So quite mediocre but decent for a young striker who can improve. Openda last season had 18 goals and 2 assists in the Belgian League. And 3 goals and 2 assists in the UEFA Conference League and this year has 19 goals 3 assists in League 1. So 2 consecutive good seasons. So less chance of him having one fluke season...

And Firmino, who would be a free transfer, has had multiple seasons that are pretty good.

I don't want Milan to get a striker with a big chance of flopping, even on loan, and then the whole season is fucked. Maybe as the 3rd striker the risk is ok. This season was fucked in many ways. Next season has to be more of a guarantee.

He got emotionally attached to Florenzi, Messias, Baka, Krunic, Salad, but not to all the other players that left?? Why, because these ones were so good looking and nice???

Do you think management would be signing all these mediocre players if the owners gave them 20-30 mil to spend for each position? Obviously there are management fuckups like Origi and some players not working out ( CDK ). But weren't you against Bennacer and Theo signings as well? According to you management didn't sign a solid player like Sensi and cheaped out to get Bennacer instead and Theo was supposed be "bench player" who was nothing special!

And how the fuck is Baldanzi with 4 A / 0 A for 15 mil better than Diaz with 6 G / 7 A for 22 mil? That makes no fucking sense! It would be one thing if Baldanzi had other things, like if he was bigger and stronger than Diaz, but he's even shorter!

SMS, on the other hand, I can see the good points of signing him for 35-40 mi as he's been one of the top mids in Serie A the last few years...
Lol did you forget to take your meds again?

For the record, everybody knows that Donna, Hakan + Kessie left because their salary requests exceeded our wage cap. Also, Romagnoli wasn’t prepared to reduce his 5m salary so in all of these instances the PLAYERS chose to leave. However, after winning the Scudetto, Maldini let his emotions get the better of him and redeemed fodders like Florenzi and Messias in addition to extending Ibra, Salad, Krunic, Baka etc when the majority of these players contributed very little or didn’t play at all. However, you chose to focus on a few players Maldini let go at the beginning of his tenure as ‘proof’ that he acts without emotion :fp:

As for the rest of your mad rant, no, I didn’t say that I didn’t want Theo. However, I did call him a RM reject (which he IS) but said that he was a great signing relative to the purchase price. I did call Benny + Krunic ‘2/3 of a relegated teams midfield’ (which they were) and shitted on Benny ONLY during debates where I argued that Tonali was the superior player (something that almost everybody agrees with now lol). Also, for the record, I NEVER rated Sensi so stop talking out of your ass.

As for Baldanzi, how can you compare stats for somebody who’s not only 3 years younger but also plays for a team in 14th place vs a Scudetto winner?! However, most observers have seen enough to determine that he’s got huge potential which is why all of the top 5 teams are seriously interested in him.

With inter losing to Napoli, our best chance for making 4th place may well be that they hopefully drop points against Atalanta and Torino, which is very possible. Especially given the fact that they have the coppa italai right before those games, and the UCL final right after.

Losing the UCL semi final to inter will be one of my worst memories as a Milan fan. BUT if we were to somehow qualify for the champions league ahead of Inter in the SAME season, it would make up of for it just a little bit.

Assuming, and hoping m, that they get utterly trashed against man city.

Yes, in his first year with Genoa, where he wasn't first choice (Destro was) but that's at Genoa, where he was the club's overall top goal scorer, with 12 goals overall. He then went to Sassuolo, scored 16, including a screamer against us.

I realized I have watched Openda (very, very little), I didn't realize he's the guy who plays for Lens, he's talented, no doubt. I'm not saying no to Openda, or whoever, again, I just like Scamacca's skillset. It would be nice to have both, and they could be our poor man's Haaland-Alvarez combo lol.

I just don't see how Scamacca is likely to be a flop? You could argue that Scamacca played for worse teams in harder leagues, while Openda plays for stronger teams in weaker leagues, right?

If Openda comes, he won't be coming on a loan+option, he'll becoming for money, and with pressure, so there's that to consider. With Scamacca, I feel like coming in with lessened expectations could possibly help?

It really depends on what our budget is, too, y'know? Like, if we have 75-100m to spend (lol) then priorities can change, but if we have another 50m budget, then... being able to grab a striker for a loan+option might be the more cautious thing to do?

You are a poster who I respect very much, Kojak.

I remember us butting heads a few times a few years ago, but I've always respected your arguments, even after I turned into a seldom-poster-mostly-lurker-type of member due to my work & life sadly.

But you and several other posters, like Sam, hitchens, allo, brk, gen and so so many more are the only reason we lurkers keep coming back. hats off to you gents

So you want to replace a starting player with a player that has "potential" and might succeed, when the starting player costs almost the same (22 mil vs 15 mil ) as the the player with "potential"? And then Milan waits another 2 years for the "potential" that may or may not come through! Meanwhile the club has to go through even worse performances!

And for Bennacer , Krunic, & Adli, it's a bad thing that they come from relegated teams but for Baldanzi it's a good thing coming from the 14th place team???:lol:

Also do you you really think management would have bought Messias and Salad if their RW budget was 25-30 mil per player??

And since you talk about Hakan, Donna and Kessie leaving because of too big salary requests, then what about Suso, Cutrone, Piatek, Samu, Romagnoli, Hauge,....??? Were their salaries also too high??

And you were definitely a big fan of signing Sensi over Bennacer!!:lol:

2 flops, and 3 other possible CDKs.

For once I want a proven striker in his prime.
Udinese are asking for 35m for Beto

The market for CFs is insane unless you get lucky like Hojlund

We are in one of the worst periods of striker talent... possibly in history, honestly.

The best strikers are (in no order): Benz, Haaland, Lewa, Osimhen, Kane, and then.... who?

Like think about who you could put in that list after those first five if you wanted to make a "Top 10 Strikers in the World" right now list. Who would you put next? Lautaro? Lukaku? Immobile? Gab Jesus? Vlahovic? Toney? Isak? David? Unless you want to count Mbappe as a striker, I dunno man, I just think striker talent is really shitty these days.

For all the insane talent that France has, in every position, they started Giroud, like how sad is that?

Give me icardi

Fuck it

20+g confirmed
I dont get why we dont get him for rotation at least. Proven scorer and knows seria a.
Sell origi whatever. Zlatan gone. Rebic sold.

Okafor for rw. Or if chiesa wants lo leave ladri (he wont go out of italy for sure).
Icardi for like cheap 10M for rotation.
Wahi for starter. 35 plus clauses. Lets say 40.
We need 3 strikers. OG cant play 50 games at high level.
Its scudetto in the bag. And competing easily in cl aiming for quarter or semi again. Thats like 70 or 80M. We earned 140 from cl. Ffs cardinale do something.

Baldanzi looks like a shitty Brahim (at the same age) tbh.

Kojak - find a different player, I dont think this guy has it.

Pafundi (17 yrs old - Udinese) seems a better target if you want a tiny player. The guy with two goals seems nice too but he belongs to Inter Chelsea

He means a proven player like Firmino, who is proven at the top level but probably wants to go to club where he will be a starter which rules out clubs like Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid as they have star strikers that are of a higher level.
