I said it a little while ago, but Zanetti is in the perfect role at Inter. Doesn't have to worry about getting sacked and is closely associated with ownership. Probably what Maldini should've had, but he wanted more.

Yeah. But did the Moncada scouting justify spending 35m+ on CDK? Perhaps the mistake was not to move on when the bidding war started with Leeds. We should have moved on after our early offers were rejected and the price started climbing. So this is more on Maldini than Moncada.

Then there is Origi. Where did that decision come from?

Does all of this justify sacking Maldini (or the way it was done)? Not course not, only trolls believe that. Knowing Maldini he would have probably learned from his mistakes and done better. But to claim that there was no problem is disingenuous.
The Warriors owners didn't fire their GM after they lost embarrassingly to the Cavs.

I'm sorry, Forza, you know how highly I hold you and your opinions, but I cannot stomach dissecting Maldini's transfer decisions when I watched Pioli's management of this squad this year.

Putting faith in Pioli over Maldini, if we are doing a 12 month retrospective, makes no sense to me. Pioli has done such a poor job with everything provided for him.

Take CDK, who I have never been a huge fan of, but look at how he's been used by Belgium and Brugge, and then compare that to what Pioli has done. Pioli has made so many errors, from the most basic level at his fitness staff where he has (for his entire tenure here) had the most injuries of any other squad in Italy... and then you see him playing Messias as RCM in a 352 he's never used, while dropping Leao, against Inter.

To me, Pioli has made so many mistakes that justify firing him over Maldini, it genuinely boggles my mind.

It’s too early for names. Just dildogan for 8m or arnuatovic for 4m.

Pioli isn’t getting what he wants

He just got another chance bc Maldini ate the bullet for him for being more vocal. If his performances are similar regardless of getting what he wants or not he’s the next to get unplugged
Maldini is going down for all of them.

Furlani just arrived and wasn't he seen as an Elliot plant. Moncada is untouchable because every miss is blamed on Maldini and we only highlight the players that went to other teams and flourished. Pioli played the players he thought could deliver and that wasn't much of anyone.

They all got to swim next season with no figurehead absorbing all the pressure. It's going to be GoT level backstabbing from here on.

Pioli is probably the next one, if he doesnt deliver in a few games.

Zanetti is not the left ball of Maldini, Zanetti is a spineless yes man and he was also when he was playing. Cambiasso was the voice in that locker room

Pioli is a yes man from the moment Milan brought him in. Don't believe any stories about him having more say in the transfer market. They'll buy who they think fits and Pioli will need to adapt or he'll be gone next.

Zanetti is in essence a mascot at Inter, no balls on the guy whatsoever.

That first goal celebration by Maldini will forever live in my mind. This and him going down on the pitch after Tonali s goal v Lazio.

Grazie Paolo

Why renew his contract?
That was the dumbest thing Maldini did. Pioli had an option for another year so there was no risk of losing him. They should've seen how things went this season before locking into him long term.

Right. Because we were guaranteed a CL win before we sacked Maldini? Really?
No, they weren't, but that was Maldini's ambition and the ambition of the players. That's why they are here. If they want to keep fan support, then that should be their ambition. If it isn't, and they just want top 4, then I have no interest in supporting that plan.

I do not have your track record or history of loving Milan, but I will always support the team and pray for the best.

If you fire your inspirational and successful SD, the architect of your revival, for me, that level of sacrifice requires a substantial increase in performance, and I expect winning next year.

Add the fact I think there's a business utility in keeping Maldini around, and you're giving that up, potentially alienating your fans (customers)--the only way I can justify that sort of risk is through performance.

I hope that makes sense.

But Maldini got what he wanted last season. Couldn’t deliver

Pioli is getting what he wants now essentially and if he doesn’t deliver, he’ll get the boot too yes.
Maldini got 3 big players to raise the level of the group ???

Not looking to argue - just saying.

Maybe this interview will soften you up?

We will be stripped to pieces. Yeah wait another decade for second star.

This idiot paid 1.2 billion for cash flow? Why couldn’t he buy some other club?

Without a stadium we are dead

Why renew his contract?
So why not fire Pioli too if that was such a huge mistake?

If you are going to say "for the players" then Maldini was more critical in getting those players to come here and to sign the extensions that this project is relying on.

It isn't about money, because then you wouldn't be firing everyone and overhauling your youth system, too.

And if you are that tight on money, then maybe stretching to buy Milan shows incompetence in Redbird?

When Pioli had a good squad he delivered.
When Maldini fuck up the squad Pioli imploded.
With that said, I dont mind if they fire Pioli.
Pioli's struggles against provincial sides really hammers home the point that squad quality is what hurt Pioli.

Spezia, oof. What a squad they have.
