He's been breaking things for well over a year now. How many approval tests must he pass?

He's had misses too, but yes, he's generally good. I don't like putting him in that Elite 3 Tier, but he's busted like 6-7 important bits of info in the last week that might put him in that tier if it continues.

He has a link, for sure.

I take Longo seriously, from where I'm sitting he's earned it. Moretto as well.

GDM seems well informed again. Romano is just a goldplater these days.

In order, for me, it's currently Moretto, GDM, Fab, Longo

Based on what exactly? Running Giroud into the ground? Keeping Thiaw until there was a crisis and he lost Gabbia to injury? Burning Vranckx after the first mistake? Hiding Adli in the cellar all season? Forcing CDK to play in a way he hasn’t been played most of his career and insisting he adapts?

How is this the right profile for a coach that has the responsibility to develop young players? After winning the title Pioli transformed. He’s suddenly obsessed with winning. That’s fine, but it comes at a cost and it really doesn’t work with the way Moncada has said he wants his team to be run.
I see what you’re saying but there are 2 sides to every coin

I’m sure Pioli would have given the new signings more time if they were able to contribute

It’s a mix of both, if we brought in guys like Enzo and Muani im 100% sure Pioli uses them more despite being young

Ordine says that Pioli was aware that Paolo wanted to fire him to hire Pirlo. Ordine also says that Paolo sent an email to Cardinale with a draft of a three years investement plan and Cardinale never replied

If this stuff about Pirlo is actually true, Paolo had to go.

I hope it's not true.

Looks to me like this was all planned. It would have been impossible to fire him had we made the final of the CL, but losing to Inter and scraping into the CL through a backdoor was enough of an excuse to justify making such a monumental decision. But this was clearly the plan all along and they were waiting a whole year to pull the trigger. Monaco got denied Moncada months ago, and he could have gone to PSG with Campos. He stayed quiet and didn't renew. Why wouldn't he renew if he was rejecting these offers? He most likely had assurances that he will take over this summer, which means he already had a plan in place for targets to go after when that happens in order to hit the ground running.

We have the core group signed on to 2026 at least. Extending Maignan now is a lot harder and we'll need to show major assurances with a huge market and improved performances to convince him to extend, but we're lucky Maldini got Leao and the rest over the line and locked in for at least another 3 or 4 years.

There's already a clear-out planned for this summer. Most of the squad players are heading out. It's a mini-squad revolution that needs 6 or 7 new players in just to round out the numbers. Besides Kamada and Sportiello I don't think we know any of the names that we're actually targeting. Most likely they will all be huge surprises and players hardly any of us have heard of, which is sort of the point of what we will now be doing. It's a massive risk where we are betting everything on believing that we are smarter than everyone else. No more gut feeling, or looking for experience or whatever. They'll slice up our game into metrics and targets and spit out a list of names that the algorithm thinks will improve our expected points next season. The scouting team under Moncada will have a list, and the analytics team under Zelus will have a list, and whichever players are on both lists are the ones we send the faxes to. It's the same process we've been successfully using but probably without gut moves like Origi and Florenzi.

The x factor for me now is Pioli. If he wasn't using CDK, Adli or Vranckx (who were clearly greenlit by the data and scouting team) then what makes us assured that he'll use the next batch of youngsters? I really think Pioli is on borrowed time right now. They'll replace him (with RDZ hopefully) at the first wobble. That is unless he completely changes his process into one that is aimed at developing talent as opposed to winning at all costs. Moncada has said this in the past, how it's ok in France for teams to play youngsters because they expect them to make mistakes. If Pioli was asked to do the same, to be more forgiving of youthful mistakes, then i'm sure he can adapt. He's the ultimate yes man he won't argue against it. We might even see him integrate Adli and Vranckx next season if that's the case.

That's my hope, at least. It's a lot riskier (in a sporting sense) than the plan I was hoping we'd follow, which is what Maldini wanted to do. Upgrade the squad with more guaranteed champions with the money we made so far. It's cheaper, though, and a lot less risky financially. I know that's always going to be the side RB fall on, and Maldini wanted there to be more risk financially and less sporting risk. That's the fault line that couldn't be bridged.
Half the squad need clearing so Maldini wasnt moving in the right direction.
Rumors that he also wanted Pirlo is a clear indication.
Pioli should be replaced as soon as the squad outgrow him.

Longo: Despite attempts to deny it, Milan spoke to Thuram to try and convince him of the goodness of the project
Isn’t this dude a big Milan fan? And his dad played for Juve?

I think we have a good shot

I hate to admit it, because he's a goofball..

But Longo has been breaking news on Milan for a solid week now. He has someone on the inside for real this time.
Dutch football sites love him. Even adapted that silly ass Here we Go.
He became pretty solid tho

Securing Ndicka and Thuram now after Kamada would be a great way to start the healing. Something tells me this new management actually will get these two over the finish line.

🤔

More rumours that Pioli was a big reason for the breakup and that the club chose Pioli over Maldini.

Dika plays as LCB and I don’t think we are paying him top salary to sit on the bench. He will not want to be a reserve as well.

Also according to Roma sources, they have reached the agreement with the player and are preparing documents to be signed. A bit too late to enter the race and if we somehow get him, it shows he is a dick.
No one in their right mind signs on the dotted line for Roma if Milan wants you, dick or not

He doesn’t owe Roma shit

I don’t get why they want Zlatan?

Zlatan is way more outspoken than Maldini and he’s not the type that will be so willing to give in to Gerry’s demands or way of doing. Maldini is way more diplomatic than him.

So I don’t get this move.

This move proves that Milan management underestimated Maldini influence on the players, and they are remedying the situation by hiring Zlatan as a coach as he has a positive effect on the player minds. They are worried about the players performance next season.

If this stuff about Pirlo is actually true, Paolo had to go.

I hope it's not true.

Hmm yeah I think Pioli is still a better coach than Pirlo.

Pirlo Juventus run was a bit mediocre, if we fire Pioli we ought to upgrade, not trust an unproven coach.

I think Maldini wanted Pirlo mostly due to their close relations

I’m also not sure if hiring Pirlo would sit well with the fans after what he has said.

Sure if Pirlo succeeded the impression could have changed but it’s a risky move that has more negative projections than positive.

Would have been an awful decision.

I do agree with this and I definitely will support Milan as much as I did before, Milan is for life.

I'm glad Baresi and Massaro are still at Milan, obviously they have different roles than Paolo had, but good to keep some legends around. I would also be in favour of getting Ibra on board somehow.

It’s not surprising to pick Pioli over Maldini when Pioli is a bigger yes man than Maldini and is less demanding and in the views of RB easier to work with.
Sure but being a yes man means he has to change. That’s what I’m waiting for, to see Pioli adapt to what Moncada wants. If he stays stubborn then he needs to go.
