I prefer our Capitano over anyone else in the management team too.

But Gerry had his hands tied is what I’m saying.

Not practical to fire everyone else and keep Maldini
There's more conspirators against the throne. We should bow to them instead protecting our own.

I was reading Baresi's interview and it stuck out to me when he said Milan needs a strong and balanced squad to compete across all fronts. I assume that is a viewpoint shared by the new management

And based on Maldini's last summer I'm not sure how much he valued that. The Charles goose chase was such an oddity compared to how the club has operated up til this point. When has Maldini ever spent the entire summer chasing one player and blown 70% of the budget on him? Never when Gazidis was in charge

We're getting bits and pieces about what went wrong and what the new Milan will look like. I think this summer Maldini would have chased SMS and blown most of the budget on him and I don't think he would have been necessarily wrong in this pursuit. But that's not what ownership wants

I think we go back to the days of having shots at promising young players in the 15-25m range which has been lacking these past few mercatos

This is spot on.

I remember all those past mercati where negotiations usually went down like: "We like your player, that's our valuation, take it or leave it, we have a whole database driven list of other targets to persue. You don't accept our offer? OK thx bye."

I remember how this became kind of a meme because Maldini and Massara were notoriously lowballing every club :-) We laughed about it but we also compared it to Leonardo just throwing >30M on Piatek or Paqueta and how much different, but better, we've become since those days.

I almost forgot how the hunt for CDK back then was so out of character for Maldini and for everything the Maldini-Massara-Gazidis trio did and how we all discussed how strange that was... Now that you're saying it, it all comes back.

But that’s not how business works. Milan would be a financial wreck if you done that. Revenue is not profit and Milan still has operational costs etc.

Let’s say Milan made 200 million in revenue, doesn’t mean that 200 million can go the mercato. What if they spent 200 million on wages, infrastructure etc. That means there’s no money at all. The revenue is gone. Football clubs were run like that but it isn’t sustainable. Whatever Redbird gives Milan, I am certain even if Redbird give Milan 20 million, Milan will run at a loss.

The future is sustainability. Whether I agree with how Redbird is doing it. I’m not sure. But for Berlusconi way of running a club is only successful as long as the owner remains, which isn’t good business.

All this is not entirely true. This is the 1st year Milan is supposed to be in profit. Also you can run a club at a loss for a few years to increase revenue before switching to a sustainable model with much higher revenue and spending. Real Madrid and Man City have much, much higher revenues than Milan. Real used to have the same revenue as Milan but Perez increased it investing in Galacticos like Zidane, Figo, R9 and than in players like CR7, Modric, Bale.... Real doesn't even have an owner, and Man City's owner don't have to pump in funds anymore because of their huge revenues.

It's very difficult to grow a small / medium revenue club into a big one while spending sustainably. You need to grow the club while making some losses and then switch to sustainable spending when the club has big revenues.

Agree completely. I don't understand the hatred for Bonaventura who by the way has been fantastic at Fiorentina and fans love him. I don't think people here have seen him much with the violas and so stick with the stereotype created by our so called experts. Jack gave it all for the Rossoneri shirt, played with heart, contributed goals an assists, and was always classy, praising Milan even after he was gone. Unfortunately missed almost a whole season to injuries and took a while to get back to form. He certainly did better than our 35 million disaster, our weak little #10, and the highly over-rated Krunic. One of the things that pisses me off the most about this forum is when people laugh at the sole mention of Bonaventua like he's a joke or something.
Is he a joke to you?

You’re 100% spot on but I don’t expect this forum to understand when it comes to our former banter era players. It’s like some trauma, every player associated from that era is garbage because of the bad times we faced. That’s the only reasonable explanation I can think off. Or another explanation is the coping mechanism that whenever a player leaves us, they just simply suck and aren’t good enough. We’ve saw this argument with Kessie and Hakan until this season when people finally realised their absence.

It’s a bit frustrating to me as well how underrated he is but it is what it is. We can’t do anything about it other than get annoyed.

In his first few seasons in this club, to me he was our best player and if we had better quality he would have looked even better. But yes when he got the injury in 2017 and then a surgery in 2018, he wasn’t the same player and struggled a lot in his last 2 years or so. I think that’s the version our ‘experts’ have of him here.

I’ve not seen much of Bonaventura at Fiorentina but yes according to my Fiorentina friend, he’s been immense for them especially this season. His performance yesterday was honestly miles better than I’ve ever seen Diaz play at CAM (if you talk about Diaz RW matches Vs Napoli then I can give you merit that Diaz peak there was better) and certainly better than our 35m signing who Pioli wants to sell. In fact even vs us, he even ran circles around Tomori

That’s what WE would do.

But does Gerry know the value of Milan? Is Gerry a fan of Milan?

I’m just trying to put myself in his position. I don’t know what he could have done? Fire everyone else to keep Maldini?

Honestly I always rated bonaventura. Again good squad player and could Start for us now. Was a mistake to get rid of him.

Selling players or not are not the deciding factor of ambition.
Its weather the team is taking forward steps or not.

We didnt regress when we lost Kess or Hakan , we regressed coz we failed to replace them.
On the other hand we upgraded when we lost Donna.

Above are important players , pillars of the team that we lost for free so logically selling such players should make replacing & even upgrading much more probable.

Scaroni, the italian backstabing fossil and noted blackadder character, still there daring to even speak about Paolo... his mere presence in the club should be sufficient proof that Gerry is an imbecil
Scaroni is the most useless president in the history of sports, has no real authority and his only job is to work on a new stadium. Now he doesn't even do that as he said RedBird has vast experience in stadium building and so they're in charge of the project. Scaroni is basically the mouth piece of ownership and says whatever he's told to say. One day he praises Maldini for the great job he's doing and the next he agrees with Gerry that Paolo has to go and we'll be better off without him.
The other snake is Pioli who in every interview spoke of the unity and cooperation with ownership and management, how Maldini backs him completely while in reality they probably couldn't stand one another. We're now a snake pit where only yes men survive and no dissent is tolerated. One big happy family.

why are ppl trying to convince themselves that players are crushed by maldini's firing?
they're all on vacation and living it up. enjoying summer. maldini is a small part of why these guys play here... they're here because we're milan. and because they're paid well to be here.
Will you shut the fuck up ? Yonghong Li boy

I'm cautiously optimistic. At least for moncada.

If gerry actually gets a stadium across the line, he'll get some praise from me. Until then, he's just an owner i have zero attachment to

He should sell the club to someone who knows how many minutes are in a game of calcio.

Without a stadium this point is moot.
Sorry
We need our own stadium. Missing out on like 200 mil every year cause we don't own one.

If Redbird really builds a new stadium without Inter they would automatically be good to great in my eyes. Milan's president Pirelli built San Siro and it was for Milan only and then they arrived later as always, these parasites nati dopo, nati tardi, nati male
I didn't know the history and I thought Pirelli was an Inter sponsor for years. Also why they named the stadium Meazza who was an Inter player.

That’s not a realistic alternative considering he just bought the club for 1.2 billion and was brought for the stadium which he must do to gain more returns.

If you’re angry at someone for Maldini. Be angry at Furlaini, be angry at Moncada, be angry at Scaroni, be angry at Pioli even.

The guy had the most influence in his sacking is 100% Furlaini who is an Elliot guy btw

Mbuemo definitely looks like an interesting profile. Gave Spurs a lot of problems when I watched that game.
But 9 goals and 8 assists in the league and without Toney - has a contract until 2026 too. I doubt Brentford would let him go cheaply.

Every Milan fan here hates the name Meazza and not only that, the square in front of the stadium is called Piazzale dello Sport Angelo Moratti and the other square behind the Curva Sud has a garden and the garden is called Helenio Herrera, we are under represented still the majority of the city and the suburb support for Milan
