I think Arnautovic was just being targeted as the cheap 3rd striker to take Zlatan's place as both Origi and Zlatan could be leaving . Then someone else would have been targeted for the 1st striker position. Maybe someone like Openda or Nicolas Jackson.

Thuram is good as a free transfer for rotation, but it doesn't seem he's good enough to be the main striker of a top European club. If Napoli have Osimhen, Inter have Lautaro, Juve have Vlahovic, Atalanta have Hojlund, then Thuram seems a level below.
