We do? Who says so? What's the source?

All I hear is we're not at all ok with him leaving – unless City shows up with a huge damn sum, which again, that's not a Milan thing, it's a Serie A thing.
Yeah I'm chill, until Man City make an offer it's just speculation.

But, it would worry me if we entertain it. Our ability to consistently replace assets with equal or better options is not encouraging. For me anyways.

We need to start building, not selling and replacing the foundations.

The biggest difference between the two is Sergio gets wins where Fonseca had us drawing matches. Both have too many losses overall, but 3 more wins instead of draws and we'd be in the CL-zone comfortably.
Paz is great....but don't madrid want him?
Yup, but they already have so many players in his place. It makes sense to let him stay on loan or sell him. Otherwise what do they do with Guler? Endrick? Maybe we can get one of them cheap.

too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
The atmosphere and pressure related to managing Milan has been raised a few times in the media. One of the reasons I thought Serg could be a good pick is his playing career and being used to pressure.

Sure it's a different pressure, but I hoped he would handle it and step up from his previous managing positions, and hit the ground running when given a seat at the big table.

I've been surprised by his reactions to press conferences, but he has said he doesn't like them.

He's seems quite hot headed under pressure, rather than cool and calm. I honestly don't think we can really judge him in 5 months of work, walking into what he's walked into.

Cesc seems cooler under pressure, and I admire that. But, is this another hail Mary if we go for him?
Coaching in Italy is a seriously tough task, you are under a very severe microscope and spotlight.

Especially with Milan there is immense pressure and it is relentless. Also it takes a different kind of person to step up to a bigger club with greater expectations.

Cesc I think is very much committed to Como right now. I may be wrong but again how would he deal with the added pressure of Milan.

I think many are looking from the outside and the windows are pretty revealing currently.

This isn't a great place we find Milan and the fingers all point at Milan made problems. We can't really blame anyone but ourselves; from the boardroom to the pitch. This is by our own design.

I don't understand why folk are so put out by Boban's words, while actually agreeing with the more important parts... We such just now and it's shit to watch and see.

The rest of his beef actually isn't a thing I care about.
Well his interview is what I would expect to be a peak behind closed doors and then his opinions on things now. I dont think he drew any distinction around these specific remarks (maybe he does and its lost in translation) which is why I commented on them.
People have always had problems with how Boban chooses to speak - nothing new there.

As to Milan problems - they have been there, they didnt start when a certain person got fired, that only exacerbated everything.

Albertini: "The Coppa Italia won’t save Milan’s season. It’s unacceptable to fall short of the main goals"

The countdown begins for Milan-Bologna, the Coppa Italia final. A trophy the Rossoneri have been without for 22 years, one of the few that Demetrio Albertini never won with the Devil during his long career in Milan. Here are his words, exclusively for MilanNews.it.

Demetrio Albertini, what kind of final should we expect?

"I believe we’ll see a good final, in the sense that Milan showed quality in the last match. What’s been missing this season is consistency, but in knockout games, the team has played very well. Bologna has done extraordinary things, surpassing last year’s season with a great sporting effort."

Where do you see the balance tipping?

"In a final, the favorites don’t matter much. I’ve won Champions League titles as an underdog and lost as a favorite. So it’s not about who’s the favorite, but what Milan we will see on the field. This season, we’ve seen many versions of Milan, while Bologna has had more or less a steady performance."

Milan seems to have found balance with the 3-4-3 formation.

"I wouldn’t focus too much on the new formation, but rather on the fact that Conceição had time to get to know the players and made some choices. At the beginning, he was always changing players in the starting lineup, but now there’s a group that plays more or less consistently. Some difficult choices were made, and this has given a different imprint. I’d say it’s more about the interpretation of the formation, the context, and what you build within the group. Let’s not forget that changing in January is not easy; inserting players into a group that’s been working since the summer isn’t simple."

Milan hasn’t won the Coppa Italia since 2003, and before that, since 1977. Is the competition disregarded?

"Disregarded, no, never. Certainly, many of the players who played less often in Coppa Italia to give rhythm to the team. But even in my Milan, so-called reserves were not really reserves. It’s true that in my career at Milan, the Coppa Italia is the only trophy I didn’t win. I was able to win it later with Lazio. Let’s put it this way: just as Milan’s home has always been the Champions League, we could say that the Coppa Italia was an away competition for us."

The impression is that in recent years, the tournament has gained more appeal.

"As a director, I must say that the league has built a very important event in Rome with the Coppa Italia final. This didn’t exist years ago, and I must admit, as a player, I would have liked to participate in this event. It’s a mistake to disregard it, and yes, it’s a competition that has gained prestige. If I could add something, I’d like to see a tournament that involves more teams, not just from Serie A. As is done in other countries."

TV networks wouldn’t agree, considering the viewership of Empoli-Bologna and Milan-Inter.

"It’s not just the viewership, but objectively there are too many matches. The calendar is congested. For this reason, I don’t think it’s possible."

Can the Coppa Italia be enough to save the season?

"For me, no. I hope Milan can lift the cup and celebrate, because winning is always difficult. But I believe that in its history, Milan shouldn’t be so far from its goals and forget the fan who goes to the stadium daily with an objective in mind. That’s not acceptable."

The club is considered the main culprit of the situation. In a recent interview, Zvonimir Boban spoke about the lack of identity due to ownership’s choices.

"Having worked with many companies outside of football, I see that everyone tries to create a very important working environment. A football club is an atypical company, even in terms of investment. And the sense of belonging is a value. I think it’s a mistake not to consider it, not to enhance the sense of belonging. It’s not just about putting ex-players in the club, but about creating a context with philosophy, mentality, and values that today I don’t recognize, I don’t see. In the past, there was a transfer of values from generation to generation, from player to player. Now, I don’t see that. It’s a backdrop, perhaps, but it makes a difference. After all, not all players express themselves the same way from one team to another, so being able to enhance performance depends not just on the player but also on the context."

Does Conceiçao deserve to stay?

"I am fully respectful of the club and I follow its decisions. The most difficult thing for a director is evaluating a coach's work beyond the results. If it’s hard for a group of players to integrate new signings in January, imagine how hard it is for a coach. He needs time. Sure, judgment on a coach is influenced by results, but I trust the club will make the best choice."

Did you like Conceiçao?

"He didn’t have an easy job."

Paradoxically, he could leave with two titles.

"I don’t want to disregard the two trophies, should he also win the Coppa Italia. But as a Milan fan, thinking that by December you’ve already stopped fighting for the title and by February you’ve stopped fighting for fourth place doesn’t make me happy. It’s paradoxical, though, because in the end, you won’t remember whether you finished 3rd or 7th, but you’ll remember what you won."

The Supercoppa has often been considered a minor trophy.

"Let’s say it was highly valued to win, but losing it wasn’t as significant. But lifting a cup is always hard, and especially, it’s a journey of work: winning the Supercoppa means you’ve earned it by winning the league or the Coppa Italia. In my time, we felt it, even though it was considered a side event."

Was there ever a possibility of your return to Milan?

"No one ever called me. On my part, I’ve always been with the Federation until a month and a half ago, so I can say I’ve followed my own path."

Manchester City has shown interest in Reijnders: should Milan build around him or consider crazy offers?

"It depends on the project, whether it’s to improve or start from scratch. If they decide to make few investments, it might make sense to sell him, especially when considering certain clubs that can offer a lot of money. But if you want to build something, you need to keep him."

Finally, a comment on Carlo Ancelotti, who is set to become Brazil’s national team coach.

"Carlo has proven over the years that he’s won wherever he’s gone. He’s the greatest, managing to combine technical and human aspects, which is fundamental, and a value that can’t always be studied. He’s taking on a great challenge with the Brazilian national team, and I believe he will do very well."

The problem with Fonseca was his consistent lack of fight or in-game adjustments.
Fonseca came from behind only twice in his Milan career to earn 2 draws.
Sergio on the other hand has amassed 19 points from losing positions.

That begs the question, why was the team not able to find that second gear when going behind under Fonseca? 3 or 4 list changes aside, it's pretty much the same team, and more catered to Fonseca-ball than Conceicao-ball.

Communication with the players and player understanding of tactical changes/setups is key to me here. One knows how to explain what he wants, the other just... floundered.

I thought CVs are generally requested before you hire someone, not after..
Usually, someone only asks you for your CV when they are very senior to you and don't know who you are. It is extremely insulting when you are in similar levels, and shows incompetence when dealing with someone who you should know about.

I think selling Reijnders is ok, only on the condition that we make a healthy profit and immediately replace him with Nico Paz.

Gerry isn’t showing for tomorrow’s final either. Hasn’t been seen all season. No showed the 125 year celebration and no Italian Super Cup either.
